I have never wanted to like a shoe as much as this one

My background is barefoot running. I made the transition to running barefoot close to 10 years ago. I was looking for a pair of shoes that I could wear to run outdoors during winter months and these came so close to fitting the bill. They were light. They were small. They had an unusually wide toe box that fit my unusually broad feet.

But, alas, it was just not meant to be. These shoes suffer from the same defect that most traditional running shoes do, a rigid arch support. After running in them 2x a week for 3 weeks, my knees started hurting. The last time my knees hurt it was when I was running in traditional shoes before I made the barefoot transition.

If you have a gait that benefits from a neutral running shoes, these would be awesome. They're exceedingly light. The elastic nature of the upper allows the shoe to fit your foot in the same way that a good glove fits your hand. They're incredibly comfortable. It's just unfortunate that my gait isn't compatible with a traditional running shoe.

As close to the original frees you'll find nowadays

Best Uses

    I was the number one fan of the original Nike Frees. I wore the same pair from 2010 thru 2015. I ran several marathons and halfs in that same pair. They were great!

    In true Nike fashion, they changed a good thing and the Frees since then have not been as good (narrow, too high of a heel, etc.). These shoes are just as good as the originals.
