I am 5'9", 185lbs and wear a size 11.5 in this shoe I use this shoe for mid to long distance runs (5 miles - 20+ miles). I like the look and stability of the shoe, unfortunately the Sequence 4 is heavier, more rigid and overall less comfortable than the Sequence 3. ADIDAS has replaced the soft, padded ankle area of the S3 with a more rigid, uncomfortable, soft plastic compound around the ankle that doesn't seem to serve any purpose. It becomes an irritation for me after about 5 miles. I started wearing ankle supports that have worked to "hide" the problem. This may not be an issue for everyone but it leaves me wishing for the return of the Sequence 3.

This update to the hugely popular Supernova Sequence is both firmer and heavier than its predecessors. The shoe has become more of a pronation control shoe, and the ride is similar to that of the Nike Triax Structure. It is definitely not as soft as it used to be. The additional pronation control is due to a substantial firming up of the medial side. The transparent pro-moderator has been replaced with what looks like a plastic bridge. There is also a plastic heel stabilizer, and both devices do a great job of controlling pronation. In the heat the shoe's midsole softens up some, but in an air-conditioned house one can definitely tell that the midsole is harder. The outsole has areas labeled "sticky rubber" which do a good job of preventing slippage on wet pavement. A good looking, well-made shoe that has lost some of its responsiveness and put on some weight. It must now be considered the pronation control shoe in the adidas lineup.

I use Supernova Sequence 4 for training and that usually on paved surfaces. I have worn 2 pair of the Sequence 3 shoes and really liked those. But, as it happens, they were phased out so I thought I would move on to the 4. At first, there was some unwanted rubbing at the lateral aspects of my heels and on the 5th (pinky) toes. I bought doubly-insulated socks for the problem but as more mileage was placed on the shoe, that problem disappeared and no special socks are required now. My 1/2 marathon PR was earned with these shoes!(1:48:56) Overall, I'm very happy with the shoe and will likely continue through the series and begin wearing 5s when no 4s are available, etc.

The Supernova Sequence's pronation control is excellent. It guides your foot well through the stride and feels natural. Unfortunately, the shoe is as heavy as a box of rocks and you will notice when you begin to rack up the miles. I have had a lot of difficulty getting the laces to comfortably wrap my foot. It can be done but takes a lot of adjustment. I will usually get one foot feeling fine but then have to stop and adjust the other two or three times to get the right fit. Really annoying. On the plus side, they have also been durable.
