I have 120 miles on my second pair. This is the best running shoe I've tried. I'm 175 lbs, 5'9", flat feet, and I run about 25 miles a week. They seem to wear down a little faster than other shoes, but I don't have any of the pain I experienced with other shoes. The price is very competitive, also.

i run a lot because of the marines. so these are worth they're weight in gold for someone who has flat feet like me. Took a little to get use to the shoe, but my knees don't hate me for days after a hard run now.

I have flat feet, an over-pronator, 5"10, 160 lbs, and run 16 miles per week.
This shoe has been great for me. I used the Gel-Kayano, but was overkill and much more expensive. Found that I didn't need the additional support after use the RoadRunner shoe guide. I found my last pair of Gel Foundation 8's to wear down after about 300 miles on outdoor concrete running. My knees began to hurt, replaced with new ones, and back to normal. Would be careful about putting too many miles on these puppies. But great fit and light.

I have used Asics motion control shoes for more than 10 years and aside from the Foundation 7s (sizing wasn't quite right) have been extremely satisfied. I find I have to replace after about 450 miles.

I switched from Beasts to Evos a few years back and had been very happy with the Evos up to the Evo 3. When it came time to replace shoes, the reviews on the Evo 4s were so horrible that I decided to try the Foundation 8s. They have been just ok -- 215 miles on them and the insole feels pretty shot. I'm having more knee pain than with the Evos and the ankle cut-out is a little too high for my liking. I'm going to give the Evo 5s a try. I'm a 5'10" 175-180 lbs. triathlete who runs between 15-30 miles per week.

I'm 5'9" 180 lbs overpronator with low arches. Out of the box this is the best shoe I have ever owned. It breaks down faster than I would like, while it's working it is just fantastic. If you have Plantar Faciitis or flat feet the combination of expert medical care and this shoe might just heal your feet and save your running career. Happy Trails.

Mon, June 22,2009:
This shoe looks good and performs very well. The superfeet insert is well made and can stand in for orthotics for most people. I am a moderate runner and hard striker, and I think this shoe should hold up for at least 400 miles before I will need to consider a replacement. I like the wide toebox - my toes don't rub and the mesh upper allows my feet to breath. Overall, a great shoe!

The designs, the quality, and the price are well intimidating. The first thing i notice with this shoes is the superfeet insert. This one's look great for runners and for those buzy walkers.

5' 9" 165 lbs. overpronater. I was very disappointed in the shoes. I got a large blister on my first 3 mile run. The insert did not fit flush to the side of the shoe and pinched the bottom of my foot. Poor workmanship! I sent the shoes back and the shoe dog recommended Pearl Izumi Syncro Guide II. I got those and they are great. No issues after a month of running on them.

I'm 5'7, 140lbs, and will get up to 60-70 miles at the peak of my base phase. As a little guy with flat feet and overpronation problems, these shoes provide great stability for me. Cushioning starts to die down at about 400 miles and I generally replace them after 5oo. I've owned three pairs so far. If you're a bigger guy the cushioning might run out sooner. If you have orthotics, I don't recommend wearing them in this shoe; I did so when I first got them and it gave me calf problems. The problems should go away by the next run if you just use the insoles that came with the shoes.

Wed, January 21,2009:
I've owned the Foundation 6, 7, & now the 8. The 6s were the best shoe I've ever owned and wish I could still get them. The 7s were far less durable and didn't have the same arch support as the 6s. The 8s have more arch support but superfeet insoles don't fit in this shoe! They fit fine in my 7s but only created trouble in the 8s. Using the stock insole has given me a blister on the front of my arch. Perhaps I have a fit issue around my arch but I'm just upset that they've not made anything as good and solid as the Foundation 6.

I'm on my second pair of these. I owned the foundation 7 and it was a great shoe. I put over 400 miles on my first pair of foundation 8s and they held up very well. But, they're a bit on the heavy side and you should get about a half size larger than you normally would. I'm a pretty small person (120 lbs) with very flat feet and although these are marketed towards somewhat larger people, these worked well for me.

I have really flat feet and I had been wearing New Balance 851s for a long time. Unfortunately, they have been discontinued. I bought the Gel Foundation 8s and wore them for the first time today. So far I like them. They have a roomy toebox and an arch that I can feel through my orthotics. Also, the shoe is made from some mesh material which was surprisingly cool on my feet. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I've only worn them once. If they keep feeling this good, I'd give them 5 stars.

This has been a great shoe. I've probably logged a couple hundred miles on these now. I purchased these after returning the Evolution 4s. I think the updates made to this shoe make it a much better shoe than the Foundation 7. I also own a pair of Foundation 7s and thought they wore out too quickly and generally didn't have great support.

Thu, August 07,2008:
This shoe has a pretty soft feel to it, especially the forefoot. It also is the widest stability/MC shoe that
Asics offers. I just sent back the Evol 4 because it was too narrow. This shoe is much wider in a 2E than the Evol 4 is in a 4E.In fact I wouldn't size up at all and might even size down half a size.
The ride was pretty good, but my calves
are a little sore to to the soft ride.
I don't think that it will be a longterm problem though.

What a great shoe! I've been a loyal New Balance fan for years, but the Runner's World recommendation swayed me to try it. Unlike NB, I'm getting much better wear. After 75 miles, no noticeable wear...
