Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

Been running in Asics for close to 20 years, 2000 series for past 5-6 years. Recent 2140s just seem too rigid in the sole. Mizuno's Wave Ascend 4s have been awesome for running on all terrain for me (running about 40 miles a week). Great balance of cushioning, stability, and overall fit. Even has helped relieve plantar fascitis issues that recent Asics seemed to aggravate. Sorry, still love you Asics!!! 2120s were great!!

I am new to trail running, but have been running recreationally for years. First run with these shoes was my first trail run and I did 6 miles. Very comfortable and felt light on my feet. I would recommend this shoe to anyone wanting a trail show at a reasonable price.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

I am just returning to running after several years of woulda coulda shoulda and I have finally made it passed the three week barrier. I have only purchased Mizunos in the past several years and I find these to be the most comfortable yet. I have been running on concrete and grass but haven't really had them on trails yet. I find the cushioning adequate, but not too spongy. The lug is aggressive which concerns me about the longevity of the outsole. I always recommend Mizuno and won't stop with these, good shoe for the price too.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

I have worn these shoes for some very rocky trail runs as well as a 27 mile rugged trail hike (with 30lbs pack). The traction on these shoes performed extremely well in both rocky and wet conditions. After hitting the wet spots in the trail, these shoes retained their superb traction and dried out very quickly. As for the other reviews about the flexibility of this shoe...It's one of the things I really like about this shoe. It feels exceptionally responsive to the trail. While running across the tops of very sharp rocks, I felt sure footed and well connected to the trail. I'm of the opinion that we need to strengthen our feet rather than bulk up our shoes.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

Loved the balance of cushion, support and flexibility in this shoe but it was just too narrow for my foot. I have a fairly average foot width and after 5 minutes of wearing these shoes my feet felt like they were in a vise. If the fit was better for me I would have kept them. Worth looking into but definitely try before you buy.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

I am with Harlan, this shoe is way too flexible. I think it would be great as a rock climbing shoe but not so much for running. When step on an exposed root or acorn, you feel it. The forefoot area needs some better support.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

I found this shoe to be way too soft and flexible for anything but the smoothest path. If you are running on any type of hills, uneven terrain or rock strewn single tracks, you better find a shoe with a little more beef. I liken this shoe to a lightweight road trainer with a trail shoe look.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

They offer a nice blend of cushioning, durability, traction and fit. I use them for ultra marathons and they give me no problems, remaining comfortable after a long day. They hold up relatively well to abuse compared to other trail shoes I've had and offer good grip on loose surfaces. They also dry fast, which is a plus. There are two potential negatives. One, they offer only mediocre protection from sharp rocks underfoot. Second, the tread buttons sometimes fall off after a run on technical, rocky terrain. These problems could be corrected by using a harder rubber compound and denser padding underfoot, but the tradeoff would be greater weight and less flexibility, so I'm happy with the balance they've found.

Comments about Mens Mizuno WAVE Ascend 4 Trail Running Shoe:

I am convinced that the Mizuno Wave Creation 10 saved my legs--after struggling for a year or so with compartment syndrome of the anterior tibialis I was ready to just give up. Then I went to a Mizuno trailer event and they did a foot analysis and put me into the Wave Creation--I never looked back. I haven't had so much as a twinge since switching shoes.
Wanting a trail runner but not willing to risk my WCs, I ordered the Wave Ascend 4. I love this shoe. It fits slightly more snugly than the WC but still feels right. This shoe is SOLID and SURE FOOTED, both uphill and down, sand, gravel, rocks, whatever. I never felt my grip slip at all. Comfortable and a real performer.
I have to say I am now a die-hard Mizuno fan.
