Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I'm 47 years old, 6'3", 205 lbs. I've tried many Hokas and, though I do like the original Cliftons, Clifton 2s and 3s were much too narrow for my feet, causing chaffing, blisters, etc. Claytons are much roomier in the toebox and a lighter/faster shoe as well, making them my go to choice on the race day. For training, I am sticking with the original Challengers which are as roomy as Claytons but can go off-road and take more abuse.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I've been a fan of the Clifton since they first came out, and the Clayton is an upgrade over what had previously been my favorite racing shoe. The Clayton is both more cushioned and more stylish than the Clifton, and a very soft ride for your 5K or your marathon. The only minor drawback, as is mentioned in other reviews, is that at first there is a slight blister/hot spot issue. I noticed this on my first two or three runs in the Claytons, but I now have 30 or so miles on them and the problem seems to have gone away. So give them a chance, and don't panic about hot spots at first. These are great shoes.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

On July 2016 I bought a pair of Hoka One One and the main reason I bought them was because I have a total hip replacement and I had made my mind that I was going to walk, waddle, jog, and run the San Antonio Rock & Roll Half Marathon to raise money for South Texas Food Bank. Well to make this story short I did NOT walk and ran the 13.1 miles. Besides not walking the entire race it was raining from start of the race believe or not until the 12 mile the rain stop. The final analysis I wore the Hoka One One through puddles of water. I am 54 years old and have to be very careful with my training due to my hip and have a couple of goals for 2017. To those runners that are just starting I highly recommend a pair of Hoka One One and patience "One Day at Time, One Mile a Day".

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I love the Claytons. I average 30-40 miles a week, year round, and run the NYC Marathon every year(about to run my 21st).
I switched to Hokas 3 years ago, after long battles with plantar fasciitis.
I bought 4 pairs of Cliftons over 2 years, and the plantar problems never returned.
This year, I switched to the Claytons and I love them. They're light, comfortable, supportive and fast. The tongue and lace system are a big improvement from the Cliftons.
I use them for all my running. Short races, speedwork, trail runs and marathons.
I'm completely happy with the Claytons.

2nd pair of HOKAS that I have owned and I love them! Wish I could afford to buy another pair of them in yellow. Perhaps the price will come down a little more. I have a pair of Bondis and just purchased the Arahis. The nurses who take such good care of me love them as well! I send everyone to my friends ar GottaRunClemson/Simpsonville/Spartanburg. They know what they are doing. I am loyal to HOKAS and to the GottaRun folks. Bile Duct Cancer is killing me but, at least I have the best footwear...

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

Finally a Hoka was barely wide enough for me to run in. Luckily, it was their best shoe. Light and respnsive. The forefoot is cushioned without being mushy and unstable, which helps me run more efficiently. The heel is more forgiving for when I need it.
        Two issues remain:
        1) the toebox could stand to be even wider. Perhaps this shoe should also be available in widths?
        2) the stays that wraps the forefoot are useless and create uncomfortable friction points, especially in the medial arch. Get rid of them.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

The Clayton is great! Ok, so some of the negative reviews scared me but I needed a lightweight, cushioned, fast shoe. Long list of common issues from over pronation to foot pains, etc. I've tried it all from custom inserts to motion control shoes so I wanted to give the Clayton a shot. The first 20 miles in the shoe needed some getting used to. I Tried different socks and dealing with some hot spots. The shoe finally broke in after 30 miles, try wearing them just to walk the dog and get used to them also. I now have over 60 miles on the shoe and they feel better and better each run. Bottom line, I look forward to my runs a lot more now without worrying about shoe issues. Thanks Hoka...

I am training for Boston Marathon. The shoes I have been training in have been feeling heavy after 18 miles. I read about the Hoka One One. Tried them on and was sold. In two weeks logged 60 miles increased my speed by 15 seconds per minute. Cant wait till Marathon Monday to put them to the test. Pryor to wearing the Hoka, My left knee and lower back were flaring up. No Pain with the Hoka.

felt great in the store and for a few miles. I have the clifton 1 clifton 2 and 2 versions of the stinson. apart from having to cut my toebox in the original clifton (which took me to a 2:50 marathon at age 50) I had no issues with more reviews. I wanted a replacement for the clifton 1 and tried the clayton. first time I got blisters I figured it was a fluke. healed up and put in the closet. second and third time I got blisters I put them back in the closet and bit the loss. strange they feel great walking around. my wife knows what I payed for them so occasionally I put them on when I'm back from a run so she will think I still use them.

From all shoes I ever had, they really deserve a place in my top 3... I really enjoy how comfortable, plushy and responsive they are, I just ran a half-marathon PR on them (1:24:44) and felt just great.
Shoes have enough room for wide feet, no blister issues at all as some folks had. I won't bother at all having to buying a second pair of same model (which I have never had)... These shoes make me a HOKA ONE ONE ambassador (without any sponsorship sadly)...

Alright, I had high hopes for this shoe and have run in almost every running shoe there is to offer. About a year ago I was sold on hokas and enjoy all their models I have run in so far, my main shoe is the odyssey and I also run in bondi and clifton and have had no issues. I never get blisters in any shoes, all I can think of was back during track season track flats gave me blisters but nothing since. I have gotten a blister on my right medial side of foot every time I have done speed work or raced in these shoes, definitely trying out the tracer or using the clifton, very surprised by this as I am a huge Hoka fan in general, hope this helps.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I am going to start this by saying that I absolutely love this shoe! I have run several 20+km days and they hold up great, are incredibly light, and responsive. Yet they aren't perfect, and one very large drawback... the ARCHES! I have to tape my feet for anything more than a 5K, otherwise a nasty blister (primarily on the right arch) will rear it's ugly head. On one recent 25km training run the tall 'SHARP' arch actually cut through a brand new pair of injinji trail socks and into the tape. I see this is a problem with almost anyone and really wonder how this got passed Hoka's R&D Department. Hoka, you can do better than this, we believe in you!

My only complaint is the slight arch pinch/rub that others have mentioned. I find that if I wear compression socks I do not have that problem. Clayton is going to be my R&R Vegas Marathon shoe. With that said hopefully they fix that small issue in version 2 WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE.

I started running later in life, only for the past 7 years. I've been running in Hoka shoes for 2 years and absolutely love them. This model is SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT, and has an awesome toe box (you should be able to "play piano" with your toes, and can with these). Highly recommended for anyone putting in high and/or hard running miles.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I consider myself an avid runner. I'm 6'0" and 150 lbs. I just ran my 7th marathon in the Clayton after putting about 40 miles on them in training. I previously used the Clifton 2s for most of my training, but I was looking for a faster-paced shoe with a wider toe box. I was excited when the Clayton came out and I bought a pair right away for my race.

The shoes fit great. The wider toe box is definitely noticeable compared to the Clifton. The shoes are light and great for faster paced runs, but they also provide the great Hoka support as always. I had no issues with the shoes in my marathon, and I ran a PR by 16 minutes. I attribute a lot of that to my training, but I think the shoes were a great addition to race day.

My concern is the same as many others. When I received the shoes, I was nervous that quality was sacrificed for the sake of durability and weight. The design of the shoes is appealing, but in comparison to other brand names, the materials seem cheaper. The Hoka name on the back of the shoes literally looks like a simple sticker that was slapped on. I'm nervous they might not make it through 500 miles like many of my other shoes -- and I paid a pretty penny for it!

I also noticed that the tongue slides down in the shoe during runs, even when the laces are inserted through the tongue to hold it in place. I haven't had this problem with other models. It doesn't affect the feel of the shoe, but it's just something I noticed.

All in all, I love the shoe.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I used the Clayton for my last marathon and really enjoyed the ride. The firmness of the shoe makes it a great option for speed work as well as marathon distance. I wouldn't bother wearing the shoe for daily training unless you like a firm, responsive feel. The light build makes it a prime choice for those wanting a buttery smooth ride for race day.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

On my first run in this shoe (9.5 miles at 9:30/mi) I felt like a pin pricking on the inner side of the arch of both soles (part where both feet faces each other at the arch). After the run it became a blister. I had a fairly cushy socks on. This was my first blister experience in 6 years of running with different brands. What people mean by softness or cushioning is, how soft the sole is not the shoe as a whole.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

This is nice shoe, but did not work with my foot type. I rated it high due to all the nice features and can not fault the shoe for my foot shape. I ran in them multiple times over varying distances 4-7 miles each time and developed significant blisters on both arches. I did not feel that this would be something that I could live with or that the shoe would further conform to my foot shape. I would recommend trying these shoes as they were extremely comfortable otherwise.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

As a longtime Hoka runner (Clifton, Bondi, Stetson), I was hoping for a little more shoe based on what I read. What I got was a very lightweight shoe - not something I would run anything longer than a 5K in. Had hoped to use these shoes in Ironman Chattanooga and Marine Corps Marathon. Instead had to turn around and buy another pair of Cliftons. Not fun and an expensive mistake.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

First, I love Hoka One One! I purchased 6 pairs of Hoka One One Clifton version 1 and still wished I had a couple pairs stashed away...unfortunately I don't. I made the jump to Clifton version 2 and I had blisters on my arches, in-between my toes it was just all bad. Then I found the version 1 Oydessy and they felt a little heavier then Clifton 1's I fell in love with my Oydessy's buying 3 pairs and I am now on my last pair.

So it was time to decide Clifton version 3 or Clayton and after trying on the Clayton I so wanted them to work so I bought them. The first break in run I had issues with the left arch blistering. After reading a couple online articles they said to use an additional insert, so I did and it worked! I was super excited and then on my second run the HOT SPOT on the balls of my foot. Adjusted the laces multiple times, used body glide and I just can't seem to get it right. My last shot is to duct tape the balls of my feet because I love everything about these Clayton's except the hot spots. I have given my 1st pair 24 miles and lets hope this is an issue with just breaking them in.

If they don't workout, then I can't wait to test out the Clifton 3's.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I can't believe how wonderful my Hoka Clayton's are!!! I am 54-years-old and on 2012 I had a total hip replacement after 3 years of therapy now I am able to run. The sport that I love and many hate. On December 4th I am going to walk, waddle, jog and run the San Antonio Rock & Roll Half marathon. Beside my total hip replacement I also have high arches which has caused me great difficulties in finding a comfortable pair of shoes! I had avoided Hoka's on appearance for awhile. I advice not to do what I done I am not a pro athlete but I use to do be an average runner. I am a man in my mid 50s and after 2 decades of not running/training I can say now I am physically fit. I trained 4 miles a day except on Thursday, Friday I rest, and on Saturday's I run 8 miles. Besides my hip I also run on my forefoot it was annoying and uncomfortable using others running flats that are not suited for my style of running. I had decided this was just something I had to endure. Finally I got the courage to get my first pair of Hoka's. I am no longer in discomfort while training. Even though most of my training from Sunday through Wednesday I run on a treadmill and Saturday's I run on the roads. I used to would wake up with pain in my hips, but that too is gone.

My personal review: Get Them!!! Hoka has a customer for life! Wearing these shoes at age 54 I texted where I bought them and told him, "Where were this running flats when I was running my best (My PR in 5k-1424, 10k-29:56, 13.1 - 1:12, full marathon 2:42)" this running flats has changed my faith on running. I may not be able to run like I used to but wearing the Hoka's on my 8 miler and I am not annoy or discomfort like the others running flats I've worn in the past. Now I made my favorite 8 mile runs fun even if now I am running at 11 minute pace. I can get into a nice rhythm, and have the peace of running like I used to on my younger days. Hoka ONE ONE is the ONE!!!!!
I would recommend this to a friend

The shoes were very fast compared to my Clifton but they gave me blisters around the arch and big toe of my feet. I am in the army so I used them on a daily basis running a average of four to five miles a day and after several attempts to break them in they still keep giving me blisters around the arch of my feet.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I just ran a marathon in this shoe and had no complaints. But, I sure wish you could bring back the original Clifton. I ran five in it and it was my best marathon shoe ever. Clifton 2 I wouldn't buy again. I heard the 3 is better but still heavier. Bring back the original Clifton!

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I can't believe how wonderful my Hoka Clayton's are!!! I have high arches and supinate, which has caused me great difficulties in finding a comfortable pair of shoes! I avoided Hoka's on appearance for 3 years! DON'T DO WHAT I DID!!! I'm not a pro athlete or an endurance runner. I'm a guy in my mid 40s who just likes to be physically fit! I walk 7 miles a day and it always felt like I was walking on the side of my shoes, especially my right foot. It was annoying and uncomfortable. I had decided this was just something I had to endure...until I finally got my first pair of Hoka's! I am no longer in discomfort while workin out! In addition, I would wake up with tremendous pain in my hips, but that too is gone since I have been wearing my Clayton's. I'm usually a size 10, but a 9 1/2 felt a little better for me.

Here's my review: JUST BUY THEM!!! Hoka has a customer for life!!! Wearing these shoes has changed my life! I love power walking with my trusty boxer all over the neighborhoods I live around, but the annoying discomfort of other shoes I've worn in the past made my favorite activity a little bleak. Now, I can get into a nice rhythm, turn up the tunes, and get on down the road! Hoka ONE ONE!!!!!

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I had real high hopes for this shoe. My first run in this shoe and I couldn't believe the blisters they rubbed on both feet by mile 4. I thought about returning this shoe or what other options I could think of because even with the blisters I got I still liked the ride and feel of this shoe so I continued to run in it. I have to say I am glad I did not give up on this shoe and send it back cause after a few short runs ranging from 4 to 6 miles each this shoe is starting to feel really good. The hot spot issue has worked its way out and the shoe has gotten better with every run.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Clayton Running Shoe:

I have low arches and these are very comfortable. I run on roads, some easy trails and treadmill and used the shoes on all three types of runs with no issues. I like the light weight and breathability of the shoe. I have put about 80 miles on them so far. No rubbing or discomfort at all.
