Hello Everyone, my name is Vic, and im an alcoh...wait, i mean, I own a pair of these 2140's as well.
Im 6', 212lbs and an intermediate runner I have taken these puppies on different types of surfaces. So far, I've logged about 180 miles in them and they've held up their end of the bargain, and like an 80 year old at a dance club, they still have some life left in them!

I wore out my last pair of 2140's and bought another pair as they were on sale. These shoes rock and based on the negative reviews I've read on the 2150's, I may search out another pair as a replacement for these.

I like them a lot and could not complain.

Too stiff, no cushioning, and after a five mile run left me in pain in my legs. I really was happy with the Gt 2130 but they stopped making them. the new 2140 has a diffret support system that is more ridged.

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2140 Running Shoe:

I am a military member and run quite often. Through the years I have had a lot of trouble with the "I.T. Band" until a therapist told me to wear only Asics for my foot type. I am slightly bow-legged and over pronate heavily. The 2140's are the only ones that I have found even in the Asics line that helped me overcome the I.T. problem with stretching. If you are an over pronator with an average arch, you may want to try these out. I hope they never quit making them.

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2140 Running Shoe:

5'11 235 lbs, overpronator. I've been training for a 3 mile cross country "mud run". With my old (worn out) Adidas Response Trail I have been dogged with IT band soreness (in the hip) and shin splints, which has cut my actual running time drastically. On my first run with these my pains almost completely dissapeared!! And I cut my 3 mile time by almost a minute and a half. This is the first pair of Asics I've owned but they have made a believer out of me.

6?0? 225ish 15-25 MPW. Love these shoes!! They took a while to brake in and the first 12-15 runs they where really stiff. After they broke in the ride has changed to a smooth quiet contact with the ground. I will say that I love my Brooks GTS but these shoes are much easier to find where I live.

5'8", 160lbs and I'm doing 30+ miles/week. These felt great out of the box, but I have an odd arch rub in the left shoe and the right shoe strains my achilles tendon. I'm only doing 10-12 miles a week in these - hoping they break in a little better. I'll probably have to buy another pair of Adrenlines soon (was hoping these would feel a bit more cushioned).

Last years model felt great, and this years model was super. There was no competition in the store to sway me from the asics. I actually bought a pair of Nikes off the clearance rack for 40.00, tried them at work, and they KILLED my feet by the end of the day. They are now barn shoes. ASICS ROCK!

Looks clean and fresh after 200 miles.
Is it any wonder that ASICS is the most popular shoe in the Boston Marathon, even though it'e the home of new balance?

This is my first pair of asics, and I am very impressed. The heel is snug, not too snug, but I had to get a 2E in these shoes because the D wasn't wide enough. Highly recommended, Good Job asics!

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2140 Running Shoe:

For me, Asics has completely redeemed themselves with this shoe. I had always been a loyal Asics running shoe wearer for many, many years but a few years ago their shoes were not fitting well any longer (2000 series, Cumulus). The biggest problem was tightness on the top of my foot. Also, the toe box didn't seem to be as roomy any longer (I have bunions). I even switched to a New Balance model for a while. Well, today I ran a 6-miler in the 2140s and they felt fantastic! I can't remember the last time a shoe felt this good right out of the box. A lot of times with new shoes I will get achiness on the bottom of my foot along the arch, but not this time. This shoe has the perfect amount of flexibility, cushioning, and toe box room. I just ordered another pair. Asics - PLEASE don't mess with this shoe!

Too stiff, no cushioning, and after a five mile run left me in pain in my legs. I really was happy with the Gt 2130 but they stopped making them. the new 2140 has a diffret support system that is more ridged.

I love this shoe, Im a nurse and its the ONLY shoe I have ever put on and worn all day long in total comfort. This is one I wouldnt be afraid to buy off the internet. Last years model felt great, and this years model was super. There was no competition in the store to sway me from the asics. I actually bought a pair of Nikes off the clearance rack for 40.00, tried them at work, and they KILLED my feet by the end of the day. They are now barn shoes. ASICS ROCK!

60 225ish 15-25 MPW. Love these shoes!! They took a while to brake in and the first 12-15 runs they where really stiff. After they broke in the ride has changed to a smooth quiet contact with the ground. I will say that I love my Brooks GTS but these shoes are much easier to find where I live.

I'm only doing 10-12 miles a week in these - hoping they break in a little better. I'll probably have to buy another pair of Adrenlines soon (was hoping these would feel a bit more cushioned).

Great shoe like the previous GT models, my first pair was GT 2040, and i've stayed loyal to the GT since that. I'm running 75-85 kilometers/week, almost every kilometer in my 2140's. I only switch to something lighter and more responsive, like the DS Trainers, DS Racers or Hyperspeed 3 for shorter tempo runs, intervals and races. Would recommend it as the basic running shoe for anyone that isn't to heavy. My weight is 65 kg at 181 cm and I love the support and cushioning they give me.

6'3", 215 lbs., +25 miles/week. I've owned about two dozen pairs of running shoes, so I don't have a lot to compare against. BUT...speaking for all the lumbering mastodon runners out there (like me), this shoe's cushioning feels great--especially the forefoot, but also the heel. My feet would ache sometimes the day after a run, but not so with these. I usually do 5k or 10k before lifting weights, or doing plyometrics. I seem to have more energy for the 2nd phase of my workouts (5 days/wk). Plus, I'm not as whipped and achy the next day. That's my two cents.

Best shoes out of the box I've ever had. Very good cushioning, much better IMO than the Gel Kayano 14s they are replacing. I have put only about 16 miles on these shoes so far and they are great. Ran in the Kayanos again yesterday to compare and they felt very hard compared to the 2140s. I am a 190 lb. runner and was having a tightening hamstring issue. Once I starting running with these the issue has eased significantly.

It lasts many miles, seems to be engineered to go the distance and not have planned early-wearout designed in. So you will either suffer or enjoy for a long time. You will be able to find these shoes @ $ 59.00 everywhere once the next model comes out.

The 2140 is not as good of a ride and they feel awkward for some reason, just dont feel right when I run. Since I like the 2100 series I will buy another pair just to see if maybe the inspector was on crack that day. Asics, if you are reading these reviews, which you should, please go back to the 2130 last.

Great shoes, but the soles wear out too quickly. After less than 200 miles the heels were worn nearly to the substrate. And, worse, Shoe Goo doesn't stick to the sole - it wears off after a single run. If anyone knows a better way to preserve the soles, can you post it on the runner's world shoe forum? thanks.

So sent them back and got the 2140's, ran today first time for an hour and they are great right out of the box. Every edition gets better and these are no exception. The heel cup felt snug and I usually get bad heel blisters, but not in these. The upper is comfortable but the real highlight is the cushion. The heel is good as always, but it feels like the forefoot has been improved significantly. Great shoes

I have used Ascis most of my life. These shoes loose their cushioning after 100 miles. Better off buying an older version 2110, then the newer versions. Clearly Asics is making a decision to put cheaper materials in their new lines of shoes, requiring buyers to buy more often.

I tried Asics this year for the first time in 10 years. I have worn NB 991(loved), NB 763(OK,stiff), NB 992(hated and caused injury), Saucony Hurricane 10(loved). Got a pair of Kayano's and love them. Recently got the 2140's. They are fantastic! Plenty of cushioning but responsive. Feel light. Great deal. First pair of running shoes that I have purchased in the past 5 years for less than $100 that I have loved. I see that the Kayano's are now on sale for under $100, they are still the shizzle, especially at that price. I think I could run a 100 miles in my Kayanos and feet would feel OK, I have not run more than 8 miles at a time in the 2140 but so far so good. I think I am as dedicated to Asics as I was to NB 6-8 years ago! 45yo, 190 lbs, 6-0, 30mi/wk, marathons; narrow heels and wide at forefoot. Wear 13D.

I ordered these and the NB 769 in my size, 15 4E. They came today, tried both on on my lunch break, and wow the fit on the Asics is terrible. It fit like I was wearing a D. The instep was so low I couldn't even get my foot in all the way. Another disappointment from Asics. So I'm going with the Made In America NB 769's, which fit incredibly good.

I've been using this series of Asics shoes for years and been happy, the 2140 is the best by far, for me. Most comfort, most support. I'm totally pleased, best running shoes I've purchased.

I've had to go from a 2E to a 4E for the first time with this series. I'm really sick of the hole-in-the-fabric issue over the toe with these shoes since the 2100. It makes the shoes look trashy while they're still relatively new.

I have been running in the ASICS 2110 for 4 yrs now. I love the midsole of the shoe, then the 2130 came out. Whole midsole replacement changed the heel toe transition. I tried the 2140; I like the midsole but the heel toe transition is still inferior to the 2110. After 350 miles, my 2140 gave out, and I switched back to 2110. They have 200 miles and still feel like new.

The 2100 series have been my favorites for a long time. I was able to run in this moderate cushion and stability shoe even though I have a high to mid arch and supinate. But with the 2140, it seems like Asics moved or changed the medial post and my foot just couldn't take it. Will be looking for a more neutral type of shoe. It is a shame because I really liked this series for quite a long time and it was a great shoe for a serious runner doing moderate amounts of miles and races.

I skipped a few generations of this shoe after the GT-2110. But the 2140s feel terrific out of the box. I'm 5'10, 210 lbs. So far, it feels like Asics got it right with this version.

Got these shoes as a Christmas gift. I'm 6', 215lbs and I've had all in the 21XX series from the 2110 to the 2140. This is by far the best. I have a wider foot so the 2E width was just right. I use a pair of polysorb inserts and these things are like running on pillows. I do around 17 miles a week and have had no problems. Awesome shoe!

This isn't a bad shoe. I decided to try it after running in the 2120s. I figured they'd be just as good. They're close. I did notice however; they seemed to skimp on the forefoot cushioning. They are good for shorter distances only, for me anyway; anywhere from five to eight miles.

After trying many shoes, the 2100 series have always been my go to shoe. They are optimal in support and cushioning and just feel right. My 2130's lasted over 500 miles despite holes in the uppers above the big toe (as noted by previous review). I've heard it is because they are polyester instead of nylon like most others. Fix the problem ASICS!

Overall this is a great shoe. It's pretty lightweight and offers what I feel is just the right amount of support and stability, not to mention fantastic cushioning. The only thing preventing me from giving it a 5-star rating is the fact that after only about 100 miles my big toes on both feet started poking through the mesh upper - and I'm talking about pretty sizable holes at that. I wouldn't have thought too much about it, but someone else I know who was also wear-testing them for RW had the exact same thing happen. Other than that perhaps minor point, it's a great shoe.

I only gave this shoe a 3 because they narrowed it from the 2130 and now my little toes rubs. I had to return it. Otherwise it seemed like a good shoe.

I'm a narrow width, prefer a stable shoe and have given these a shot. They have more toe room than the Nike Triax, which have worked well for me, so they feel a bit wider than what I prefer. Although I have not had much luck with Asics, I like this shoe and plan on running my next marathon in them.

As an over-pronator with paterllar tendonitis, these shoes have been a god send. I went into a RRS store, got fitted for these 2 weeks before my first Half, while I was battling the knee issues. I can finally run without any pain. I highly recommend these!

Excellent fit and feel. I use to run in the Asics 2100, but was disappointed in the 2120 and 2130. However, Asics lured me back with this shoe. I ran 12 miles in them right out of the box and they felt great!!! Definetly a winner.

Out of the box, ran 3 hours including 6 x 2 minutes very hard. When I put them on at the store, the 2140s had the immediate famous ASICS feel. During the run, they "disappeared" - the quality of great shoes. Unlike the long-ago 2xxx series models, they did not tear up my legs and heels on hard pavement. A shoe to die for.

By far the most comfortable shoe out-of-the-box. First run of 9 miles on the road was like running on air. I have run in all the 21XX shoes, and this is the best. Soft where it needs to be soft and stable where it needs to be stable. I'm a 5'6" 139# flat footed slight pronator. Sized 1/2 up. I use elastic laces, too - and would never go back to strings.

Just finished my first two runs inthe 2140. The ride has a bit more spring, a slighly narrower forefoot and the toe box is shallower where the laces start. Very smooth ride with a wee bit more stability in the toe off. If you liked the 2130's wider and deeper toe box, make sure you try it on. The forefoot fit is somewhat similar to the 2110.

My favorite shoe ever, much better "ride" than the 2130. It gives just the right spring to push you off into the next stride... My 2130 shoes felt like they just slap the road by comparison...

As above, perhaps the best of 21XX series, or the 20XX series before it. It has just the right cushion that seems to push you off into the next stride. Way nicer than the 2130 which was a pretty good shoe for me, as I need a 4E....
