I'm very happy with my Asics Gel-1170 running shoes. They support my morning runs and are semi-stylish too. I run three days a week and for the past year I've been using a pair of Brooks shoes that my mom sent me (I was on a tight budget and thankful for her support.) When I was doing better financially I decided it was time to replace my running kicks. And since I was buying this time, I wanted a pair that would not only support my run, but make me feel fly too--so no more gag-me-bland blue and white momstylies like the Brooks shoes. Because half the fun of a run is winning. And when you look hot you win. So, after striking out with a pair of Rykas (super awful), I went back and tried everything from K-Swiss Performance to New Balance. In the end I decided to stick with the Asics Gel-1170 over a pair of lightweight purple Nikes. And I'm super glad I did. Though the Asics don't fit my style the way the Nikes did, they're a heck of a lot more interesting to look at than my former Brooks. AND the major perk is that they are amazingly comfortable and support my run Perfectly. I couldn't have bought a better shoe at my local store. In fact I have to fight the urge to wear them all the time (I try to only wear my running shoes accordingly so they keep their spring longer.)
The bottom line: I've been looking for fellow reviewers online who've owned the shoe to compare my experience with, but I can't find any. So I just wanna put the word out that I really enjoy these shoes so far. They are comfortable, and allow you to run as long as you like. They have a bit of a bounce to them. And they don't totally look like mom shoes. Recommended.

I bought these shoes about a year ago and they are still going fine. I did replace the shoe liner as the old one wore out. I am 5'3", weigh 115-120. I have an average arch, neutral stride. Along with other cardio and weight training, I run 15-25 miles per week on roads and a dirt trail. I bought these shoes mainly for the cushioning. They are lightweight and have plenty of room in the toebox.

After running in the 2100 series for several years, I decided to try something different. I gave the 1160 a try and really liked them. When the new 1170 came out, I got them, since my old 1160's were wearing down. They felt comfortable when I put them on, but something about them just isn't right for me when running. They turned my knee issue, that normally tolerable, into full on pain that forced me to stop running for over a week until I could get new shoes. I've even tried using these for walking only, but they still don't feel right. I ended up ordering the Kayano 18's, and so far they are one of the best shoes I've ever run in.

I've run in the 1100s for years and they are the best shoes for me, but these (with a more modern look) are not comfy. They feel much stiffer and give me blisters on the inner ankle. Usually I break new Asics in about 20 minutes!
