Supernova Sequence 2 - supercushy

I've had meniscus and ACL injuries in both knees, so I've been looking for a shoe to provide great cushioning (and light weight) for long runs, and I've (almost) found it. I took a chance on the 'stability' platform as I push off of fairly flat on the front of my feet (and currently around 185-190 lbs.) - the Sequence 2 does not quite allow this - it wants to roll your foot outward - even the rear profile of the shoes seemingly leans to the outside. I also wear doctors grade orthotics - and this helped the feel and stability A LOT. The insert that came with the shoe was thick/cushy - which for some might be great, but for me I needed the added support and slight rigidity to round out the thick sole and perceived outward roll. The weight of the shoe is good - a good middle distance trainer, or 1/2 marathon distance. I feel it's a bit too heavy for longer runs or fast marathons - but decent for the middle to back of the pack marathoners. I'd recommend this to some runners, in some circumstances - yes to big runners, middle of the pack, and yes with orthotics. No to faster, leaner, short distance or very long distance runners.

I'll Never Stray Again

I've worn various Adidas Supernovas and adiStars for years. I have a narrow foot and they've always provided the feel I prefer. I found an Asics at a local running store that initially felt good. However, as I wore them I felt my foot swimming in the shoe. I found these Adidas on sale, bought the hell out of 'em and haven't looked back. Lighweight, not gaudy, excellent fit for the narrow-of-foot, and my past experience is they'll likely push the 5-6 month mark even though I workout 6 days a week. I was wrong to stray. I will repent and my fidelity will never be taxed again.

Very surprised !!!

I am 5.6", 130 pounds, daily runner. I get metatarsalgia. Ive never bought Adidas shoes. I always used Asics,Mizuno and Saucony. In this order. The first 6 miles on pavement was very comfortable. Easy run. The next 8 miles included warm up, sprints and cool down was nice.No pain. The long run on pavement, 20 miles very surprised. Good support.Good cushion, could be better on the heel. You can feel this shoes very ligth even the last miles.

solid stability

4

Good stability, solid feel. Cushions well. Went to this shoe after feeling foot pain after long runs with really lightweight shoes. Feels a little heavy, but that might just be the contrast. The forefoot is much wider than other adidias runners, feels sloppy with my narrow foot. The lacing across the arch however allows you to snug the foot down. It only feels big in the toes.

Fast shoe for the long run

5

I love the reinforcing strip on the medial aspect of the outer sole. This shoe glides off the road. I use green superfeet inserts which really prevents my plantar fasciitis. I run 70-80 miles per week in marathon training. This shoe is great for the long run but I also really like it for tempos and I PR'd in a Half-marathon using this shoe.

Great shoe!

I have run in Adidas Supernovas since the good ole "control" days. I had a pair of Supernova Sequences, they were great as well. This is my first pair of Sequence 2's, and so far they are great.

It's my 3rd pair I had supernova Control, supernova sequence and now supernova sequence 2. I prefer them instead my adsitar salvation. I wear them for long run, 1/2 marathon race and even tempo run.

Excellent Running Shoe. Great for long runs, and marathon. Use this shoe for all my races. New Supernova 3 will be out in June-July, and hope they don't make any changes.

Not just for the elite

5

A great shoe with excellent medial support. Excellent for long slow runs as well as interval and tempo workouts. I ran a PR in a Half Marathon in this shoe. Prevented my plantar fasciitis from returning.

I am a once a year marathon runner. I love when I find a new brand of running shoe that ends up being my marathon shoe for the year. This shoe keeps my legs and knees feeling great. Excellent fit.

Solid stability shoe

6 feet 200 lbs run about 25-30 miles per week, great heel cushion on impact, some mild forefoot pain during a few runs but nothing after, overall very happy with the shoe

These are great shoes but ...

5

These are great shoes but they do have a lot of stability. There is a good deal of stability in the rear of the shoe toward the heel, so if you are a fairly neutral runner to slight overpronator using a stability shoe these may cause you an issue. After about 50 miles I developed some tendonitis soreness on the outside of my foot/ankle. I run about 65 miles/week, and have had no similar issue in similar class stabilty shoes (DS Trainers, 2140s, Structure Triax, etc.). These shoes trend more toward the motion control category.

This shoe is a great update. I didn't like the sequence because the heel felt too short. I'm 5'9" 171 lbs. medium arch and pronate. This shoe was perfect right out of the box. I have put 60 miles on them so far and they feel great.

Solid shoe. Cushioning is firm but sufficient. A hair less stable than I prefer, but works well with Superfeet. A slightly narrow fit, which I like. If you like the Structure Triax, you might like the Sequence 2.
