Excellent shoe right out of the box. I walked in them for about an hour then decided they were so comfortable I take them for a run.

Five (5) miles later I wondered where the time went. I forgot how easy it was to run and just relax. Great shoes, great cushion and support.

I am a severe pronator who has to wear rigid custom orthotics. After doing exhaustive research while looking for a super stable shoe that was at the same time light and well cushioned I decided on these shoes last August 09. The shoe is plenty deep enough for my orthotics and the heel counter fits snugly around my heel.

For the first time, I believe I found the perfect shoe for me. I weigh about 190lbs, 50 years old and am now on my 2nd pair of these shoes. I changed them out after about 500 miles, even though they outwardly showed no wear. Its something I do as a precaution with the history of my feet and lower legs. I just hope Asics doesn't stop making this shoe anytime soon. I've even thought about buying a 3rd pair and put them away just in case they stop making them.

I am flat-footed and have severe pronation. When I starting running again several years ago, I developed severe knee pain, achilles tendonitis and shin splints, until I went to a specialty shoe store and was properly fitted in a motion control shoe. I ran in The Beast for two years and my pain went away, but I always felt that the Beast was too heavy and clunky, so I thought I would give the Evolution 5 a try. The shoe is almost an entire ounce lighter than the Beast -- that one ounce makes more difference than I thought. The ride is not as cushiony as the Beast, but it suits my frame fine (5'10", 155 lbs). I have put 120 miles on these shoes and have had no pain. These shoes do run narrow, so order them a width wider than you normally would.

I recently decided to take up jogging to loose weight. I ran for two weeks in cheap shoes from walmart and developed a posterier shin splint in my left leg. I did a lot of research to find out what was happening, that's when I learned I am an overpronator. I bought these shoes to rememdy that, and ran for the first time with em last night. It was great - a complete and total improvement over the other shoes. I was so comfortable the whole time, and it felt very smooth. I don't know why people say the weight is a problem, they're very light to me - of course I wear steel toe boots all day at work. I highly recommend this shoe for people with low arches.

Buy a wide size since this shoe is narrow, but it fits your foot like a glove. Really good shoes for people with low arches. I have used Evolutions for the last 4 yrs.

Fit is better, less narrow than the evolution 4 and the solyte midsole seems softer so the ride is less hard. Heel is very rigid but forefoot is more flexible than most mc shoes. Good mc shoe for those who need maximum rearfoot control but who have an arch and want the more flexible forefoot-feel of a stability shoe.

I have run in all the versions of the Evolution. This one is way softer than Evo.4, and the toebox is wider. I am trying to figure out if I like the more solid toe off of the 4 or the softer toe off of the 5. The fit is fantastic though, and the Evolution I think is the best MC shoe out there now.

I am an extreme over-pronator weighing in at around 285 lbs. I am 6'3" and was looking for a shoe that was able to control my motion. I am a new runner and have used these shoes for a bit over a month. overall, i like them but i stell get lower calf pain.

That being said, i bet these shoes will be killer when i have my orthotics in a week. Can't wait!

Let's say I have a Donald Duck stride and my knees work accordingly. I run 12 to 18 miles per week and I need a shoe that controls my stride, provides comfort, and yet...isn't dorky. This is the shoe.

On the down side, I do add an RRS Men's Stable Runner III arch support for inside my shoe. (After I wear out the shoe, I transfer the arch support to another pair of casual shoes. Hey, I get my money's worth.)

Unlike other shoes that provide motion control, this shoe has the appearance of a normal running shoe without looking or feeling bulky--and if you've purchased motion control shoes, you know what I mean.

I've run all of the lines of shoes for over-pronators--for us bigger runners with flat-ish feet and the awkward stride, and this is the best shoe.

Size fit seems appropriate. I've run with a half size larger, and the shoe felt like it slipped. Order your usual size.

I've been running for 47 years; mostly long distance with some speed work, running on asphalt in temperatures as high as the mid 90's. At 195 pounds with feet flatter than Oklahoma, I had grown accustomed to frequent minor injury. Through the years my clothes closet has been littered with the failures of the running shoe industry.
With the Gel-Evolution 4 and now the Evolution 5, the distance between these shoes and the others that I have tried is surprising and impressive. Light! Stable! Fast! My knees, ankles and feet are now properly aligned, and no longer take a pounding. No more ibuprofen!

I am a heavy over pronator and I suffered a few stress fractures because I refused to wear the bulky and heavy motion control shoes that are out there. Upon someone suggestion I decided to give the Gel Evolution a try. I went into the trial a sckeptic and I was amazed for day one. It feels and rides like a neutral shoe with lots of cushion. It controls the pronation without feeling (or looking) bulky or heavy. I have been running in them for years now and "knock on wood" have not had an injury since. I don't bother looking at any other shoes because when it works and feels good why mess with it.

I've been wearing the MC+ and had been having all kinds of issues, but I was too cheap to get rid of them till they'd worn out. Achilles tendenitis, tendenitis on the front of my foot, back pain, and knee pain (the knee pain was the signal the shoes were worn out). So I got the Evo 5. Before the MC+ I'd worn the Evo 4's and loved them, but couldn't find any in my size and didn't want to pay for the 5s. Big mistake. The 5s fit like a glove (my foot is flat but narrow) so I went for a run as soon as I put them on. It was awesome! No ankle-area pain, no back pain, no knee pain. And compared to the MC+ it felt like running on air. I'll be interested to see how long they last. That was the only complaint I had about the Evo 4s, they wore out kind of quickly for me (6'2", 215, about 25-30 mi. a week).

This is my third pair of the Asics Evo-5. Best shoes ever specially since I was diagnosed with Plantar Faciitis.

Only downfall with these shoes are the lack of color options.

Not a bad shoe. Just not the right shoe for me. Went from Kayano 15 to Evo 5. Thought because of low arches I needed a MC+ instead of Stabil+. I pronate outward badly. First run on the treadmill my arches were tight and hurt. Going to switch to something with stability.

These feel good at first but after a long run you feel like you are running plainly on the road. The feel is too stiff, and the shoe provides very little cushioning. I will try with some insoles and see how it goes.

Im a very avid runner and in great shape and these shoes cured my knee pain but now suffering from severe shin splints. Never knew what shin splints were until i ran in these shoes. I will stick to New Balance.

Great M/C shoe. The width choices allow room in the toe box and still snug around the heel. I use them with custom orthotics-no problems.

I bought these to continue with Physical therapy and they have been fantastic. I hae used them on a treadmill most of the time and look forward to using them on the road. They offer great support especially on the heel strike. The shoe helps correct over pronation.
