Really a bother--have to get a screw driver after each run to get the pebbles out. Ok shoe, however, the hassle isn't worth it! Run 25 miles/week utilizing orthotics. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: These are my favorite running shoe ever. Far superior than the new NB1223 or the last sevral NB shoes. I can't find any in my sized ANYWHERE. Great stability for short and long runs. I did a couple of marathons and several 1/2's in 1222's and felt great! I had a least 6 pairs and had to number them with marker to keep them straight. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Beware of this model - in my previous review I got them and loved them, but after a few months of averaging 17 -25 miles a week the cushioning was shot, not enough support around my foot and my knees ache after being in them just for *walking* a couple of hours. I switched to Saucony Hurricane 7s (endangered) and I LOVE them and will be stocking up once my size comes in! Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: I was talked into this shoe (I don't have a wide foot - which seems the best reason for this shoe), and while it's a ton better than the 1221 (hated it), it's not quite supportive enough. I am beginning to have new knee and ankle pain. I still think the 1220 is the best. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Great all day support outstanding cushion. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Had several pairs of the 1221 and loved them. The 1222 actually hurt the balls of my feet and my toes cramp. Can't wear them at all. I'm back to wearing my old 1221s and need to find something else. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: I have been loyal to NB for the last seven years. I loved the 1220 and the 1221, but the 1222 is disappointing. The fit is different and it feels like there is less cushioning and support. So I am still running in my old 1221. I am looking at going with the 763 or to Saucony. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: I had a pair of NB 5 yrs ago that I loved and had not been able to find a replacement until the 1222. These shoes are comfortable and supportive, I am a new distance runner and with my superfeet inserts I can do the mileage and feel fantastic and ready for more at the end of each of my runs - gotta run! Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: I was talked into this shoe by the salesman and regretted it. I have worn the 815 for a couple years and this shoe allowed my foot to pronate and I developed plantar fasciitis and am wearing my old shoes until I can get to the store to buy new one's. Great cushioning and comfort but very little motion control. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: I was not impressed with this new balance. The custioning is not what I expected. Although after I have ran a mile or two I like it better then I did when I started the run. It has a lot of width for the regular size shoe. I would not recommend if you do not need the extra width. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Like other reviewers, I loved the 1220 and hated the 1221. So I had my doubts about the 1222. I was very impressed. Great cushioning and plenty wide enough. Motion control isn't quite what the 1220s were, but all in all a great running shoe. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: i have been suffering with plantar fasc. for about 6 months. after a month of running in this shoe and a pair of cush runner insoles i no longer have the problem. great shoe. great fit for wide feet. i run 7 days a week, twice a day about 10 miles a day and this shoe keeps up with me. i am on my 2nd pair now. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Am I the only one to notice the super forefoot cushioning in these shoes? Looks like they placed it in just the right spot. I used to run in the Kayanos but they provided no forefoot cushioning and gave me pains on the 6th mile of my marathon. These shoes are great, and the toe box is generous. I didn't even have to get a D width. Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: This shoe has a much larger toe box. It's a great update and well worth your $. The fit is much truer to size and it's a much more comfortable ride. More cushion but still firm. I'm about 180 and run about 20 miles a week and although I've only had the shoe about two weeks, I can see it's much more durable. The heel really holds your foot and the web around your arch assures stability. Great, great shoe! Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: the 1222 is a great shoe ... i wear a 10D and there is plenty of room in this shoe ... finally NB made a shoe to rival the 1220 ..... Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Great shoe. I loved the 1220 but hated the 1221. The 1222 is a wonderful update that reminds me the 1220 in even better Comments about Womens New Balance 1222 Running Shoe: Decided to try the 1221 to see if it would have a better ride than the 857 (most of the components of the two shoes are the same, but the 857 has cloth seats and the 1222 has leather. IMHO the 857 is a much better shoe at a better price-more substantial cushioning for bigger runners (compare the heels of the two), more stability and smoother transition. It appears RRS recommends the higher priced shoes for bigger runners automatically. The 1222 has a softer slip-on feel, but the cushioning bottoms out, unlike the more substantial cushioning of the 857. The 1222 is a good shoe, but if you are over 180 lbs. go for the 857. The 1222 is an improvement over the hard-feeling 1221,but in the 857 NB has at least as good, and probably more durable, shoe at almost $45 less.
