I have put 900 miles on this Brook's model and I am on my third pair -- over 2,000 on the Defyance line itself. My first pair lasted 400 miles and my second held for 350 miles. I have a heavy frame and run mainly on sidewalks and city streets. I wear out the heel outside corner on the sole. Since I switched to the Defyance model (1, 2 & 3), I have never had an injury or pain related to running in my feet or knees. I am very satisfied with this shoe. My only complaint is the color. The Defyance 1 was an awesome green that looked great even after 300 miles. The Defyance 2 & 3 white shoes look dingy after 150 miles.

Tough shoe to review. As a stability shoe it should probably get 4 stars. But I was looking for a neutral/cushion shoe and this has very little of either. Lighter that the Defyance 2, but an extremely firm heel, which for me created and awkward transition. The overall stability is far too much for a so called neutral shoe. Like the Adrenaline it will align your feet and control your stride. If that is what you are looking for this shoe will work for you. I began to get the little aches and pains i get after running on stability shoes. After 50 miles on these shoes I've had it. I need to turn them back in.

I believe in serial monogamy with sneakers. Stay with the one you're with until it starts giving you troubles. I've switched back and forth between stability and cushioned sneakers from Asics and Brooks, and whether certain injuries were solely due to me or whether the sneakers contributed to them is an open question. But after 3 pairs of Defyance 3's, I feel just right and love landing on the cushiony midfoot/forefoot area and bouncing right up for the next smooth stride. [...]

Same great fit, but lighter!!! This is a great shoe, I thinks it's better than the 2.

This is my trainer for recovery workouts and the occasional long run. It's perfect for these goals as it provides comfort and durability for my feet. They're not the lightest shoes in the world, so I don't tend to use them for paced workouts or races, but they keep me healthy and happy the rest of the time.

Feels like a good update to the Defyance 2. I prefered the 2's color scheme and look, but the 3 is a great shoe in its own right.

A very comfortable Running shoe but just a bit too bulky.

This shoe is very comfortable and light-weight. Great for marathon or half marathon training. Being neutral it allows your feet to do the running and not the shoe. It is also a great looking shoe that can be worn around town. Just remember to go one full size over your regular shoes.

I really like these shoes. I actually like the color scheme of the ones with orange, white, and silver, better than the red and white ones. That is just cosmentically something that is my own preference, but the performance of the shoe is still great.

I found the shoes to be pretty much as advertised: A nice solid pair of workhorse running shoes.

Among the best running shoes I have owned. They are similar to Defyance 2s but fit my feet a little better (a little snugger). Much less clunky than Landreth 5s. I am a flat footed neutral runner.
