Former Asics 21xx series fan but the latest model felt narrow and was not as comfortable on longer runs. Just received the Mizuno Alchemy last week and love the fit. The forefoot offers a little more room than the Asics and feels much lighter. Right out of the box they felt good and did not need much break-in time. As a heel striker the Alchemy has offered great stability while not feeling bulky. As long as the model doesn't change much I think I have found my go to shoe.

    I don't normally write up reviews, but I feel so strongly about the Wave Alchemy that I just felt like I had to, if, for nothing else, it helps someone else find this great shoe for flat footed runners.

    I am a light weight male (133 lbs @ 5'8") and I have extremely flat feet. I also have old suture scars on my outer toes and heels from childhood surgeries, so I am very particular about what shoes I can wear in general...but especially for running.

    I run about 30=35 miles a week, mainly on the road or on paved walking/biking paths.

    Once I found the type of shoes I needed for my flat feet (motion control) I got into the Wave Alchemy series with the 9 (now running on the 11). I've tried other Mizuno stability shoes, and other brand stability shoes, but they just don't offer the support I need, or they just weren't as comfortable as the Alchemy.

    The problem with motion control shoes is, I think the manufacturers focus so much on the motion control function of the shoes, that they forget about the design...man, motion control shoes are some ugly footwear as a whole. But, not with the Alchemy. You actually get form and function, and they are much lighter feeling than other motion control shoes I've tried on.

    I also really like the wider feeling toe box. It doesn't irritate my old scars, and in some other brands of shoes, the toe box is more snug (which I guess some people like...but not me).

    I can't speak on how these would be for heavier/larger runners who may require more cushioning, but if you have flat feet and want a light, comfortable, solid looking motion control shoe, get into the Alchemy series for sure...after a few attempts to try elsewhere, I will not deviate from continuing to purchase these as long as they make them.
