I enjoyed running in this shoe, but I think it is too much shoe for me. I certainly wouldn't talk anyone out of buying this shoe, I think it is a great shoe to train in, but not race in. These shoes fit very well right out of the box and once I "trained the laces", could be the best Asics shoe I have ever worn. Excellent for running, walking and even use them for cross training. I have to say I noticed no difference in the cushioning on my first 4 mile run today and that added stability is definatly noticeable. I will have to wait and see what they are like on a long run but so far these are steal for the price. If they hold up the Nimbus will be replaced. Not sure what people were feeling with Achilles rub. Maybe shoe was too big. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Cumulus 10 Running Shoe: I?m a once to twice a week runner 1-3 miles each run. The knee pain I was experiencing I thought was from getting older. My first run in the new Cumulus 10s my knees hurt for the first ? mile or so then the pain was gone. On my two runs since then, I?ve had no knee pain. It feels like I?m running on a cloud. In part it could be due to the fact that my previous Cumulus pair is 8 years old and the cushioning is gone. I wear a 10.5 to 11 depending on the shoe. I had to get an 11 in the Cumulus. I have a slightly wide foot (1E) but the D size of the Cumulus 10 fits great. Toe box is just roomy enough with no pinching of the toes. I was torn between the Nimbus and the Cumulus, so I tried them one on each foot and did a short jog in the store. Though I preferred the color scheme of the Nimbus, I went for slightly better comfort of the Cumulus. Heal cushioning is awesome and the forefoot is pretty darn good also. I got a pair as part of the VIP family plan thinking they'd eventually replace the Cumulus VI. I've got 50 miles on them and have discomfort after every run from 6 to 20 miles. If I can't find more VI's (best of the series, by far) I may have to switch to the Air Peg. The heel liner is just too high and, like other reviewers have stated, rubs the skin right off of both sides of my Achilles tendon area. I kept thinking that they must need to be broken in more, but today I put my older models side by side with the 10s and you can see just how much more pronounced the collar is. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Cumulus 10 Running Shoe: I bought the Men's GEL-Cumulus (ASC1328) and find them great for the running I do. I find that when I run, the Cumulus helps my gait. There is no banging or slapping sounds, it helps me move from heel to toe very easily. The cushioning of the Cumulus shoe really helps my knees. I?ve noticed they don?t ache as much anymore. After wearing them a few times, it was like they had molded themselves to my foot and were perfect just for me. I also like how the Cumulus shoe looks, not a consideration for running I know, but still important. An added bonus was the Cumulus?s reflective material so when I run at night, cars can still see me! The only thing I would like is a little lighter version. I switched several years ago from Brooks (also good but very heavy)at the suggestion of my PT and have been happy with the decision. No "slap" like the Brooks Defyance. Also, took my son-in-law to the running shop... he tried on all kinds of shoes, too... and, yep, he picked the Cumulus 10. He's been running in them and tells me that his knee pain is gone. I have a wide forefoot and a really high arch. These are light, cushy, with good responsiveness and still offer a street feel. The only complaint I might have is that the collar comes up a little higher than I'm used to. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Cumulus 10 Running Shoe: I bought this shoe after comparing with several other neutral cushion shoes (fit, treadmill, and "jog" outside). I need forefoot cushioning as I'm a "recovering" suppinator and found the Cumulus 10 to be flexible, well-cushioned, light in weight, and very good in fit (neutral - high arch). Nice open toe box. And, contrary to some readers, I like the foam collar because it keeps out the pebbles and sand when running my country road or the local rails-to-trails. Liked them so much that I went back to the running shop and bought the last pair they had in my size! Enjoy! I have bought these shoes for two straight years now. I now own about 5 pairs, three of which are going in the trash at the next purchase as they are far too worn for further use. Nice amount of room in the toe box and fits like a glove. However, they just didn't offer me enough support and cushion. Not the right shoe for me but I think it is a shoe worth trying especially for your fast days and mixing up with another shoe for everyday training.
