Tue, December 30,2008:
Superb cushioning (one of the softest shoe I have tried) and sufficient stability for mild pronation. Heel is a bit narrow. Otherwise a good shoe for long runs.

Have had two pairs in rotation with another pair usually supernova chushion 7. Pros: got about 400 miles out of them, forefoot chushioning, Cons: gave me a blister on my big toe, heavy

i have to agree with rodrunner. changed from supernovas to these shoes and then the heel problems started. the only thing i changed in my routine are the shoes.

Been in the adiStar Cushion for yrs, always new models, always 1 sized up. The 'Cushion' has gotten me thru many marathons and training miles. Stocking up on the 6s. No complaints here. A 175 lb bow-legged plodder.

Just an update to review below. Been running in 6s for a year now. Ran in 5s before. Still like the 5 better. Cherish my last pair. Guys, these are definitely for larger runners. David in MO is SO RIGHT! My Med. Coll. Ligament gets sore when I run in these exclusively. Have to go back to 5s or another shoe until pain goes away. Damn heel slit! Also, I wear 15s. This is the only shoe that is a snug 15 length- and width-wise. Soft but not mushy like Vomeros. Now if RRS would only sell 15s I'd be in business.

This shoe is so so. I agree with others that it's much better than the Supernova 7, as the adistar has better construction, is lighter, and fits nicer through the forefoot and midfoot with a superior sockliner. It fits and rides better than the Cumulus and softer than the Nimbus. Better than the Wave Rider 10 and 11 which Mizuno ruined with its hideous fat foot shoe last. The adistar doesn't seem to me that baggy as others have stated and I have a narrow foot with a high arch. It's acceptable for its intended purpose as a high mileage long run trainer. It's not meant for intervals, strides, or racing. Not bad, not good, but an Average Joe.

Hmmm... ya'll must be Adidas / Mizuno only runners. It doesn't have the snug heel characteristic of those manufacturers, but it's far from sloppy. I find the construction to be top quality and of superior materials than the Supernova. It is a boat of a shoe, but I got it for pounding out long miles on the road at night - it's perfect for that.

I don't know what people are talking about. This shoe fits huge, not small. Cushioning is pillowy soft and not responsive, with a ride height like the Eiffel Tower. The blue trim looks cheap and the shoe is poorly constructed when compared to the less expensive Supernova 7's. The adistar shoe is definately designed for larger runners. Lighter runners with normal to thin feet should look elsewhere. Nonetheless, despite these shortcomings, the adistar cushion still rides much better than the horrific Wave Rider 10. Now the Rider is a shoe that has truly changed for the worse due to the poor fit.

The jury is still out on this shoe. I have been running in Supernovas for two pairs' worth. They have been excellent in assisting my recovery from a beastly year long bout with plantar fascitis. I was nearly over it, then I bought these shoes last week. I have run in them twice (5-6 miles each time),and now my heel is hurting again. They are the only variable in my training so they have to be the culprit. My suspicion lies in the way the heel is split compared to the Supernovas as well as the way my heel sits in the shoes. Has anyone else had issues with their heels with this shoe? I noticed David from Missouri thought it was screwing up his knees. Perhaps there is a small segment of the running population who have biomechanical issues that are only exacerbated by the design on the Cushion 6's.

Based on the cavernous forefoot and super wide heel pocket, this shoe appears to be designed for the heavier or larger runner. Despite the shoe being labelled a D or medium width, this shoe fit like a 4E and was sloppy and loose. The shoe was also far too soft with too much cushioning and ride height, leading to what felt to be a slow transition. The Supernova 7 fits narrower but has less cushion. If only the Wave Rider 11 had a tad more cushioning, I'd have found my perfect shoe for ultra-marathon training.

First time adidas wearer. This shoe seems to fit 1/2 size too small. I wear 8.5 in the Wave Rider and 8.5 in the Nimbus, but I need to wear 9.0 in the adiSTAR. Have others experienced a really tight fit with the adiSTAR requiring an upsize to a 1/2 larger size?

Tue, March 04,2008:
Just an update...still love the shoe overall, however, on my longer runs of 12+ miles, my foot gets a bit "crowded". I would suggest going with one full size up vice 1/2 as RRS recommends.

6' 175. High arches, bad knee, narrow feet. 20 miles per week. Running for 25 years. I considered the red, white and blue version of adidas' stability+ shoe the best shoe I have ever run in. So when an rrs rep reccomended I switch to a neutral shoe, I gave this one a try. I have been verry disappointed with the cushoining and the shoe is wider than what I am used to. When I try to lace it tight it digs painfully into my ankle forcing me to run with the heel loose. I hate to leave Adidas but this shoe is not working for me.

Me: 6'4, 195...25-30 miles per week, 2-3 marathons, 2-3 1/2's per year. I've finally found my shoe! Tried just about every neutral+ shoe on the market and this is the best feel and fit of them all. Ordering 2 more pairs today for the future! Great shoe!

I don't normally wear full cushioned shoes as I tend to run a bit faster or do my long runs on the trail. Anyway I've been wearing these for the last 2 months and think they're pretty good, very smooth and comfortable, and fit my wide foot well. The forefoot seems to be much more responsive than nike and asics as when I pick up the pace they feel pretty fast . adidas seem to have made a massive improvement as they're shoes were pretty crap a few years ago. Funf stars for the krauts.

Wed, November 28,2007:
Used both the 5 and 6 versions. The split heel on the 6 version causes minor twisting of the lower leg upon heel impact. This twisting has caused the ligaments in my knees to become stretched and so sore that I have missed several days of running. I weight 165 pounds, so for someone lighter this may not be a problem. IMO, the 5 version was better.

Real comfortable shoes right out of the box. I run about 40-50 mpw and these shoes have the cushion to keep up. They are really light and give a good road "feel" for tempo runs and speed workouts. I have run in the previous models and these definitely feel more cushiony w/ more flex to them as well without losing support. Fits good to my foot (medium width, med to high arch).

Another average shoe- but at an above average price. Heel cushion is good, forefoot so-so. Heels fit a little loose, toe box is narrow, laces are too short. Overall quite a disappointing fit compared to the megabounce. Seemless upper doesn't feel seemless. Returned and on to try another shoe.

Fri, October 19,2007:
These shoes are great shoes for someone looking for a cushioned trainer and racer. Very comfortable, but I have a wide foot and the shoes are a little too narrow through the forefoot for me. I recently ran the run leg of a HIM and the shoes really hurt in that area. Other than that they are great shoes.

Pretty good running shoe. I have run in two versions of Asics Gel & New Balance running shoes in the past. I am only a casual runner, 15 miles per week. This shoe is firmer than the others, but still has plenty of cushion. The tongue is a little bulky on this one and the breathability is lower than Asics shoes in my opinion. My old Asics wore out and I started getting shin splints... but that was after 500 miles or so (mostly treadmill.) No shin splints since I bought these. Hope this helps.

6'4, 220, size 15, & wear orthotics. IMO, there was more cushion in the previous model. Maybe there is just as much, but it feels firmer to me. The adistar 6 is a step down from the 5, but it is still a good shoe. I will, however, be stocking up on the adistar 5 now wherever I can find them. (See previous review for adistar 5.)

I have only run in these shoes about 6x so far, and these shoes were cushiony right out of the box and very comfortable; there is no breaking in period. I had been running in the Brooks Glycerin and the Mizuno Wave Rider prior to purchasing the Adistar Cushion #6, and I would rate the Adistar as over both of these. I am 45 yrs olds , 5’8” and 155lbs. I run about 8 miles a clip, 3x per week. I would recommend these if you are looking for a good cushion shoe.
