I know the tongue is a little short and that annoyed a lot of people, but I love how this shoe rides. They are not too soft but you can run comfortably on the road. They work for me, I'll be buying the adiSTAR ride 2 in the next few months for sure.

I'm 5'9", 150lbs high-mileage runner. I have put in about 250mi on these, and overall I like them: plenty of cushion, especially in mid-foot. One complaint -- there is a deep, wide tread at the heel, and I am always getting pebbles and gravel stuck in it. So, it's not suitable for any sort of a trail or a gravel path.

I have found these shoes to be the best running shoes I have tried to date. I noticed that the opinions are all over the board for this model. The one trend that seems to be clear is that the skinny-minis are rating these shoes the lowest while the taller more muscled runners, 205 lbs and up seem to love these shoes. I'm 6'1" and 240 lbs with a moderate to high arch, and find that shoe provides great shock absorption in the heel and can feel the energy return in the fore-foot.

Also, had problems with back digging into achilles. The interior lining around the ankles wore out within one month. Other than that area, the rest of the shoe is comfortable. But overall short life and ankle build is a deal killer. Maybe next version will get this fixed.

I have good luck with this shoe. It is a bit narrow though to get broken in for a wide foot, and the sole seems to wear quicker than most. I do like the heel movemnt though.

The side of the upper on this shoe blew out on both sides after 150 miles. I'm 6-0, 175 lbs. and have a fairly wide forefoot, neutral runner. I've never had this problem with any other show, Adidas or otherwise. The shoe sucks and is now in a landfill.

I am 6' 180lbs with a normal arch and run about 20 miles per week. I have used Nimbus and 1062 and was only getting about 250 miles max out of either pair and no matter what I got blisters on my heals. I am getting over 300 out of the Ride and they still feel awesome. Really like the fit and feel of the shoe. Super shoe at the sale price I will stock up.

These shoes suck basically.Very poor design.I've used Adidas trainers for past several years and have been satisfied until now.Within 3 weeks they felt like old shoes.Very flat as far as cushioning. They felt almost like racing flats but they weigh substantially more. The fit was fine,to add a positive note.I'm not a pro but decent master's guy 17:52 5k and 1:21 half marathon 2008.I would steer clear of these.

Was totally in love with this shoe until my arch-enemy PF took my right foot out. Disappointing because I started hoarding this shoe just when PF was sneaking up. I am still tempted to run one of these on my left foot and clunk along with stability shoe on sore right. Does this make sense to anybody?

Great fit for the first use. Then I had blisters and pulled calf muscles after the next 3 uses...

After wearing adistar cushion happily for 6 for 3 year, the ride disappoints. The redesign at the ankle gave me blisters and the lining is ripping after two months of 30-40 miles per week. I can usually get a year out of Adidas shoes.

awful shoe, stiff as a board. adidas needs to stick with soccer, and leave the running industry.

okay here's the thing, i don't know if this was any different than the mens shoe but the women's shoe was REALLY bad. The first pair i bought were fine... untill the treads started to come off a few months after the purchase.... so me and my family got a knew pair, the manufacturer said i must've been using them for basketball but i took like six classes in P.E. and i never wore them for anything but daily P.E. (on weekdays) so i got my new pair and not even two months later the same problem. The treads came off so i am now waiting for the adidas company to write me back... these shoes are just TERRIBLE.

Over three years running in Adistars and these are not near the shoe of their previous models. They feel heavier and stiffer. The cushioning is not as good nor is the fit.

Have run in Adistars for the last couple years and have been very impressed. This shoe is no exception. Either Adidas fit you or they don't, so be sure to try them out a bit before forming an opinion. For me, I can't wear Asics no matter how much others rave about them. This shoe is great for me - 6'3", 185#.

Mon, May 04,2009:
The Ride is a decent shoe for long runs. I ran 10 miles out of the box with no issues. The fit is roomy but not sloppy wide like the Supernova Cushions. Actually, quite a cushy shoe, not overly heavy. Qualified for Boston on these, 3:08, and even ran a 39 minute 10k. But yes, it's true the Rides wear out *very* fast, even for this 132 pound runner, midfoot striker. These shoes were completely shot after about 300-350 miles of pavement running. And the tread pattern sucks on the wet, so use caution in the rain.

worst shoes i've ever run in. 6' 175 run 20-30 miles per week. previously ran in asic nimbus and these were recommended by an expert. horrible shoe. hard, stiff and not durable at all. will never purchase another adidas running shoe. stay away!!!

Tue, April 28,2009:
Very impressed. As a forefoot striker which transitioned to a midfoot strike, this shoe worked great. I just came off the NB800 midfoot strike shoe with beat up metatarsals and found this shoe to be a huge relief. The heel verses toe ramp angle really suits a mid foot strike. I have high arches and find the cushioning to be very good. From a mid foot strike prospective, it is quick and smooth. Easy to accelerate and maintain tempo. Newtons will tear your achilles, Saucony Has too much heel, NB is selling a very cut down shoe with limited padding [ but has a perfect midstrike ramp angle]. Asics are heavy and impede the recover phase of your gait. Asics have too much ramp angle for a quality midfoot strike. Adidas has pretty much hit the nail on the head for a pretty midfoot strike shoe. I would defiantly buy another pair. If this shoe is causing chaffing as per previous reviews, you are probably in the wrong size or not lacing correctly.

I like the fit of this shoe, but I have a problem with the tongues being too short for me to lace up fully. Since the tongues are uneven and appear to be a centimeter or so too short, it appears to be a defect. Yeah, I should have returned them, but I'm enjoying the shoes now.

I'm 6'1", 195 lbs and run 45-55 miles per week.. The adistar cushion was a great shoe for me. However, I experienced problems similar to those of other reviewers here with the Adistar Ride in that the shoe was digging into my achilles and giving me more than a blister but a cut that I had to bandage for a couple of weeks on two separate occasions. They're "broken in" now but it's already time for me to buy new shoes and I wish Addidas offered a neutral plus alternative to this one. I guess I'll go down-market and buy the supernova. This industry has got to be the most frustrating of any I can think of for consumers who show they like a product and then it's taken away to be replaced with an inferior one just to maintain margins by pricing it as a "new" shoe. It's happened with every brand I've tried as I've been forced to hop from one to the next each time they eliminated my favorite shoe.

I really loved adistar cushion 6 (perfect and better for me than kayanos)but this time i am i 'm not sure after 3 runs: pain in left achille and mid foot blister ( maybe the inside band cuts..)and a little less cushion than with cushion 6 I am 6 foot , 170, neutral & do marathons & semis .... if it does not improved in next runs i' ll switch to kayano 15 or old adistar cushion 6 if i find them.

pain in my achilles after a about 6 runs (30-35 miles). I think it may be due to the stiffness, and/or the insert, which I added, for arch support (which pushed my heel up too high(?)).

Mon, January 12,2009:
The shoes could be the some of the worst ever purchased for performance running. They aren't flexible actually bulky for the most part, almost like cinder blocks. I tried them out even with other reviewers' given them poor reviews, definately should have listened this time around. The shoes aren't horrible but they arent specialty running shoes. I would expect to pick up a shoe this generic at the mall but by no stretch of the imagination are these shoes for a serious running.

Solid replacement for the adistar cushion 6, I'm 210 and have high arches....After the break in period they feel perfect. I did notice the complaint about the ankle portion of the shoe, but once I started running it was never an issue. The adidas always feel stiff when you try them on, once you break them in nothing beats them.

I have been running in these shoes for over 4 months and I love these shoes. The shoes do not provide a lot of support, but that is what I need. More of a natural feel. Previous shoes (Supernova Cushion) caused too much stress on my knees.

OVERRATED Adidas had a good shoe with the Adistar Cushion 5. The 6 was bad and this shoe is worse. Not enough cushion for the boxy feel.I have not returned many shoes, but these went back to RRS

I was very pleased with the previous model but encountered similar problems with it cutting into the achilles area above the heal. I was hoping to replace the cushion 6 which was a great shoe for me. The Ride seems to have caused some IT band issues which I have never previously had. Could be a great shoe for some, but not for me.

Mon, November 24,2008:
Way over-rated shoe. Nice heel and forefoot cushion, smaller than expected toe box, poor feel around the foot, and (worst of all) the back of the shoes actually cut into my skin around the tendon. Ran on them 40 miles for one week and returned them to RRS. I'm 5'11', 175, run 40-50 miles per week. I like Asics Gel Nimbus 10, and have ordered Mizuno Wave Rider 12 to try out. We'll see.

Big guy (6'4", 230, high arches, orthotics). Loved the Adistar Cushion 5 and the 6 less so. Was worried when I saw the split heel that the shoes would bother my MCL like the Adi. Cush. 6, but so far it's ok. Maybe more cushioned than the Adi. Cush. 6? Definitely feels more cushioned than the new Asics Nimbus 10. Been alternating between the Ride and the Nimbus. The Ride is very cushioned, but not mushy like the 1st Vomero (has that changed at all?). Nimbus 10 feels flat to me after running in the Ride.

Sun, November 02,2008:
As the replacement for the adiSTAR Cushion 6, the Ride fits similar with a tad softer, cushier feel on the road. The toebox feels a bit wider than its predecessor, probably due to the new forefoot retention overlays (the 6 skinny bands on each side of the midfoot). I use this shoe for my p.m. training runs, long runs, and recovery runs. In the a.m. on the track and for tempos up to 12 miles, I use the adizero CS which is a superb shoe but wears out very fast. The Ride is a high mileage trainer and suits this purpose adequately. Seems to hold up to wear fairly well. Got 280 miles right now on the Ride and the shoe looks great, but feels a bit flat. Overall, well above average shoe, 3.5/5 rating in my opinion.

I have nothing but good things to say about this shoe. I went for a 10 miler out of the box and no problems. Good cushioning without feeling too soft or squishy. Smooth transition, I feel the biomechanics are efficient. The upper is sock like and hugs your feet, the heel collar is very padded and provides a secure fit. The lacing system works well. Adidas is doing a commendable job with their running shoes, choosing function over gimmicks unlike some other companies. Used to run mostly in Nikes.
