I have been wearing the Lone Peaks in a 8.5 for a year and love them. I thought I would give a pair of their road shoes a try. I was surprised to see a 8.5 on sale and snatched them up. When I tried them on, my big toe hit the end of the shoe. I really wanted to like them and took them for an easy mile on the treadmill. They were just too small. I can't exchange them for the same shoe but I ordered the Provision 1.5 in size 9. They are too big!! So now I am ordering the provision 1.5 in a 8.5. My fingers are crossed. I will give more stars for the 1.5 if they fit. RR only has size 8 left, buy the 8 if you usually wear a 7.5.

Comments about Mens Altra Provision Running Shoe: Don't know why RoadRunner would ask me to review a discontinued model that I got on a 40% sale but... I wanted to try zero drop/minimalist shoes but didn't want to pay full price for something I wasn't sure I would like or be able to adjust to. I wanted to buy Altras because they are a smaller company and I've heard good things. They are comfortable, seem durable, and have a great wide toe box. For anyone already wearing zero drop shoes the wide toe box is worth trying. It feels more comfortable to have room to spread out. They don't feel so wide as to cause you to trip. They have an added arch support for those who normally run stability shoes (like me). That helps but they are still zero drop which will take me a while to get used to them. The only downside I see is that they are a bit on the ugly side but not so much I'm embarrassed wearing them. We don't buy for fashion anyway, do we? So far a good shoe and a decent value for my introduction into zero drop shoes.

Comments about Mens Altra Provision Running Shoe: Like others I have flat feet and would still like to run as natural as possible. The arch support is just right so it is not uncomfortable. It actually feels like it balances out my footprint. I have had zero calf or shin problems with these. Also had a serious bout with PF and that seems to be going away too. I had the Instinct 1.5 before which I liked, but this is much better for my feet. Give the Provision a try for a few days as all new shoes take some getting used to. I wear size 10, bought these in 10.5 and they are a perfect fit!
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Mens Altra Provision Running Shoe: I have a wide forefoot and usually need shoes in 2E or 4E widths. Finding a "minimalist" shoe that fits has been a challenge because they generally don't offer wide or extra-wide sizes. The Altra Provision size 12-1/2 is slightly smaller, and fits me slightly better, than my Brooks Adrenaline size 12, 4E.

Best Uses Comments about Mens Altra Provision Running Shoe: They were very poor. I had the other alta...Loved them. However, the other one just started to tear on the cover netting on both shoes. Since my 90 day was not up with Roadrunner warranty..I took them back. Got this pair. They were terrible. Two days and I took them back and am now wearing a comparable Merrell shoe. Love them!

Comments about Mens Altra Provision Running Shoe: This is a great shoe. Tried it at the NYC expo and decided to give it a try. I am never an impulse buyer but had to buy this one on impulse. Very comfortable but not a great looking shoe. I don't care for looks as long it serves the purpose.
