NARROW for the pinky toe, LONG for the rest of your foot.

This is a WP speedgoat, and I wouldn't use it at all if you plan to add your own insoles. I've tried every type of thin insole I can (the stock insoles are terrible) and there is no where near enough space for the last toe. Beware that your shoes don't start out with a lot of listing on one side- my right shoe leans outboard visibly. This is probably bad QAQC, but I have to say that I also had issues with my Clayton's wearing out at 200 of the expected 400-mile wear life.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Speed 2 Mid WP Hiking Shoe:

Bought the shoes for trail running in Eastern singletrack. Wanted something waterproof with good traction, and to fit my narrow feet to complement my awesome Speedgoats. The 3/4 height feels like it affords a small amount of ankle support on the muddy roots and reduces collected debris inside shoe. Would give them 5 stars if they had the 7mm greater cushioning of the Speedgoats, but I realize they were designed for hiking, not running. Would buy again...unless Hoka comes out with a waterproof Speedgoat.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Speed 2 Mid WP Hiking Shoe:

perfect except for one huge problem. there is too much of an arch in its construction, so i can't wear my orthotic -- it causes way too much pronation, rolls my foot over way too much. so i can't wear the shoe and have to return it. very disappointing

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Speed 2 Mid WP Hiking Shoe:

I've ran two trail races in these shoes. The first race was 1/2 marathon and I could not have been happier with the comfort. The second race was 27 miles with all terrain types, I was fine the first 14 miles. The latter part of the race, the laces loosened (I adjusted them at 13 miles) my toes jammed in the toe box and bruised. For me this is a hazard of trail racing and not the product. By far the most comfortable trail shoe I've used.

Comments about Mens Hoka One One Tor Speed 2 Mid WP Hiking Shoe:

Loved the mid height concept. Avid hiker and like to hike very fast if I'm alone. New England is home so extreme conditions with endless rocks, roots, mud.
I would most likely buy this shoe if it wasn't so narrow in the toe box. I do not have wide feet either. Widen the toe box Hoka and you've got a great lightweight hiker/through hiker, ultra shoe that you can actually run in also.
Fit was otherwise good and to my pleasure pronation control was just fine with stock footbed. I use a drop in SOLE footbed on many of my shoes but the Hoka was fine....and the fit was so snug overall a footbed might not have fit.
Mid height just works awesome for additional support and traction was phenomenal with the Mega Grip. For me this is crucial and ruled out the new Altra Lone Peak 3 Mid which I otherwise liked in back to back tests on a 28 mile day hike. Altra blew it by not using Mega Grip on that new shoe. Cushioning and impact protection also felt better on the Hoka despite about = sole thickness.
Hoka needs to open up the toe box on these before I can consider owning them so back they go. To bad maybe next version update.
