Features & Benefits:
Super DNA Midsole: Dynamic cushioning underfoot
No-sew upper: Delivers ultimate comfort and an improved fit
Extended progressive diagonal rollbar: Guides body into natural motion path
I have medium to high arches and foot roles inward towards ankles ( over pronation ).
I walk minimum of 60 miles per month, average 100 miles, max 150-200 miles.
a. minimum of 3 miles per day typically first thing in morning.
b. typically 6 miles a day : 3 miles morning & evening
Since getting Beast 14s & 16s; the past few weeks I've easily been walking 5.5 to 7 miles in one session five days a week.
The Beast 14s & 16s should be excellent for prevention and recovery of plantar faciitis as the shoe is rigid from heel all the way to just behind the toes and the shoe cannot be twisted.
Beast 14s & Beast 16s do not fit nor feel same:
Normally I wear 12.0 D in all other shoes
Beast 14s I wear 12.5 D
Beast 16s I wear 13.0 D
a. Superb Cushioning.
b. Excellent Arch support.
c. Excellent Motion Control ( over pronation ) ankle roles inward.
Heel Box isn't very snug
Toe Box is a bit cramped.
Beast 16's are expensive, much more than I've ever paid for a running shoe before.
Beast 14's are on sale since Beast 16s have come out and are reasonably priced.
Fit & Feel:
Feet feel great in Beast 14s. Love this shoe, no complaints.
Beast 16s has lot more cushion and better arch support than Beast 14s.
Beast 16s feel really good, much, much better than Beast 14s in arch support, motion control, cushioning.
Beast 16s also feel better than Beast 14s in landing and transitions from heel to toe.
The Beast 16s feel so comfortable, like walking with pillows on your feet, but not too squishy...
I'd go as far to say, Beast 16s are much better shoe than Beast 14s " if " they " fit " perfectly and are " completely " comfortable to " your " feet.
I agree with Brooks statement that Beast 16s are "insanely comfortable" following exceptions:
Heels on both shoes doesn't feel as snug when walking. There's slight slippage ( moving up and down ) when walking.
Toe Box is lil cramped, especially right shoe.
Toes cramped. Seem to shorter length and smaller toe box
I'm trying to find good motion control and stability shoe with excellent cushion and room in the toe box.
For as long as I can remember I've always wore size 12 D in any shoe dress, atheletic, running, basketball.
I've been trying New Balances 990v4 and Brooks Beast 14 and 16.
Both New Balance 990 v4 ( 12.5 D ) and Beast 14 ( 12.5 D ) feels good in length, snug in heel and comfy in toe box.
I try Beast 16 12.5 D & 13 D and toes feel cramp in toe box and pushing against top of shoe because length of shoe seems shorter. I'm going to order a 13.5 D which is 1.5 size longer to sew if that makes a difference.
The Beast 16 heel box doesn't feel as snug as the Beast 14s. The Beast 14 and the New Balance 990 v4 seem to have a slightly higher lip that grabs the heel and holds it more snugly or it could be cushion which permits heels to sink more deeply into shoe in the heel area.
I'm going to order a Beast 16 13.5 D which is 1.5 larger than what I've always wore before and full size larger than the Beast 14 and New Balance 990 v4 I've been trying and testing ( walking 3 to 6 miles ) daily in.

Poor Fit, not worth the extra money, buy Beast 2014s instead
I have been buying Brooks Beasts for years, and have been very pleased with the fit and the feel. I use them for fitness training (3-4 times a week) and for running (a few miles a week), The 2014 fit very well, but seem to lose their cushioning in the heel - perhaps as a result of the fitness training exercises. So I thought I would try the 2016, even though they are more expensive. I bought size 12.5, which has been my correct size in the 2014 and earlier models, but the 2016 are too big in the toe box and too long. Then I bought size 12, and they are too tight in the length. So I am sending both pairs back and getting the 2014.
It seems Brooks changed the last and it is far different than the previous version, or perhaps there is a lack of control in the sizing chooices. In any event, after the 2014s are gone, I'll be looking for a different brand.

Brooks Beast 16 seems off...
I purchased this year's model Brooks Beast 16 as a replacement for my last BB pair and have been an owner and great fan of this model shoe for the last decade. Me: heavier walker/occasional runner, slight pronator requiring stability in a shoe; orthotics in shoe also worn. Have used Brooks Beast since 2006'.
In reading reviews, I knew the 16' was not as well taken as earlier models, but I couldn't find any earlier stock so I gave these a go.
In using these, they are made lighter it seems - and this equates to a cheaper "feel" from my perspective. I have wide feet and typically order the 4E widest model and they've fit like a glove in the past; true to length and width. Now, although the 16' feel fine in the midfoot, they're entirely loose in the toebox and I can't get them tightened to provide any cradling effect for the forefoot; length is still true. The large, swimmingly large toebox also contributes to a "cheap" feel this years model provides.
Finally - the color options scream "old" to me... disappointing, because I I'm kinda old and would enjoy some color aside from the shiny metallic appearing material that put me off (almost prompting me to immediately send them back).
The skinny - though they're cushioned, these don't have the feel of the Beast model line I've come to expect from Brooks. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish here, but as an end user I'm marginally disappointed at the outcome. Hope next year's model addresses some of the issues. Not worth the premium price I paid for them, not in comparison to the last three Beast models I've owned.
The Problem with Brooks Beast.....
When Brooks went from the Beast 10 to the Beast 12 stores were urged to tell their customers to go up 1/2 size. So with the Beast 12 I went to a size 12.5 Extra Wide (aka 4E) shoe. It fit fine. Luckily with the Beast 14 the fit/feel of the shoe didn't change, I was still a 12.5 Extra Wide. I loved the Beast 14 and was looking forward to the Beast 16. But Brooks went and did it again, making the shoe's fit/feel a guessing game. A 12.5 Extra Wide in the Beast 16 is simply too big and caused pain for me instantly. I shipped my Beast 16 back and decided to stay with the Beast 14. I understand the need to change a show cosmetically every few years and adding/removing technology that works better for the shoe, but the actual fit should remain the same. I have no idea what size the Beast 16 will be for me, others report the Beat 16 fits too big for them, some say too small for them. This shouldn't be a guessing game for the consumer as now we need to try and send back sizes we may not need or work out for us.
The Beast is on a 2-year cycle as are all Brooks shoes, so we won't see see a new Beast until September 2018 so the Beast 16 is it until then. Who knows how that shoe will feel when released, but I just wish Brooks would not make it so the consumer has to waste time trying multiple sizes in their quest to find the proper size. Customer service with Brooks is some of the best though.
Not the shoe it used to be
I don't know what they've done to this shoe but I think the quality is down and fit has gotten progressively worse since the '12 model. I have been buying Beasts since 2006 and this one has little cushioning and is very uncomfortable compared to previous models. I have loved Brooks shoes and customer service, but had to return these after just a few hours of wearing. They were killing my feet! I am trying the Adrenaline GTS 16 in hopes that it will be softer, as Brooks claims. If not, it is reluctantly back to NB 990V4s for me.
Favorite Beast so far
Amazing support and comfort without feeling clunky. Was surprised that the suede is even more comfortable than the regular version, since it doesn't have all the extra stitched panels. It also feels fairly cool, with lots of ventilation and a light-feeling material. It's my favorite Beast of all-time (I think I've been through at least five generations).

Have been running in Beasts for years, and very disappointed in this model. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sizing feels way off. And even worse, this model seems much less durable than the previous models - maybe because by making it lighter they've lessened the cushioning. Either way, after only several months of 25 miles/week, I'm already feeling the shoe break down and pain in the knees. Won't buy again - time to start shopping for a new go-to shoe.
I only have 150 easy miles on this shoe since September 2016 and the lugs on the sole of the shoe are worn off at the toe and the heel. I'm a light weight at 145#. I've owned at least 5 or more pair and this shoe has a tight fit and the runner soles are not durable. Very disappointed.
I have worn Beast since 2005. These are the best running shoe...until now. The sole is already breaking down and after 150 miles my heal is completely into the foam and no rubber at all. I am extremely disappointed and will now look to say goodbye to the beast and move onto another shoe. This is a sad day!
Best Shoe ever!
I've been a serious runner for 40 years and currently put it 100 miles per month. I just went over 100 miles in my Beast 16's and I couldn't be happier. In performance, comfort and looks, this is the best shoe I've ever owned!
Very good for heavier slower runners as myself.
I am an older (57) heavier walk/jogger. I have returned to the Beast after leaving them for a while. They are very supportive, however I do not find them to be as "cushy" as I would prefer.
That said, they are a good shoe for me. I use the RR inserts ( I recommend) that are molded to your foot ,"I had these molded at my RR store rather than doing it myself. Because the shoe is not very cushioned I left the insert that came with the shoe in with the added insert, this gives me more cushioning. The Beast is a beast in the weight department as well they are very heavy. This is not bad if you are a shuffler like me.
Brook's Beast has been my go to shoe for several years now however this last pair has not lived up to the standard I am used to. With every foot strike the right shoe makes a loud clap as if a board were attached to the bottom. While I have no doubt Brook's would have gladly exchanged these shoes due to my training schedule I couldn't afford not having them. I must say they are great in all other areas. Hey, at least I don't have to worry about scaring other runners as I creep up on them!
Just leave the fit alone.
Every time I find a great shoe this happens. A new model comes out and they make them tighter in the toes or narrow on the sides. Why cant companies leave the the overall fit alone. It makes no sense.
I bought 3 pairs. Only quibble is the 12 mm drop
I've bought three pairs of this shoe. My size is 16 4E and I have a very small selection of shoes that fit. This shoes works well for me. The 12 mm drop is a little high for me. My gait is low to the ground and uneven. I wear out the heel on the left shoe early because my heel scrapes sometimes on the return stroke. I'd be happy if this shoe had a 10 or 8 mm drop. But other than that quibble, I like the shoe.
Problem with Beast 16
I will not buy another pair of 16s. I've worn Beasts (size 9, D width) for approximately 20 years. Over the years, I could count on motion control, decent cushioning, consistent fit and comfort. I noticed a little change in fit on the 14. I find significant change on the 16. The increase in "roominess" in the ball area is too much, adversely impacting comfort and ability to move with agility/control.
Bulky blah blah
Bought for support/guidance. It provides that but nothing spectacular. Shoe is bulky and HOT, seems too small. Did I mention bulky .? Sending back
A previously excellent shoe that lost its way.
I have been running in Beast shoes for over 20 years. They have become lighter, sexier, more expensive and less functional. The motion control is still excellent but the cushioning of the original shoe is long gone. I think the Beast, has lost its way somewhere along its evolution. I don't plan to buy this shoe anymore. If you need cushioning, try the Hooka One series.
Ditch the street shoes and buy Brooks Beast
My husband was a runner for years and would only buy the Brooks Beast to help with his pronation issues. He is now 68 and no longer runs (now he only cycles), but he developed chronic heel pain wearing street shoes all the time. I convinced him to return to the Brooks Beast and after a couple of weeks walking in these shoes only, his heel pain has been relieved!
I would buy this Beast again!
I use this shoe for walking. I walk 5 to 6 miles per day, usually at something over 4 miles an hour. So far, this shoe has been just as comfortable as my previous Beast model. I like the motion control, since I have a tendency to over pronate. and I do enjoy the cushioning. I've been using them for about two weeks, and, so far, so good.
Wait for the next version
I run/ walk about 40 miles per week and I am a hefty guy, and 235 lbs. The stability part is great but overall fit is not good. 11s are a tad small but 11.5 is to wide in the ball area and my foot slides around.
Keeping these as my every kicks but moving on to a different brand for running.
Great improvement on a already good shoe.
Great improvement on a already good shoe. This is my third generation of Beasts and I like this one best. Sizing for me is correct but they do fit a bit more snug on the sides which may have meant an overall tighter fit for some. But I was a 10 on old Beasts and 10 with new.
Fits the Need
There are lighter shoes out and some that haveore cushioning but those shoes break down in half the time. As a heavy guy, 230+, and with flat feet and and very bad ankles from many sprains, this shoe fits the bill. I hope the Beast 18 will address the narrow the box.
One foot; One great shoe!
I am an amputee unable to wear a prosthesis at this time. I wear the Beast 16 on my right foot. It provides balance, comfort, and stability. Hope to be back in a prosthesis soon, but am glad to have the Beast!
Had to send back
Sent back because toe box was not wide enough, the 2E was just a little tight. The shoe look great wish it had fit.
Used Brooks shoes since 1978. Reliable shoes with great support.
My kind of shoes
As a big runner (6' 4", 200 lbs), these shoes are the only ones that I have found that work for me. Other shoes I've tried have broken down early and don't provide the support that my flat feet need.
They'd better not discontue this one
The best shoe I have found with great support for a big guy with ankle issues and the wide toe case perfect for 3 to 4 E foot. I wish they would make 4E in other colors than this one and Black
I will keep buying the Beast.
I am not a runner but am on my feet on concrete 8 to 10 hours a day. I have been wearing the beast at work for about 15 years and my feet never hurt. For this old man (65) they can't be beat.
Only use for running. Comfortable and much more supportive than my last two pairs of New Balance but I think some might find them a little stiff. Lightweight. Definitely order 1/2 size up.
