I loved the Cadence 3 but the 4 was a let down. After one 20 miler, the stupid tongue design rubbed enough on my lower shin to draw blood. The tongue is not plush and because of just the tongue, I returned them ASAP. They also changed the laces which used to be different and now they are typical and boring. But the comfort is still there and if you don't have any issues with the tongue, you are good to go.

Look, Im an absolute Brooks fan and SPECIFICALLY because of the PureCadence line. I ran the 2s and 3s into the dirt, literally. I can say I bought no less than 6 pairs of each edition and love them without a doubt. I was beyond stoked to see the 4s come out and the color line is killer. Since I run 50+ miles a week I tend to toast my shoes quick and need to go through lots of pairs so Im dying for new color ways by the time they come out. I was in love, then I put them on... They felt great, smooth as ever, maybe even more so, BUT why o why did they get rid of the burrito tongue, WHY?!?! I wanted to hate, but just can't. It took one run to get used to it, a small minimal blister that goes away if you just keep putting more miles in. I never wear socks and Im not about to start now. I want to give a 5 star but just can't because the burrito tongue in past releases was the end all best feature. Give us back the burrito tongue in the 5 series and you'll have 5 stars again by most all. DONT BE A HATER AND ADJUST. Life throws all sorts of shizz your way, just throw down and get back on it!
Pros Cons Best Uses I've loved every iteration of this shoe...until now. This is perhaps the porest generational change Brooks has ever made for any shoe. The fit has dramatically narrowed, gone is the natural anatomical shape with its easy curved shape; as mentioned earlier, the shoe now sports a traditional, if not uncomfortable straightened shape. The tongue is no longer seamlessly attached to the shoe, it is now a separate piece, so long that it rubs against the inside of the ankle. If you have previously used pure cadence for quick, comfortable transitions or run barefoot, you will be sorely disappointed. This generation appears to be an after-thought, cheaply made and poorly designed. It is a completely different shoe. It pains me to say that Brooks has thrown out everything that made this shoe a winner- complete DISAPOINTMENT.
Pros
Cons
Best Uses I have run extensively in every version of the Pure Cadence. Version 4 is to be avoided at all costs. Brooks mistakenly modified the top of the shoe by including a traditional tongue and a very wide opening for the laces. The show looks too narrow as the two sides of the shoe are separated so far. Go back to Pure Cadence 3. Ugh.
