Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I went on a four day solo backpack (I'm a girl) to climb four 14,000 ft mountains and one 13,000 ft mountain in Colorado. I have had six knee surgeries and two hip surgeries. My Hoka Trail Runners have helped me keep walking and trail hiking but the sole was not grippy so not good for hiking mountains.

I wore the boots around the house for two days and decided to chance taking them as my only boot as I was trying to be ultralight.

I was fooled by the conditions, encountering snowfields and much more rock scrambling than I expected. I had about 8-10 stream crossings/day with some being sizable. I was confident in my experience but was wondering if I had made a grave mistake not bringing my mountaineering boots which would limit my ability to climb the mountains I had planned.

These boots rocked the house! They were not durable enough to kick steps in hard snow but great for soft snow. They were tremendously grippy on rock for scrambling. I would suggest the flare on the sole be lower profile so edging on rock is more accurate. The flare took some mental getting used to.

The Event fabric liner kept my feet dry even when the outside of the boot was damp from snow or stream crossings. They dried very fast in the sun.

These boots are amazing for anyone who is having trouble playing outdoors due to joint issues. My feet would ache after carrying a 30lb pack for 6 miles but my knees and hip did great, for the first time in several years.

Thank you so much for these great boots! You have made it possible for me to play in the mountains again! :)

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I've use the Tor for hiking, rock scrambling and general camp wear. They are light, comfortable, supportive and have incredible traction. I haven't seen much wear on the outsoles yet, although I don't expect the outsoles to last forever. However, I have worn these in deep mud, sandstone (both wet and dry), on roots and trails. This outsold provide amazing traction, especially on wet surfaces. These boots can be worn all day, and are incredibly comfortable. I liked these so much I bought a second pair.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I was a hiker and walker until an foot fracture grounded me. I spent 6 months on crutches rather than having a foot fusion. Now that these dandy boots are in my life I am able to walk for increasingly longer times. The sole and support of ankle highs have opened my life up.I am thrilled and grateful for the Hokas.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I used these boots regularly for local mountain hiking and pack training with a 20 pound pack. I sometimes hiked in 95+ degree temps and did have some heat rash issues around the ankle area and top of the feet. This leads me to believe the eVent liner couldn't vent fast enough and I had a moisture problem in the boot. The boot was amazingly comfortable on flat, single-track trails. They cushion wonderfully and have amazing traction. Routine creek crossings were no problem. We recently went on a long backpacking trip with 35 pound packs. The added weight created a problem. While the boots shill cushioned wonderfully, because the soles are not stiff, my feet had to work a lot more to stay balanced and move forward. After a long day, my feet were crampy and achy and just not good. This does not happen with my stiff sole, traditional backpacking boots. I love Hoka's and wear both trail and road running shoes and I have been backpacking in the mid-top boots but with an ultralight pack. Before going on this trip, I wrote to Hoka to ask about the recommended weight load for the boots. The very responsive rep did not know the max weight. I know it's an unusual question. I think I've found the answer! Since this is a flexible sole boot, I think it's best not to carry a load heavier than 25 pounds (preferably less) to avoid overworking the foot and causing pain and cramps. (Or, do a lot of foot strengthening work before using them for heavier loads.). I am still a devoted Hoka fan but, sadly, will have to use traditional boots for long trail treks which require heavier loads.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

i live near Santa Fe, NM, and I walk my dogs every day in arroyos, sides of hills, rocks, etc. I have tried numerous hiking boots. I need ankle support so liked the idea of this boot being a bit higher and light weight. two of my sisters have walking shoes by Hoka so i decided to take the expensive plunge. i normally wear a 10/10.5. i had tried the shorter height hiking boot on in a store size 11 cause that's all they had. Way too big. i ordered this boot in, now i can't remember if i ordered 10 or 10.5 but it was too big. sent that back and ordered a 9.5. This is generally a good fit though there is way too much room from the ball of foot to the front. I like a snugger fit. This also contributes to how huge the boot looks. i think a lot of people would find this unattractive. i took photos of hoka next to my old boots which are a 10.5. the Hokas look bigger from all angles!! I will keep them as the cushion is great and the traction is great. They have teeth on the bottom. It seems most hiking boots are like a solid piece with treads cut out instead of treads protruding.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

I'm 63 and used to be rabid hiker until arthritis set into the top mid foot. Pain stopped my hiking. Headed for surgery but these are a huge help in the meantime.
I purchased the hi top boot after looking at some Hoka Boots my friends had. With custom inserts these Hi Top Hikers are allowing me to hike again, just not as far. I did not check the box for good arch support because of my own inserts, so don't know about that. I would highly recommend this boot to anyone, it cushions the foot and you can't feel the rocks; the ankle support is awesome. I think this product would be great for those who suffer from Plantar Faciitis (I've had the displeasure of having that in both feet too). I think these would be great for those who are on their feet all day. I know Hoka has other footwear that would not be as bulky as these hikers. I wear a ladie's 9 and bought a 10 and they're perfect. Thank you Hoka!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

This is my 4th pair of Hoka shoes. I have terrible feet and my podiatrist recommends a stiff-soled shoe, so Hoka is about all I wear! I got these boots to wear on a hiking trip in the Alps this summer, where we will be doing 10 miles and about 3000 ft elevation change every day for ten days. Right now I'm still wearing my new boots around the house to break in... But I'm very concerned about the lack of padding on the tongue and collar. I usually wear thin socks, and because these are pretty tall on the ankle I anticipate having to pad my ankles to wear them without chafing, either by using moleskin or by knitting boot toppers myself. All my other Hoka shoes have good padding in this area, so I'm not sure why it was eliminated on these. Once I solve that problem I expect them to be up to the usual Hoka standard of excellence. The only other thing I could wish for is for a wide version... For those of us with duck paddle feet.

I am relitively new to walking or any exercise for that matter but did start walking about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I advanced up to walking between 7-12 miles/day, I pulled a muscle and was having difficulty getting back up to the same level. These shoes did it for me. They provided stability and comfort. I wear them all day, every day. I love them.

They run about 1/2 a size big. I usually wear 10 and could wear 9.5 I'm keeping them though to allow for thicker socks in winter, to be sure my toes aren't cramped, etc. and my feet don't slide around in the heel area. Also allows room for inserts. I bought them primarily for gardening with some hiking/walking in the woods, etc. Wore them only, for 4 days straight, and my feet never hurt. I have a bad tendon in one foot and need extra ankle support. Ordered the green ones and have gotten compliments on the color. These are worth the price.

I loved my very cushioning Hoka One One running shoes and felt grateful to received my new boots before a 8 days camping trip. I walked and stood almost all day and my new boots did not tired me out at all. There's no hot spot or any issue to break into the boots. I was very satisfy about their waterproof ability since my friend accidentally poured a bucket of water on my boots. I did not went for hiking so I could not share how the boots perform during long hike.
I expected the color would be closer to red than purple. but that's not a big issue for me. The boots covered with dust anyway. I already ordered the black pair for my son and the flame design was a big hit.

I have a variety of foot problems, have to wear a rocker sole, this could be improved in this shoe, for my needs.
Very comfortable, sole is very thick and padded well. I can wear it on my job as a plant waterer in large plant nursery. I am on my feet in sun for 7.5 hours a day, this shoe is very comfortable, I love it, really. I cannot run, but do not slip in this shoe. Perhaps I misunderstood the rocker sole part, but I got used to this shoe quickly. It does not protect against nerve pain in toes and ball of foot, because it bends, probably this is necessary for the runners. I paid retail for this shoe, and it was worth every penny!

Love the shoe but too narrow for my fat foot!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP Hiking Shoe:

This shoe is so comfortable! Unfortunately my right foot is super wide and the widest part of the shoe just wan't wide enough for my foot no matter what size I tried. Instead, I ended up with the Hoka mid, which may not support as much backpack weight but is insanely comfortable and will hopefully hold up for most of my hiking adventures, though I have yet to try them out. I got the green thinking they would be a bit more toned down but actually found the red to be a more appealing and subdued color. Fit seems true to size and I would have absolutely kept these boots if my fat foot wasn't a problem!

This shoes are by far the best hiking shoe. I paced my friend in THE leadville 100 run up over Hope Pass. This shoes saved my ankles, no rocks in my shoes and amazing support all the way around.
