This shoe is very comfortable when you put in on which is somewhat misleading as to how it will perform. I ran in these shoes for three weeks. Although the cushioning is very good, it feels like it is stacked in the heel almost like wedges. The flow of the shoe from heel to toe feels disconnected. I'm a moderate pronator and the motion control is very good. I will not buy these shoes again. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I brought these shoes in April 2009. I ran the Rite Aid Marathon in May 2009 and the Tow Path Marathon in October in these shoes. I have since retired this pair of shoes. I liked them a lot, they did wear pretty quick i must say. I have trained in a pair of 1011 for one year and they still haven't wore to the point of the 1224's. None the less the 1224's were a vey good shoe for me. I since brought a pair of 1225 for training. I also retired the 1011's from training. I will probably buy of 769 for my rotating pair of trainng shoes and 769rc for my next race. I highly recommend the 1224 Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: This is not the best NB shoe I have ran in but they are pretty good. I do most of my runs on payment and these shoes do a good job in terms of cushioning. The support is adequate (mild overpronater) so overall I am pleased with the balance of support and cushioning offered by this shoe. The shoes run a bit sloppy but it's fine for a training shoe. No pain in knees, which has been a problem in the past with other shoes that are too firm or lack of cushioning for pavement. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I have stepped up to these shoes from the NB 769 and was very pleased with them. I am a big runner 5'-9" 210lbs. I bought a second pair to rotate with the first pair and plan to order yet another for my fall marathon Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Love the shoe but they wear through the inner of the heel cup and arches after only 21 hours of running. Did not even last me a month. Non commital response from New Balance regarding the problem, I hope that I can get my money back from the store here in Turkey. I think the problem lies with the blue innersoles which are quite abrasive, they would be much better with the older foam type inner soles. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Went for a 14-mile run on the first day I had these. I was a bit worried about running that distance first time out as I had previously had the 1223's a year ago and the toe box was too narrow for me. I have 2E feet and bunions, so I have a very wide forefoot and heard the 1224's were wider in the toe box (similar to the old 858's that I loved. I also wear my shoes very loosely laced, so now I have two runs under my belt with the 1224's and so far so good. Thinking about buying my backup pair since they're now under $100/pair as of May 6th, 2009! Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Buyer beware, probably some of the harshest most uncomfortable shoes I've ever purchased and yes I am a New Balance fan. I am all about a firm shoe but these things put unbelievable pain at the arch and ball of my foot. I even went so far as purchasing New Balance support insoles hoping this would fix the problem. Nope, more foot pain. Thanks New Balance for helping to empty my pocket of over $100+. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I have been worn 1220's for 7 years and loved 1220, 1221, 1222, and 1223. I have purchased two pairs of 1224s and began to suffer from painful heel problems until I switched to Nike Equalons...my heel problems have subsided. I have worn NBs for over 20 years and want to give the 1225s a try, but may stick with the Nikes until they stop making this model. I am 5'11 and 180. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Awesome shoe! As an overpronator who is 190 lbs I needed a shoe that offered stability and comfort. Went with the wider version and my feet have been in heaven! Wore them for the first time on a 17 mile run and my feet never felt better!!!!! Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I put 400+ miles on these, but have developed blisters in places I never had with the 1222's and 1223's. I've lost the New Balance loyalty. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Just ran 7.5 miles in a brand new pair of 1224's. I had been looking for a shoe with more forefoot cushion and these shoes felt great in that department. I have run in a stability shoe for a long time, but my legs just don't take the pounding like they used to. These were really nice. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I have been a loyal NB guy for several years. The only shoe I did not like was the 1221...until now. The 1224 is the worst NB shoe I have ever worn. I was angry that I paid $140 for a brand/model that I thought I could count on. I wanted to throw these shoes in the trash can. The fit is terrible - too much room in the toebox AND in the heal. The point of the second eyelet for the shoestrings kill my right foot. After I figured out what was causing the pain, I wound up just skipping this eyelet with the shoestrings. I'll try to tolerate them for a while, but am considering ditching them and switching to Asics. I am coming to the conclusion that NB is simply experimenting with this series of shoes for marketing purposes instead of keeping loyal runners in mind. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I agree with Davis. I had the 1223 and once they discontinued was told the 1224 would be the same. NO WAY!!! NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! It's an okay shoe but not for the price. I had to put extra foot padding in this shoe because of shin pains. Never had this before and I'm an ABSOLUTE NEW BALANCE FAN!! Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Good stability shoe. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs, and a loyal NB customer, but first-time 12XX shoe user. The toe box seemed a bit too roomy at first, but I tightened up the laces in front, and as my runs got longer, I appreciated the extra room. It could use a bit more forefoot cushioning, (but that may just be my running style and personal preference). Overall, a fine shoe on the long runs. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: They felt great to walk in when they were brand new but my heel got sore after just a few runs. They also wore out quicker than the 1222. They are not as good as previous models. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: This is the best running shoe yet. I love the wide toe box and wear size 13-4E. It is so difficult to find a running shoe with sufficient room in the toe box. I hope NB continues to make it that way with there 1225s and 1226s. It's foot heaven for guys with big feet ,yet slim 6' 155 lbs. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Don't like it Love the 1222 and 1223, no support on my heels and arch, not worth the money. Please new balance listen to your customers and bring back the 1222 and 1223 or make a shoe just like them. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: Run on Bricks much? Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I bougth 2 pair of the 1224 this summer. Have been running in 1223-1222 and so on. But It took me no more than a few months, then it felt like running with a flat tire. Thougt i was going crazy, but i guess i am not alone. Comments about Mens New Balance 1224 Running Shoe: I love these shoes - I am a big new balance fan and these are the best. At 6'4" and 210 lbs, I get plenty of cushion. They feel light and fast and have worn well with over 700 miles on them.
