Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: This shoe is very comfortable for my daily runs. It accomodates my orthotics with no problem and because I have wide feet, the toe box is quite adequate. I will stick with the 883 and if there is an upgrade, I will stick with its successor. I am the type to stick with what works for me. I convinced my running partner to try a pair and he is just as much a fan of the 883 as I am.
Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I have been using the 870/880 series for apx. 20 years. I made the mistake of buying the 1123 (see my review). The 883 is a great shoe in terms of cushioning and support. I like the New Balance SL-2 fit system. I am 6'0" and 175 pounds. I have not had any problems with these shoes. I am sticking with what works and doesn't hurt. Pros

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: Few manufacturers make athletic shoes wide enough. I also am a supinator. This shoe is the only one that works for me.

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: Finally! A shoe that fits a flatfooted person but doesn't try to correct your gait. I wear custom orthotics (from a Podiatrist), so I don't need a shoe to fix anything. I just need one that will accomodate them well and FIT MY FLAT FEET. The NB SL2 lasts do that, and the 883 is the ultimate solution for me. The orthotics fit perfectly, and they're great on the treadmill. I'll stock up on these, believe me.

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: The NB 883 is a unique shoe, and I've tried a great many. I have almost flat feet but need a neutral--I don't pronate. The 883 does the trick. It's also cushy and foot-conforming, with a good deal of toe room. And being an NB means it comes in a range of wide sizes, which I also need. My ownly real complaint is that it would be nice to have a different color choice. The white/grey model is kinda boring.
Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I have always have a very hard time finding a shoes that would fit my feet. in all aspeacts. With ALL other shoes that I have tried I eaither got one that fit my arch and did not help my underpronation. Or the order way around. I was weary of trying this shoe. But I said what the heck if they don't work then I can always return them!!! NO NEED for that!!! I called back and ordered 3 more pairs so I can rotate! This is the BEST SHOE EVER Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: Great shoe, though my favorite version in this series was the cushy 880. I disagree with Richard Roth who gave it a 1 star... previous shoes in this series never really had "ample arch support." No plastic or dense (greyish) foam anywhere in the heal. No plastic or stability in the middle. This series has always been a cushioned/neutral shoe. Pros

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: Good above average shoe. For the past 5+ years I've been running in this shoe, I've never had a running injury. I'm 50 now and run an ave. of 18 miles/week. These shoes last me a predictable 4 months or about 300 miles before going flat. Still some good wear left for walking around.

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: Recently switched from the 1123. These feel wonderful with the cushion and less weight. Never able to fully get thru marathon training with the 1123, but these worked wonders - at least with my feet/gait/past injuries.
Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: They feel great with my orthotics in them. Large toe box and good for walking or running. Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I really like these shoes, they are much lighter than the 882s they replace, a huge plus. They wear well and my orthotics fit well. They are a little slow, I've a pair of Nikes that I race in, but these are great for long runs around the neighborhood where time isn't an issue. Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I have owned 5 pairs of shoes from this series so obviously I liked them. However, the 883 represents a significant change in design and I found the fit so poor that I had to return them. Previous models have had ample arch support but these do not. When they say that they work well for flat arches they mean it. They do not work well for high arches like previous models did Pros

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I am into my third pair of these shoes. Great for my long runs and dealing with the Hawaii heat.

Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I've run in 883s for years and I'm sorry to seem them go. I order a slightly larger size, pull out the insole and replace it with a full orthotic. It accomodates it well and is stiff enough to let the orthotic do its job.
Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: These shoes were recommended to me by a running store. I have normal to high arches. These shoes are eating me up. They are truly for low arch runners. Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I have run in this series fore ever and have been very happy until now. At 210#, usually turn over shoes at 330 miles. These shoes felt good as usual and fsat but began breaking down at 150 miles. I am now looking to try another shoe. (ASICS Nimbus 11) Comments about Mens New Balance 883 Running Shoe: I have flat feet but do not have the typically associated over-pronation (I am neutral). For me, this shoe works perfectly! These are not jack-of-all-trades shoes (they don't claim to be), and these will not provide adequate support for high arches. But when NB claims "The best choice for neutral runners with flat arches," this is the truth. Previous reviewer rated them a 1, but I think he expected it to work for high arches. Read the description - if you're flat/neutral, these fit the niche! If you need arch or over-pronation support, I recommend ASICS Foundation 8's.
