These are by far the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I am a 64 yr. old woman who walks a lot, on average 6 or 7 miles most days, only occasionally skipping a day. I walk on mostly asphalt walking trails, sometimes wooded trails. Years ago I broke some bones in one of my feet and sometimes have some pain in that foot, but these shoes are the best at alleviating my foot problems on the trail. They are very lightweight and energizing. It is amazing how much difference a lightweight shoe can make on long walks. They are also the most comfortable shoe that I have ever worn as already stated and I think that is due to the lightweight of the shoes and also the knit material that the top of the shoe is composed of. It gives in the right places and does not rub and I never get blisters with these shoes, although I do wear light socks with them. They give my older feet enough support on the bottom of the shoe without being bulky or heavy. This is my third pair of Nike 4.0 flyknit shoes, having worn them for a few summers now. I think the newer version that I have now is a little less constrictive in the flyknit material, which I like even better than the older flyknit versions of the shoe. I ordered a half size larger as suggested, but question whether this is really necessary because the flyknit stretches with your foot, but they are still good in fit. The only con about this shoe that I can see is that they are not warm enough for winter in my area and are not waterproof, but they are still my favorite shoe because of the great comfort and joy of walking in them.

I've ran for years in "Stability" Shoes and initially bought these just to hang out and walk. After a few days of feeling so comfortable, however, I REALLY wanted to try them out on a 5k...just to try. It was LOVE at first run. These shoes are so light that your feet do feel free. My stride is effortless and I feel I can run forever. So far I pushed up to 1/2 marathon distance with them (and PRed!) in total comfort.
My guess is, when I was a beginner, flexible shoes would trigger ITB band issue, but as I became stronger (quads, hamstrings, foot muscles, calves) I needed less and less support. What I take out of this is that as your body evolves, so should your shoes. you are not stuck in only one type. Experiment and see for yourself:)

I adore the Free 4.0. ADORE. It actually suprised me. They feel like socks, only socks that you can run long distances in. Just enough cushion and support, yet a low enough drop and amazing flexibility for people with feet needing some extra freedom to get away from that annoying feeling that your laces are pressed against the wrong spot. Just be careful, of course!

BUT WHY ARE THEY NEVER INCLUDED IN ANY SPECIAL SALES? I want to use my VIP extra 15% off code to buy them, but they are NEVER included in these extra sales. Personally, I'm much more likely to buy other things in the same order. Even a discount on popular shoes would encourage me to buy other items, thus increasing sales for RRS. Otherwise I go searching for deals elsewhere. When they finally DO go on sale, it's when the popular sizes are completely out on the "pretty" ones.

I am 85 and love to walk but kept buying the wrong shoe's and they hurt my feet, I went on a trip with my daughter and my shoes were killing me, we wear the same size and she had on the Nike Free 4.0,we traded shoes and they were wonderful so ordered me some when I got home, I walk over a mile every day at the Sports center and more on trips and other places, I like them so well I got another pair this week, I love them, thanks Nike and Road Runner, my feet are feeling so much better. Your never too old to learn.

These are the best Nike frees I have owned so far! The breath ability in the top is awesome and they are so light. I now want every color.
