Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

Please don't stop making them in black! They're becoming widely popular with law enforcement and are wonderful for being on your feet all day. Black however is the only color our profession allows! Please rethink discontinuing them in all black

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I recently traveled to Peru to complete a 7 day, 6 night hike of the Salkantay to Inca Trail to Machu Picchu trek. I cannot express how satisfied I am with the Hoka Tor Ultra Hi WP. The terrain was everything from dirt path, to rock, to water, to grass. Never once did I slip, never once did I turn an ankle, and never once did I not love my hiking shoes. You've got a customer for life!

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

Used them on a 5 day, 93 mile hike on the Wonderland Trail in Washington and then followed that with a 10 day hike on the Haute Route from Chamonix, FR to Zermatt, CH. They exceeded my expectations. No foot pain, no blisters, no complaints. Socks never got wet on stream crossings. There is velcro-like ankle coller that does a great job impeding fine debris from entering the boot, such that gaiters are never required. Less weight than most similar boots. Enough cushion to not feel sharp scree. Dry fast and don't ever feel damp on multi-day use. Durable enough for expedition hikes with 25 pound pack. They work fine in the Alps. Heavier duty traditional leather boots are not needed.

Last year I used Hoka Stinsons on the Tour du Mont Blanc with no problems, but would recommend Dirty Girls gaiters to keep more of the debris out of your shoe.

To have extremely happy feet while hiking, my best other recommendations as a podiatrist are: 2 Toms Sport Shield/Blister Shield for blister prevention, Injinji toe sock liners (thin) under regular socks, and a custom footbed/orthotic if packing any weight. Hope this helps.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

Using these hi-tops to walk the Great Glen trail in Scotland. Rainy wet and muddy is the name . WP only goes to mid ankle, as the tongue is seperate and no gussets go up the shin. step too deep and your foot will probably get wet. That said, wading in deep water is not what the shoe is for. THe Hoka soles are awesome, and the concussion absorption is a great benefit. If there were better sole relief for a gaiter strap, that would be an improvement, but on the whole, I think these are great at doing the job I asked of them. Comfort is off of the charts.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

just returned from a 120 mile backpack with these boots after a very short 30 mile break in period.
I cannot tell you how comfortable these boots were ....whether we were on rocky trail or unstable off trail. We walked through creeks, day long rain, snow, and loose rocky trails. These boots were rock solid. No break in period needed and my feet loved them.
They are not water proof at all and after a short time ...water resistance is really not a factor as they will allow water in but dried out pretty quickly over night for the most part.
The durability of the sole and toe guards are sure suspect as my boots show some serious rock damage on the toe area but the soles held up much better than I thought.
I definitely recommend these boots to anyone looking for a comfortable, supportive alternative to trail runners. They are worth it !

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I've went on 2 backpacking trips with these boots so far and have put on about 40 miles on them. It was in the southern Sierras so pretty rocky steep terrain. I'll start with the positives: They are extremely comfortable and required no break in. They are also very light and really provide less impact on your legs making my hikes feel way better than they did before. I've had knee pain in the past and never once experienced that with these boots. The "Vibrum Mega traction" does grip dry rocks and terrain very well. The boots are also water proof as I walked through a river to test. Now for the negatives: The boots already are showing wear on the bottom and I worry that all the traction will be pretty worn off by the end of summer. Most of the inner traction of these boots is just made of the foam shaped into grip which is the most fragile part of the boot and wears down almost instantly. This section also makes walking on wet rocks extremely slippery and unstable. I am putting that I wouldn't recommend these until I put some more miles on them as I think they are going to wear out too fast.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I used these on an 11-day thruhike of the JMT in September. I usually do that hike wearing low-cut mesh trailrunners, but I saw these Hokas in Roadrunner and thought they looked interesting, so I took the risk. They were perfect. I had no foot pain, ankle pain, shin pain, or blisters, and usually I get plenty of those. I was able to do 20+ mile days and not feel worn out. Usually I'm a 15-miler. I anticipated that the waterporofing would be a negative in the Sierra, but in fact I was glad of it when it rained all day. I didn't have any problems with sweating. I liked that the cuffs are very soft and flexible - this acted like a gaiter almost, and kept all the dirt and grit out. Ankle support is not an important issue for me, I don't feel it's worth getting heel blisters for. I feel like these boots have really improved my enjoyment of hiking long distances. The only negative I noticed was that the inserts had a slightly harsh upper edge, and this started to irritate in a few spots as the miles piled up. I was able to trim off the offending areas and it was fine after that. Highly recommend these boots.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I have been having a lot of trouble finding the right boots - my research involves hiking up to 20 miles on boulder fields and rocks, down dry creek beds and generally off trail in the desert. Every boot I have tried in the past year hurt my feet after a few hours, making for miserable travel. I was aiming on taking my Hoku One One running shoes, but I really needed the ankle support for rolling on the rocks. As soon as I saw the M TOR ULTRA HI WP on the website I ordered a pair. Now at the end of a trek, everything is sore except my feet. These boots have great support, great traction...eevrything you would expect from Hoku One One - but the best part is that they cushion even the gnarliest jagged rocks. I can jump from rock to rock in full confidence, and even after 20 miles - no problem. The laces make for full top to bottom adjustments so you can have full control over the fit. I have never been more pleased with a pair of hiking boots.

This is my second review after having these boots for a little over a month. I've hiked at least 100 miles so far on some rough terrain. Mt Wilson, Mt Baldy, and now Mt Whitney. I did 18 miles on my Whitney hike in one day, up 3500 ft, down 6000 ft, on some of the roughest rocky terrain I've been on. I slipped maybe twice, had a couple of times where my ankle rolled, and had a single blister. Honestly I don't think the boot exists that will make your feet feel perfect after a hike like I just did, but these were the best so far. boots could have a little more room in the toe box and I find it hard to get them tied in such a way as to really keep your heel in place when you are going downhill. Still, I was in pain after the hike, but have recovered after a good night resting. Ankle support, great. Traction, great. One bad thing is that the soft sole might not handle the repeated punishment of the granite of the high Sierras like some other shoes. I wore them down some and the sole seems to be very weathered in places. Time will tell. Overall, these are great and I can't wait to see what else these guys do for my feet with their products.

I have very bad feet and a bum knee. I also wear orthotics. My pedorthist approved of these boots for me and I absolutely love them. I wear them 99% or the time for all activities, even running errands. They accommodate my orthotics and are super comfortable. If I can get a couple more months out of them they will be 2 yrs old. I have never been able to wear a pair of shoes/boots that long. They are incredible in every sense of the word, and I am on my feet a whole lot. I even wear they on my elleptical trainer. Great ankle support which helps my knee.

Having switched to Hoka Stinson Trail shoes for relay and trail running a few years ago I was excited when I saw the Tor Ultras coming out earlier this year as I was searching for a good hiking boot to tackle Glacier this year.

Put about 100 miles on them on local trails before heading to Glacier in September. Did 40+ miles in Glacier in the cold and wet weather we were greeted with, carrying a 50lbs pack and never once had an issue with my feet.

Since then I have probably put another 100 miles on them on the local trails and they are still in good shape. The soles haven't seemed to wear that much and still provide me great traction running down steep grades.

Very interesting concept, very light. Durability remains to be seen.

Please please please make your toe boxes bigger!

Also, the lacing running down to the tip of the toe is completely extraneous and smells like a "designer" decision. Who would want to crank on their laces and smash their toes together?

Knowing the extreme nature of the event itself I didn't know if the shoe would hold up to the stress. I was wrong. The GORUCK Challenge consisted of 12 hours of continual subjection to Cadre harassment (physical conditioning training) and carrying heavy objects over long distances. The shoes were comfortable right from the box. I got them the DAY of the event. Not the smartest thing to do however my feet would have been 10x worst without the soft soles under my feet. The weight of cement parking blocks were crushing at times however the traction in wet conditions and in sand was terrific and kept the load in check. I will be wearing them on a GORUCK Heavy 24 hour event soon and will report back. Highly recommend. Lace easy with gloves on, super soft, flexible, mesh with the terrain.

In the video they claim it keeps the water out, it does not do that at all, it is not waterproof/resistant. Other than that I love the shoe, but I live high in the mountains and we get a lot of snow. I have severe pain in my feet due to a spinal cord tumor and this shoe let's me hike a full day with no worse pain than normal.

I have to say EVERY step I take is a pure blessing, but with the HOKA ONE ONE TOR Ultra Hi WP's on my feet it's as if I'm walking on pillows with ankle support! I look forward to recovering more and more everyday, thanks to these shoes and the recommendation from a friend!

I just got done wearing these boots for over 150 miles on and off trail though Alberta Canada.....the conditions were muddy, wet, and snowy. Mostly cool to cold conditons. my feet felt great even as the days exceed 11-12 miles of bakpacking. I highly recommend these boots with the only caution is that thread may wear out quicker than hardier soles and the boots are not waterproof. I am sold on Hoka One One.

This boot is near perfection: very stable laterally, soft foot bed, light in weight, super gripping sole, really a dream for us compulsive footwear lovers. You have really outdone yourself, Hoka. I hike on a trail that has imbedded
rocks so I need a super stable boot.

HOWEVER! Consider adding a "WIDE" size option. The toe box area is a bit tight for those of us who have wide feet and/or high arches.

Thank you for this outstanding and stellar piece of foot art, Hoka. This is a world-class product.

I went on a backpacking trip of a life time to the wind rivers in Wyoming. Halfway through the hike these shoes hurt my ankles so bad that I couldn't hike any longer I had to set up camp and rest my feet over night. I was hoping the pain would stop but every time I would put these shoes on it felt like somebody was putting a knife in my ankle.
These shoes ruined my trip!!! I would never recommend these shoes to anyone they are the worst hiking boots I have ever owned.

I like to walk and hike often. I also have the beginnings of Morton's Neuroma because i wore shoes that were too narrow and tight for years. In these shoes allow my feet to heal as i wear them. I spent hundreds of dollars on physical therapy, not any more. The more I can wear these shoes the better my feet feel.

I am outside landscaping or playing every day. I have been trying to find a boot that is comfortable, provides support, and that eliminates the foot pain that I encounter by the middle to end of every day. This boot is the winner so far, and I have tried many. If the toe box was slightly wider, and if these prove to be durable, then I would say they are close to perfect.

I'm 6'3" 220 and am 45 years old. I'm in the process of training for Mt. Whitney in August. I've tried most of the boots out there and all have their issues. Keen, Asolo, Vasque, Lowa, Solomon, all have issues with my feet. Blisters, soreness, knees hurt, etc. I have the Hoka 11 Stinson trail runners and they are great. I saw these boots and without even being able to touch them or see them in person I ordered them in a size 13. I've already put about 30 miles on them but none of this under the load of a 30-50lb pack. Not sure if I'll get to this until I go for my summit. So far, they have been great. My feet feel good after a good hike. I'll be doing Mt. Wilson and then Mt. Baldy over the next two weekends and will put them through their paces. So far, these may be the best boots I've owned for my style of hiking. The only real bad thing I'll say is that they don't have a good edge on them for climbing rocks where you need to get that edge into the granite crags. For a trail or even a little rock scrambling, they are great. Just realize the squishy nature of the sole.

The HOKA ONE ONE Tor Ultra WP are very good hiking/walking boots. They are very well made, are easy to put on and take off, and are light as a feather. The lining and insoles are sm ooth as silk against your feet. The VIBRAM soles are state of the art; good grip, yet not clunky in any way. You can't go wrong with these HOKA ONE ONES shoes. They are the greatest!
