Evan Price
Dear Athletes Helping Athletes,
My name is Evan Price. I am 17 years old. I have Spina Bifida. I would like a hand cycle so
that I can go on trails that are near my home. Having a hand cycle would keep my arms and heart
strong. I have been going to a sports camp in Santa Barbara and going hand cycling clinics and
doing adaptive P.E. Thank you for getting me a hand cycle.
Thank you,
Evan Price

Dear Athletes Helping Athletes,
Our son, Evan Price, is a wonderful seventeen-year-old young man who was born with spina bifida
and hydrocephalus. He is very accepting of his disability and never complains. He has been a
great role model for other people. Evan has been active in Boy Scouts of America for the past
ten years and has recently completed an Eagle Scout project. He organized a used wheelchair
drive and collected 120 wheelchairs that were donated to an organization that sends them to
individuals in developing countries. Evan is caring and enjoys helping other people.
Evan is the youngest of six children. Some of his siblings have been very active in running
sports at school. Evan has always been happy to cheer his brothers and sisters in their sports.
We live in a small community where options for recreation for people with disabilities are
limited. Evan has attended the Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp at UCSB (University of Santa Barbara)
for the past several summers. He has enjoyed all the sports he has played and tries his best.
This past year he has been attending a handcycling clinic at UCSB where he has improved his
skills and confidence. We have a wonderful bike trail close to our home. We know that Evan
would love to take a handcycle on that trail. It would be a great family activity. Having a
handcycle would help Evan with his strength and endurance. He would be able to encourage others
with disabilities to go out and do something and not just sit at home.
We hope that you consider Evan for a handcycle. We know that it would help him to stay
physically strong and be a source of fun.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mike and Cindy Price
