One thing about Adidas shoes: they last, unlike some other shoes that are built for planned obsolescence with shoddy materials. I'm thinking of the insanely popular ASICS Gel Moro trail shoes of the mid-1990s. The problem for ASICS: they were outrageously durable (I wore one pair for 1700 miles and they still felt great.) I respect Adidas for making shoes that don't fall apart. I have a pair of Adizero Tempos that I can still wear comfortably after about four years.

I have been a shoe geek since the 1980's, with that said...

These are one of the best pairs of running shoes I have ever had! Good execution, nice attention to detail, high quality materials, fantastic mid-sole and high quality laces (even thought the lace colors kill me). I already bought a second pair.

This shoe replaced my 993's, a model I have worn for 5years+, New Balance recently got cheap with the footbeds, so bye bye New Balance....

Better shoe for less, who doesn't love that!

The shoes are great so far. They are very comfortable and have great support and stability for the over-pronator that I am. I have been using them in the gym and running both on the street and on gravel (I am deployed right now).

The downside is the color pallette. I ordered black/red. The red looks more like a very hot pink, but hey they are still great shoes.

I'm a heavier runner (not in distance :) ) and I tend to run on the outside of my feet too. I found the Supernova Sequence series a few years back and ran 2 marathons and countless 5-10ks. I was very disappointed with the previous series of Sequence I found them uncomfortable and brought back a lot of pain and injuries I have from other sports. I think Adidas was trying to combine the cushioning with the minimalist movement and just didn't get it right.

Luckily the 7 series has brought back the cushioning and bounce I need with some great improvements in ventilation and weight!! I've done a few short runs and a 5k in them and I am very pleased! I would recommend these for runners who like me aren't exactly gazelle like in running stride and need some extra padding.

The shoe was comfortable and didn't need to be broken in. It is light, stable, and provides enough cushioning. My toes don't bang against the toe box as they tend to do with Kayano 20 and 21. Very comfortable on runs I've done up to 14 miles. Will test them for longer distances. I'll get another pair. Very nice shoe.

INITIAL FEELINGS

My immediate thoughts on the Adidas Supernova Sequence Boost were that they look surprisingly chunky on the medial side. The Sequence series has always in my opinion looked sleek and refined, whereas the new Stableframe, and contrasting colors make the midsole look pretty chunky. However, there is a reason for this, and Adidas will be wanting to highlight their newest technologies. The Stableframe also actually rises up above where your foot sits, meaning that your foot is held in a bed of EVA offering excellent support. Putting them on, and you get the now familiar soft feeling of Boost, and this is a big step in the right direction for the series, and Adidas as a whole. The rest of the shoe, and the lateral side looks good. Add a half size to your regular running shoes should be sufficient.

MIDSOLE The Supernova Sequence has had an entire overhaul, and is pretty much a new shoe. The midsole is obviously where the biggest changes have taken place, and gone is the Pro-moderator bar that will be familiar with recent users of the series. Gone is the Adiprene+ midsole and gone is the Formotion unit in the heel. The midsole has been replaced with a combination of Boost and EVA (55% EVA 45% Boost, only 5% less boost than the Supernova Glide Boost). The Stableframe is the new over-pronation prevention mechanism, and works in a similar way to a dual density midsole. The EVA is denser and stops your foot from rolling. However, the Stableframe also rises up above your foot, and holds your foot in a cradle offering superb support. The Torsion system however remains and extends onto the medial side of the heel to offer even more support, almost holding the Boost material in a cage to stop it expanding laterally that way. There is also an extension of the EVA right to the toe to help prevent late stage over-pronation and guide your foot through a smooth gait cycle.

UPPER The upper has changed slightly and offers an engineered mesh, with welded on overlays. The interior of the shoe uses a sock like liner, and the tongue is attached to make the shoes feel like slippers. The heel unit is surprisingly soft and flexible, unlike most support shoes where the heel counter feels stiff and is physically hard. The heel on the Supernova Sequence Boost is almost like an Inov-8 F-Lite 195 which was a big surprise, and feels very good.

OUTSOLE The outsole is where the fewest changes have taken place, and still uses the highly grippy and durable Continental rubber to stick you to the road in any weather. This is a partnership that Adidas have made full use of, and I'm surprised no other brands have tried something similar. 50 MILES IN... The Adidas Supernova Sequence Boost offers incredible support for a shoe that feels so effortless to run in. It gives support and cushioning in heaps, and it is amazing that the primary difference between this and the Supernova Glide Boost is only 5% Boost material.

I give these a 10 out of 10

High: Comfortable, bouncy traditional high-drop stability control running shoe. Upper is super nice.

Low: Could be a little lighter.

The SNS7 felt great right out of the box. The first run was 8 miles and have put 21 miles on them since including another 8 miler. They feel great on the road and the Boost component really makes a difference. A good improvement over the SNS6.
