When I stated wearing the 992, I had serious foot aches too, from lack of arch support. The heel does seem loose, and I have to pull the laces very tight. Also the length seemed longer. It is not the "glove" fit of the 991, which I wore for years, and I had to double the insoles to get enough arch support, and heel comfort. Maybe the 993 will be a better fit, and give more support. I do not run, but walk all day in my business. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: Please Bring back the 991's. I have been running in them for years. I have tried 992's but they are way too heavy and blucky. I like the 991's. Pease bring them back. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: Please, Please bring back the 991's!!! Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I have run in both the 991 and 992, and I actually like them both very much. I like the stability that the 992 offers. It is heavy, but its durability and stability make it a great training shoe. I have a leg imbalance and wear orthotics, but I have been injury-free with these shoes Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: If you're under 65, you're way too young for these shoes. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I wouldn't recommend this shoe for running - it's very heavy. As a walking shoe it's unbeatable, though. Super comfortable cushioning and the perfect amount of stability. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I have a pair, didn't pay more than 80 dollars for them. I knew that they are too heavy for running, but I really like them for all day comfort and versatility. I bought them because of the sole (as I wear out soles easily dragging the foot of my longer leg). We'll see "n-durance" just a name or not. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I sure wish I had read these reviews before buying the 992. Since I tried to make the poorly designed 992 work by running in them several times I don't expect RRS will take them back. Looks like I have a pair of $140 lawn mowing shoes. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I've worn 991's for years and loved them and bought into the improved 992. I've tripped badly twice, these are to heavy wouldn't rec. them. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: Not the same as 991. It has NO arch support unless you buy an additional insert to go inside the shoe. At this price I'm not spending more for something that should be in the shoe!!! Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I had a pair of 991's for about 2 years. They finally wore out so I decided to buy a new pair. I went with the 992. Big mistake, the heal is wider and the toe box feels smaller. I thought I just had to break them in, but no 2 months later and the toe is still tight. Also, the tongue of the shoe has less cushion so my foot moves around more. Something that has never happened since I got my 991 happened, my knees swelled and I got shin splints. For the price this is unacceptable. They are OK, but I think you can find a better shoe for the money. By the way I.m 5'10 180 pounds just to give you a frame of reference. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: See my comments below. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: These 992s are horrible. I've ran in the 991s for years and enjoyed each run in them. The 992s are too stiff and are not flexible at all. I highly don't recommend these shoes if you loved the 991, because the 992 are clearly a different shoe -- not an improvement from the 991. I just bought two pairs of the 991 because they will not be available too long. After those run out, I will have to seek out Asics. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: First time on New Balance but the 992 performed wonderfully for a 30 miles a week runner compare to the Nike and Addidas at the same level or money. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: Not what I was expecting. I came from a pair of 991 that I had for about 2 years. This shoe is nothing like the 991. If your looking for the 991 fetures stick with the 991 while you can. The shoe seems to have less abosbtion, and be a lot more stiff. Unlike the 991 the 992 give my knees a lot of pain. Its to bad I bought these I will have to goodwill theme when I get my Asics. You let me down New Balence...to bad. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: put this dog to sleep and discontinue this awful line of boots!!! Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: My previous comments were intended to have a star ranking. As mentioned previously, the upgrade to the 991 is terrible. I've used this series since the old 997 and, although I have had some niggling issues with the "upgrades," I have never had the serious pain (swollen knee, shinsplints) associated with the 992. The shoe feels heavy and stiff. I run flatfooted with this shoe because the last (and other changes) have rendered virtually inflexible. Upon returning the shoes to my NB store, the manager grimaced and said that a lot of people are having trouble with the 992.I'm buying a couple of pairs of 991s from RRS (which, by the way, I think should be a little cheaper for an out of stock model!). Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: New Balance blew it with this shoe. I'm about 210 lbs and I've gone through 4 pairs of the 991s. I loved every one of them. When these came out, I decided to try them out. WAY TOO HEAVY AND STIFF! I just bought the 1060s and it was like i was running on air. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I am 56, and weigh about 220. I run 6-15 miles per week. I have very flat feet and wear orthotics. I used to wear 991s thought I would give these a try. I took out the insoles that came with the shoes and replaced them with Sorbothane (I always do this). I then place the orthotics over the Sorbothanes. Having said all this I love this shoe. It is incredibly comfortable and I have run just a couple of times, but they are terrific for my situation. Comments about Womens New Balance 992 Running Shoe: I really liked the 991 because of the comfort, stability (I've also used Saucony Hurricane 6 and the Kayano XI), great fit, and especially because it was one of the few shoes I found where my custom orthodics fit really well. I noticed right away with the 992, my heel now feels like its slipping out (with or without the orthodic) no matter how I adjust the laces, whereas the 991 heel fit great. The toe area feels wider and the length seems slightly longer, but the midsection is either narrower or has more arch or something because my orthodics don't lie flat anymore. Plus it's much heavier than the 991. I'm sticking with the 991.
