Great shoes! I bought these because I wanted to take the occasional trail run, but mostly run on the roads. These fir the bill without being too clunky or expensive. I normally run in the Kayano series, but these have plenty of support in comparison. I found them pretty firm at first, but they make a great, solid base for running in soft dirt.

I moved to a new area and am forced to do more trail than road running around where I live. Since I love my GT-2140 road runner shoes, I decided to go for the trail version. I have really liked them. At first, I thought they had much stiffer cushioning and it would cause soreness, but have been proven wrong. I love the traction they provide, as I was slipping on the gravel on some of the trails in my other shoes. I do not slip going up or down hills (as all my runs include inclines). They felt a little narrow at first, but this has not been a problem on my runs (which have not exceeded 5-6 miles on the trails). I tend to roll my ankles frequently, but these shoes have been very stable on many different uneven surfaces. Overall, I have been very pleased with this shoe. I have not done very technical runs, but have stayed mainly on gravel roads and wider trails.

    Certainly makes a difference to trail running. On the road, they feel a little unresponsive. On the trails though, they really rock. Gone are the days when you can feel all the gravel poking at you - these shoes help for a smooth ride out on the roughest trails.

    these can no way be compared to the kayano. They are stiff in comparison and are fine as a trail walking shoe but I cannot run in them. But darn, they do look good.
