A great training shoe. As an Ironman athlete who recently suffered a knee injury, I had to cut back on my training volume until I tried this shoe. Great cushioning and support -- a good training shoe for the high mileage runner.

After having much success with the VI, I thought the VIIs would be just as good. They seem heavier on my feet but they are still much better than the Asics 2100s.

Shoe provides great support for me (6'3", 210 lbs.). However I agree that the size in the Nimbus VII runs big. Go down a 1/2 size when ordering. This shoe runs bigger than the Nimbus VI.

I had previously run in the Asics Nimbus VI, which fit me very well. I got the VII's a few weeks ago and am sending them back - I had an 8.5 in the VI's, and that same size was too big in the VII's. The VII's also rubbed my little toe on my right foot only (defective shoe or design problem - I don't know). I did love the mesh toe box, though! I'm 5'6", 130lbs, have very high arches and run about 20 miles per week. I'm hoping the VIII's will fit me better and run truer to size.

Tue, May 23,2006:
Many people have complained about the fit of this shoe and heel pain and/or blistering. All I can say is that I've had no problems whatsoever. I think the key is sizing down a 1/2 size from what you normally wear. I usually run in 12 1/2 but had to get a 12 in these for the fit to be right. Also, shell out the $$$ for the Nimbus socks...they are so badass and I can't see how anyone would blister in them. Anyway, the cushioning of these shoes is SUPERB. In the past, I've had a lot of issues with shin splints and very sore calves. I've felt none of this with the Nimbus VII's. In addition, I feel a lot less sore overall with them the next day. Size down a 1/2 size and enjoy the ride on air.

I've been running for 23 years, and this is the first shoe I've owned that felt perfect from right out of the box. Snug in the heal, but roomy in the toe box, super cushioning. Great for those who do lots of running on the road.

I'm very sorry to report that these shoes gave me blisters under my large toe knuckles (ball of the foot). I've never blistered before (been running for >25 years) and am very disappointed that the Nimbus VII didn't work for me, but I think it must be the larger toebox. I've been buying shoes with maximum cushion to help with shin splints and knee problems (44 yrs old and 15-20 miles/week). I have, and love, the Nimbus VI and will try to find another pair on ebay. I probably put 40-50 miles on the Nimbus VIIs and finally swapped them away to a girlfriend. I hope they work for her. Bummer!!

Awesome shoes...buying my 5th or 6th pair...wide toebox with mesh all across the top relieved a big-toe hotspot with other shoes. Will run 3rd marathon later this month with these! Nervous though that Asics' website talks about the GEL Nimbus VIII coming out in Fall '06...I hate it when companies "update" a pair I finally find and love. We'll see!

I've worn Nimbus for years and have been quite satisfied until I purchased my first pair of VIIs. I bought the same size as I always had but now the toebox is wider and the shoe is a bit longer than previous years' models (buying mail order can be a risk). Going down a half size from what I used to wear has seemed to help remedy those issues. With that, it's still my overall favorite cushioned shoe.

Got these a month ago after I started getting knee trouble with the N 992. These are great, very flexible in the toe. Cushioning is great; they can really take a beating. I.m 5'9 185 pounds with mid arches. When running my foot dose not move around inside at all, very secure. I have not gotten any blisters yet and I don.t expect I will. I would definitely buy again.

Not since 1998 have I been able to find a shoe I loved so much (the old Reebok DMX 10 pods!) I bought these shoes Wed. and raced in them out of the box for a Turkey Trot the next day and had my bext time in a 5K since running again. When those wore down I bought an identical pair (after a terrible bout with the Kinsei's--NO NO NO!) and again, stright out of the box and into a 10K, on a lot of concrete. That was a hard one--everything hurt--EXCEPT my feet.

I've ran and walked in Kayano's for years before moving on to the new Nimbus VII. I'm a heavy person at 230 lbs. and find that I'm having problems with soreness on the balls of my feet after walking 3 to 4 miles. Great fit with plenty of custion in the heals. Going back to Kayanos!

I love these shoes. I usally require a wide (4E) shoe, but these just mold to my feet and feel great. The cushioning makes it feel like you are running on air. I can't say enough good things about these shoes.

I have been running in Nimbus shoes for the past four years until these replaced the VIs. Cushion is overbearing and makes the shoe feel loose and the fit (toebox) is now too wide for my liking.

I just purchased the Nimbus after reading that they were best for my foot type. I took a chance and I can say I am absolutely thrilled that I bought these. I just finished a race in them and my normally stiff knees are feeling fine. I think the gel cushioning is superb. I was initally concerned with the width of the toe box but it was no problem at all. The only thing I will say is that these are NOT cold weather running shoes...the upper is mesh.

Tue, March 07,2006:
Shoes look good but they wear terrible. I got blisters on my heel. The fabric is so rough at the heels. I have never gotten blisters with any running shoes before. Also, the gel in the right shoe was not in the correct place and it hit me under my toes. What pain I had. Sending shoes back.

Mon, February 27,2006:
So Far so good with these shoes. I do wear the extra RRS gel inserts with them and it seems to do the trick. I am a female, 155+ pounds and have a high arch. I also have a neutral gait(no under/over pronation.) These are the only shoes that don't make my feet fall asleep across the top of my foot. These shoes are roomy in the toe box, and snug but not too tight in the midfoot. I run 6-15 miles a week and have been running in these since January. I have tried Mizuno, Creation 6, Nirvana and the Aisics Gel GTS-2090. I have also tried the Adidas Supernova Control. I like these the best so far. The cushioning is terrific. I have no pain during or after my runs. I also had trouble with a stress fracture in my medial maleolis but these shoes have not given me any problems with that. I'm not sure it's the actual shoe or the insoles but don't really care. They're working for me.

As a 6'5'', 230lb cancer surviving US Marine, these are the best shoes I've found. I did a marathon in them last month and the only part of my body that didn't hurt was my feet. The cushioning and stability is perfect for us clydsdale-types.

Mon, February 13,2006:
These are so much better, technically, than the Nimbus 6! The structure and cushioning makes my feet feel centered, unlike the 6, and the fit is exactly what I need; more narrow at the heels and wider at the toes. It took me a long time to try the Nimbus again, so I hope that when the 8 comes out, the design is similar to this one.

Have been a New Balance runner for over 25 years. This is my first pair of Asics and I am very well pleased. A little heavy, but very comfortable from the first run. I have raced in them and I guess the comfort trumps the weight since I ran my best 10K ever. 6'3", 165 lb, 30 mpw. Great shoe.

This shoe works great for me. I tried sever models and brands after they stopped making my favorite shoe. This replacement ended up an improvement. I have trined an average of 25 to 30 miles a week for the last 5 months with several half marathons in the same shoe. Its still going strong. Very durable.

6'1", 185lbs, 25-30 miles/week, 8-min. pace. I have been wearing the Nimbus for over 3 years - going through 3 to 4 pairs/year. The new VII does seem to have more cushion but I have not had any of the negative effects other reviewers have complained of. Although the heel cup seems stiffer, the fit and feel are still good. I do wear orthodics so any lack of support would not impact me. My only complaint on this shoe is the price - but since I got them on sale and used a $10-off coupon, I got them for $90 which seems much more reasonable than $115 to $120. The mesh certainly works well because my feet get cold on winter runs!

Thu, January 26,2006:
These shoes fit like they were custom-made for my feet. A smooth cushioned ride that works well in alternation with Mizuno Wave Rider 8s. Not sure the Nimbus can hold up for long runs (10 miles or more) but they are great for shorter runs and speedwork.

Third pair of Nimbus shoes I have had. Before this I wore the Asics Landreth (2 pair)but found them a little lacking in cushioning. The Nimbus VII is perfect for me. No blistering, cushioning where I need it. If you don't need motion control and supinate this shoe has been great.

These are excellent shoes. I have run 2 marathons, 1/2 marathons, and hundreds of miles in them and they are excellent. I use the lace loop lock system and have never had a blister anywhere. This is the only shoe I have ever worn where I have not had one blister. They are also the most durable shoe I have ever worn. I have worn two pairs of this shoe for a year now.

Fri, January 20,2006:
I have used these for a while now and did find there was a lot of room in the heal area (yet was right size). However, if you do loop-lacing locks at the top, this stops and they are right as rain. Supremely comfortable and nice room in toe box. Good for neutral runners with solid arches. All I can say is try lacing a shoe differently before you slate it - it's surprising what a difference it makes.

I have been running on the Nimbus models for the past three years. The GT's wear out too quickly. I am 5'10," 140 lbs and need something durable with a lot of cusion. I used to get stress fractures but no more. Run about 40 miles/week on pavement and 3-4 half marathons per year. They will blister if you wear the wrong socks, and I needed a few runs to break the arch in, as it is pretty high. Otherwise, a great shoe for a the larger, long-distance runner.

Very nice shoe. I enjoyed the spirited negative comments from some but this is a nice shoe for someone needing cushioning. It fits better than the VI too. I run mostly trails and it works for them too. The lack of color choices is the most negative thing I have to say. Run!!

I'm about to purchase my 4th pair of Asics GEL Nimbus VII. In 2005 I also ran in Adistar Cushion, Mizuno Wave Creation 6, and Brooks Epiphany 2...but none gave me same level of comfort as Nimbus VII. Pros: Fit great right out of the box, no break-in period, awesome room in toebox (no more squeezed-toe pain), overall fabulous feel. Cons: laces are a little too short and the shoes feel like they're passing their prime at 220-250 miles (which means they cost me ~$.50/mile). My history: I'm training about 30-35 mi/wk; ING Miami '06 will be my third 26.2. I'm neutral pronator, med/heavy build, normal arches, heel-striker. I have zero heel slippage using the "Heel Slippage" lacing trick on this website under "Running Information" "Shoe Fit Tips" tab. No blisters, but I wear WrightSox--never blisterd in any shoe. Also, short laces may only be caused because I don't like tightly laced shoes; if it were an issue, I'd just buy longer laces.

This is my second pair of Nimbus and I like them much more than my first pair. I am not a professional runner, definitely not a marathon-er, I simply jog because it's good for me and I need to lose a little weight. I need the cushion that the Nimbus offers. I am VERY pleased with my VII! They fit great on the first run in them! Excellent shoe.

They feel great for my legs (no injuries or knee problems) but my feet don't like them that well. They pinch the top of my foot, I have high arches, and asics shoe laces are always too short. Also a bit chunky, they could be a little lighter and smoother feeling on the transition. More importantly however my legs aren't getting injured so thats a plus.

This is my first pair of Asics. It has exactly what I am looking for in a pair of shoes and had found in New Balance for years. I want a cushioned shoe without a lot of stability. The toe box is roomy and does not cramp my forefoot. I have used them for speed work, long training runs, and have raced in them from 5K to half marathon. I am rotating them with two pair of New Balance that I still have and find myself picking the Asics more and more. I have just bought a pair of 1060 New Balance that I hope will give me the performance of the Nimbus. My only hold-back from giving them a 5 star is I want to see what kind of mileage I get out of them (approximately 200 miles so far and no wear problems). All in all, a very good shoe.

I have run in these shoes off and on for 3 months now. I have to say that they are NOT what they are cracked up to be. The shoe runs at least 1/2 size larger all the around than the VI's. The toe box is too large. When running on trails or courses with a lot of turns you get slippage in the toe box. Also, when you lace them down to make up for larger toe box, it creates a pressure point at the base, on top of your toes. My first 5K run resulted in a toe that had the skin rubbed off...even through cushioned socks. Does anyone know where I can find a pair of VI's??

This is my first pair of Asics. After years of running in Nike shoes, I have given up on Nike and the whole Shox concept. Running in these shoes makes me remember why I like to run. On initial try-on, this is the softest, most comfortable shoe you can buy. However, my experience with the shoe is that it feels heavy and a bit clunky once you break it in and compare it to other cushioned shoes. I know that there are Nimbus die-hards out there. The shoe is just not as functional as my first impression of it would lead me to believe.

Originally posted as a 5-star shoe. After a couple of hundred miles - downgrading the shoe. Loved the the VI's and expected more from these. Sized down a 1/2 size as recommended and I float in them now. Never had a blister problem but the shoe has felt clunky - not responsive like the VI's. Cushioning is great but the fit and $$$ will likely push me to another shoe.

Not an improvement compared to Nimbus VI: I experienced heel slippage even though more coverage in heel (not a plus). Also felt more cushion in forefoot and too snug in arch area. Still a nice roomy toebox. Too much shoe material. (I have a high arch and a neutral to underpronator).

6' 193 Neutral to underpronater, high arch. Like most others, I was a heavy user of the Nimbus and liked the Iv, V and VI's. I cannot fit my foot with the VII - either too long or too short. Don't have the heal problems others talk about but the shoe feels too mushy in the forefoot for long runs. They feel good for short runs and walking around but are not as promised. I do recommend VIP RRS status for you can return shoes that are not what they claim to be unlike others.

These are my first big disappointment with an ASICs shoe. I feel like I've been ripped off big time; at $120 which is a very big price; I expected so much more than what are really $49.99 shoes. Way to go ASICs.

An avid purchaser of the Nimbus, the new VII is a huge disappointment. Size down by half size from previous models and the shoe still fits badly. Its a redeigned heel area to blame..very wide and poor support. Yes the cushioning still great, but am for the first time in many years looking for to move away from Nimbus.

I loved the orange Nimbus VI shoes; they were flexible yet cushiony. As soon as I put them on, I felt I had the perfect shoe. Of course, that was the only pair of Nimbus VIs I've ever been able to buy, and I've ended up with some VIIs. After a couple of months in the VIIs, I have severe Achilles soreness, most likely due to the extra high heel counter and the fact that they just aren't very flexible. When you're a forefoot striker, you need a shoe that won't fight your foot. Also, I seem to stumble and scuff my toes a lot in them, though they don't seem any roomier than the VIs. This could also be due to the stiffness.

I was a huge fan of the Nimbus VI. I went through two pairs and used them to train for a great marathon. Naturally, I was eager to try the improved fit of the VII's. I couldn't be more disappointed. I personally feel they made the fit too sloppy which just makes the shoe feel incredibly cumbersome. My feet didn't blister but I have noticed the ankle pain others have mentioned. Mine are not worn out, but I need something else. I hate running in them.

I've always had good luck with ASICS, until now. These felt great @ first, but after 100 miles I was ready for something else. The heel fit became sloppy , and when I tried to lock the laces to tighten up the heel, I began to get soreness in the left ankle. For the money, a pretty serious disapointment.

My first pair of Nimbus VIIs and I LOVE them. Am training for a marathon after recovering from multiple foot and ankle injuries -- which I think were all part of my bad experience with ASICs Evolution (WORST shoes EVER!). VIIs are like running on air -- even after 15+ miles.

Just finished an early autumn 10 miler. I usually don't post any comments but want to on the VIIs. Yes, the heel blisters started in my 5th run in the shoes. I gritted through them and now the shoes seem ok. I just don't trust these shoes the way I did with other ASICs products. I may or may not buy another pair because I have no loyalty to these shoes like runners usually have for a certain make and model. My opinion of ASICs certainly went down though. Times are tough and a $120 price for just so-so shoes is way too steep.

Have only run approx. 4 times for a total of 12 miles in these shoes and so far no problems-great cushioning for a 200 pounder-heel box does seem a little roomy and loose, but no blisters so far-use an anti-slip lacing technique.

These shoes are just okay. Nothing great, nothing bad. Didn't blister in them, but did get some hot spots on bottoms of feet. I've worn lots of shoes and I would recommend people try other brands/models before paying $120 for these. I think you can get the same comfort at a much lower price.

I'm really choosy about running shoes. I thought for $120 I'd get top of the line quality, support and cushioning as well as durability--about 300 miles or more. ASICs, you numbskulls!!!! Do your reps give you all this bad feedback or are you like all other companies who cannot or willnot reverse direction when you have a crappy product. Get with the program and fix the Nimbus VIIs or lose a whole lot of runners. By the way I ran less than 1 damn mile before heel blisters started. And I usually run 10 a day. ASICs you are run by morons.

Read the reviews and scoffed at those reporting blisters and put it down to people jumping on a bandwagon to knock down the premier running company. Ordered my Nimbus 7s to replace my much loved Nimbus 6s, went for a gently 4 miles to wear them in and (you guessed it), heel blisters. If you check inside the heel there seems to be a raised ridge where the padding joins the heel counter. Guess if your heel is shaped the wrong way (as many peoples' seem to be) then this rubs and you blister. Loved the shoe in every other way so really disappointed to have to look for a replacement.

What's not to love? This is an awesome shoe. I'm on my way to buy a new pair. This shoe provides great cushioning from toe to heel. The forefoot cushioning is generous and extremely responsive. The toebox is both roomy and incredibly breathable. I'm a medium-light weight runner who slightly under pronates, this shoe got me out a rut and has given me the protection I need to increase the speed of my runs. Cheers.

These have been the only shoes that haven't tortured my feet in quite a while! I was running in Kantaras and Nike did the same thing - the "Kantara II" was a completely different shoe! Nothing like the original! So I feel for all the old Nimbus fans who are disappointed with this latest model! But, I've tried every cushioned shoe from every manufacturer and so far these have been outstanding! I just ordered my second pair! I am 5'9", 195lbs, about 30+ miles per week-increasing for Fall marathon training. High arches, neutral gait, and lotsa feet issues! Just did 13 this past Saturday - no blisters, no plantar fascia pain, no neuroma pain! And believe me, my feet are beat to hell! I agree totally that these shoes have very little support, but the cushioning is tops - stick a pair of inner soles in 'em. That does the trick! If you've tried all the rest, get the VIP membership to be safe and give these a try!

Where is the arch support in this shoe? This shoe definately should not be recommended for medium to high arch runners. Agree w/ Mr. Ryland totaly. VI's were perfect these are horrible. I'll admit I was skeptical about the negative posts for blisters and tread wearout at 100+ miles. I believe now. Run 70+ each week. Took the VIIs for a 20 miler on Sunday, started blistering at 15 mile mark and actually ran the last 5 beach miles barefoot. Really wanted to toss these darn shoes in the Pacific but I want my money back from the RRS VIP return program. If ASICs ever again wants my business they better take these shoes off the market and totally revamp the VIII model to eliminate the blisters.

Pro: I love the ride; incredible. The heel-toe transition very smooth. This seems to set Asics above the compition. Con: This is supposed to be one of Asics' best shoes, but midway through my second run the lateral side of the left heel started rubbing my foot. The pain grew more intense as I ran the 5 miles back home. I don't know what happened, but the heel felt like it collapsed a little on that side. Now I cannot run in the shoe or I will get a killer blister. Not to mention, I noticed tread wear after two runs. I am 5'7", 145 lbs. and run 10 miles most days. These are supposed to be Asics' beefiest cushioned shoe. What's the deal?

I'm in my 70s and, yes ,continue to run, although at a much slower pace. As a graybeard, my running goes way back to the days of jogging in the old converse sneakers. So I have seen and tried hundreds of running shoes. The bottom line is today's shoes are higher priced and wear out a whole lot faster than shoes made 20 years ago. I used to pay $60 for shoes and get 700-800 miles from them. Today I'm paying over $100 and getting 300 miles. Doesn't take long to figure out why. The shoe companies are sticking it to us big time. The Nimbus VIIs are a classic example. Priced at $120, they're poor quality for the price. I got 300 miles from the VIs and no blisters. I got 125 miles and lots of heel and toe blisters from the VIIs. My last blisters from shoes were in the 1950s from a pair of $5 converses.

Although the cushioning on these shoes feels more balanced than that of the Nimbus 6, they begin breaking down on the lateral side way too quickly (48 miles for me). If you truly are an underpronater, these may not have enough lateral support to be worth the money. I'm also finding that the upper is stretching out, which may be okay at the toe box, but not at the midfoot.

I was worried about all the bad reviews for the GEL Nimbus VII, but I went ahead and shelled out the 120 bucks. Great investment. I LOVE these shoes!! These are absolutely the BEST cushioned shoes I have ever worn in my 35 year track and field career. I was Illinois State High School 400 meter champion in 76, 77, Big 8 Champion in the 400 and 600 in College for Univ. of Nebraska and ran sprints, 100 through the 800. Now, being 45, I can say I have gone through hundreds of pairs of running shoes over the years and none compare to the cushioning of these shoes. I run alot of 5K's now, and a 10K here and there. I had Plantar Fasciitis problems in the past couple of years and run a little more on asphalt than I used to, otherwise speed work on the track, and Cushioning is key for me. I have had no problems whatsoever with blisters or anything else. These shoes feel like I'm on air and makes me a more efficient runner. I would recommend these shoes to anyone needing cushioning, and they are awesome for me. My husband loves them too, he needs cushioning for his knees and these are the best ones he's run in

Took me forever to find the right shoe for me...I'm actually pretty flat footed and pronate when I walk, but just barely when I run. Finally, after too many stability shoes that caused ITB syndrome, somebody put me in the Nimbus VI's. They were fantastic. Went through two of them, then thought I 'd try to find a little lighter shoe. Nothing worked! Came back to the Nimbus and all is well. Very cushioned, perfect fit....the trick is sizing down one half size from your normal size. I wore a 9 1/2 in the VI's, but I wear a 9 in the VII's. SUPER SOFT ride, with great toe off! Makes the long runs for me very bearable.

I love them! I'm a walker and hadn't walked much since having a baby. I bought a bad cheap pair of shoes with a high arch and couldn't walk for weeks. I didn't know anything about feet and shoes then. Doctor sent me for arch support, etc.... Made my feet burn and hurt more. Finally I realized I just needed a very cushioned shoe and insert cause I've got some extra weight and I'm tall. Was on vacation and trilled to go to the new Orange co. store. I actually tried some ascis the sales clerk thought I needed due to a low arch, but again, almost instant burning and heel pain. So, I went to the opposite extreme for high arch/heavy runner and just love these shoes with the extra padded insert (I forgot the name, but it's a RR product). I was desperate for pain relieve, so I didn't care about the price and bought the membership so I could return them. I was so amazed my feet are happy now. Haven't had time to actually go walking in them, but I wear them to the park, shopping, hom

I really love these shoes. I haven't felt this relaxed on runs ever. The cushioning on the Nimbus VII's is simply incredible. I really feel like I'm floating when I go out on runs. Another thing I noticed is that these shoes seem to add a little spring to each step. My previous shoes were the Asica GT-2100 and I'm loving the Nimbus VII's so much more. No problems with blisters or fit problems. Fits like a glove. I'm 5'6, 135 lbs and run 30 miles/week.

Been running since high school-40 years. Used thousands of shoes; tried these; got heel blisters. Last heel blister was 35 years ago, in a pair of $5 shoes. Paid $120 for these-somehow inflation kicks in but not at this rate-sure wish my investments returned the same increase. These shoes at $25 would be a good deal.

Maybe I'm a little off base but $120 for running shoes is way too expensive. I tried these despite the ridiculously high price. They're just barely ok. I've paid $49 for shoes and gotten just as much comfort. Then I saw they were made in China and thought "Wow $120 for shoes made for about $10". Something's wrong with this picture. I've been screwed before but at least been kissed.

I didn't have blister problems with this one. I'm a heavy runner (5-11, 205) and these have been great for me. I bought these after wearing out a pair of 2080s. It was a good upgrade for me. I'm totally sold on Asics now. This is the only brand that has been consistently comfortable for me.I dock one star because these shoes are a tad too expensive. Correct pricing, in my mind, should be $99.

Bounced around in a couple of different shoes over the past few years and landed in the VI's last year - very happy with them. Willing to try the VII's this year but only after I had them fit checked which resulted in a 1/2 size smaller (10 to 9 1/2). After a couple of mid range tempo's and a 13 long, the VII's are dead nuts on for me. No problems - I like the extra softness this year (mild supinator - mid arch, 46, 180#). Very happy I went with them but certainly more happy that I checked out the fit first for the right size (I also bought a pair speedstar's and those also had to size down 1/2 size - wonder if Asics changed their last sizings??)

Had read some of the early reviews but took a chance. Left shoe at heel just failed. Hard plastic has worn through poor cushioning and is causing blistering on upper heel - this is at less than 100 miles. Really disappointed - as others have put it $120 for blisters!!! Been on vacation a few weeks, run more than when I'm working. Bought VIIs just before vacation to make my own judgment. I have owned these shoes for a few weeks now and have run about 60 miles so far, and have had no problems whatsoever with them. A common thread through some of the positive reviews seems to be that larger runners like me (6'3" / 220 lbs) seem to find the shoes more comfortable than others. I run with the Nimbus VII shoes and Thorlo socks and find the combined cushioning effect to be fantastic. I have had problems in the past with knee pain during longer runs, but have experience no such issues with these shoes. I highly recommend them.

I have run in every Gel Nimbus model since its inception, and this is the best yet. The cushioning is excellent in both the rearfoot and the forefoot. The forefoot fit is significantly improved over previous models. As recommended, I sized down 1/2 size, and the fit is perfect. As a heavy runner (6'1" 190 lbs.) I cant imagine running in a better shoe. I run 30 miles per week, and have experienced no blisters on my heals or elsewhere. I used to rotate running in the Nimbus with running in the Kayano. I can't say enough good things about this shoe. This is the first pair that I've spent >$100 on, and I was skeptical if they were worth it. I liked Nimbus V, never got VI, and wondered why Ascis would try to improve. But these shoes work really well for me. I'm 6'1", 195 lbs, and the cushioning is fabulous. I've had the shoes for about 1 month, and have used them for track interval workouts and 10-11 mile runs. Never had a problem with blistering. I love the looser toe-box and the better forefoot cushioning. Gives the shoe a much more "natural" feel, almost like I'm running barefoot - but with the cushioning. It felt strange when I first ran in them, and almost like they were unstable. But I think that is just because I was used to shoes that were tighter and more binding. I really like the looser toebox fit now. I would never want to have to go back to the Nimbus V's.

I LOVE THESE SHOES. The Nimbus VI are the ones that gave me blisters on my heels. I sized down a 1/2 size with the VII as recommended and...perfect. Let's face it--everyone's foot is different. What works for some will not work for others. To say that Asics needs to re-work these shoes and that loyalty is lost is absurd. Next year's model will probably not fit me but will everyone else. Bottom line: try them on and see if they work--if not, then try one of the other umpteen models available.

Loved the Nimbus VI. VII is still a good shoe but there are differences. VIIs seem to have more rearfoot cushioning and are slightly more responsive, which I like. Also seem slightly more stable. On the downside, they are longer and wider, which will make anyone who had found the PERFECT fit in the Nimbus VI unhappy. I tried sizing down a 1/2 size and found those too small; my old size is just slightly too big. Overall, still a good shoe and works well for a small runner with high arches who needs extra cushioning.

I remember that when the Nimbus VI first came out there were LOTS of complaints and low ratings on this forum, because it was such a change from the Nimbus V. People got over it, I guess, and then you saw mostly positive comments and high ratings. I haven't had any problems, so far, and have only experienced good, protective cushioning and a (finally) well-ventilated upper. I think I'd like to see how these hold up over the next several weeks, particularly in knees, shins, arches, Achilles, etc., and post again.

I run 40-50 per week. Have used Nimbus" for many years and editions of the shoe. VIs were great. Tried VIIs, ran a 10k and stopped after the 5k mark with heel blisters on both feet. What a disappointment the VIIs are. ASICS you now have the challenge to either change the VII flaws or get the VIIIs into production now OR face the consequence of losing a lot of customers to Nike, Mizuno, etc.

I have loved my Nimbus VIs, so I was happy to buy the Nimbus VIIs when they came out. However, the changes in the VIIs are not positive, at least for my feet. The VIIs seem longer and wider than the VIs, especially in the toe box. ASs a result, my toes shift around a bit when I run, and rub against the stitching inside the instep - blisters at any distance over three miles. Just ordered another pair of VIs, which are perfect. I'm a heavy runner (over 220 lb) who puts in 3-4 miles a day. Coming from a pair of Wave Creation '04's, these left me a little disappointed. The fit is fine, but the right shoe's cushion in the ball of the foot is too stiff. I've never had that problem with a pair of shoes before. I'm a long time Asics fan and these just dented my loyalty.

I like what Asics has done with the cushioning-making the shoes more "centered" so that my feet don't feel thrown off to the lateral sides. I also like the increase in flexibility w/o loss of stability because I thought that previous versions were very still. The changes to the upper, for the most part, are good, with more durable biomorphic panels and more toe space. Although I haven't had a problem with the heels, the heel fit is definately less cushioned than the 6, and slips a little. No blisters, and not enough of a big deal to make me switch to another brand, but I plan to try the Landreth.

Great fitting shoe for me. I usually have problems with heel slippage, but these shoes fit great--as good a fit as my Brooks Adrenaline with a much better cushioned ride. I'm 6'2, 210 lbs and run 15-20 miles per week.

These have worked out well for me so far. I agree that the fit is slightly looser overall than the 6s, but I didn't size down; instead got socks that were just a little thicker and haven't had any problems (after 80 miles). These shoes have an incredibly smooth ride. I also picked up the Landreth to rotate. I'd never worn Asics before the Nimbus 6.

This is a follow up to my review below, the Nimbus VII is working out fine, sizing down a half size, still some issues with the heel, Asics is using a different insole material in the VII which is different ( spongier) than the previous models contributing to friction in the heel. I trimed the upper ( hard edge ) of the insert at the heel and this seems to help. Asics should go back to the older insert.

ASICS, shame, shame with the VII. You improved the shoe but tinkered too much with the heel. I sit here with 2 huge blisters and mounting angst at you. Please fix the gosh darn problem and dont try to reinvent the wheel.

The nimbus 7 provides greater cushioning than the 5 which I ran in, I skipped the 6. One thing I noticed is I had to down size a half size to a 9 due to a loose fit. I ran in the 9 1/2 a I too got a blister on my right (smaller ) heel ( great run otherwise) . After pulling the insert out I noticed that there is a rubber cushioned section to the last. Along with the insert material used this allows the heel to drop on impact ( particularly with heel strikers) thus causing some friction. I will report back after I have tried the smaller size-cautiously optimistic

Sounds like love/hate revirews with no in between opinions. I'm sending thes back. Didn't blister but can see where people would because heels are much tighter vs. sixes. Cushioning is much less than former nimbus editions.

Diappointed with VIIs. Feel like Brooks Epiphany model; little cushioning and yes I blistered too because the heel cup is much tighter.

Best nimbus yet great cushion forefoot and heel very responsive one problem i had with the 6 is forefoot midsole didnt have balanced thickness medial versus lateral which caused you to run on the outside off your feet not good if your neutral but ASICS SEAMS TO HAVE SOLVED THAT PROBLEM so far iam happy no blisters

Maybe the back-of-the-heel blistering is due to having less cushioning there, than the VI had. The heel does fit looser, but thicker socks took care of that for me. I agree that these shoes give a very smooth ride and good support/cushioning.

Have worn Nimbus' for several years. Nimbus VI was extremely good; however you can take or leave the dynamic foot cradle for whatever that means. The Nimbus VII gat an "F" grade from me. I thought I was nuts after blistering in the left heel area until I read the other messages. ASICS, please don't keep trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Just finished first run in VIIs. Like other posts, blistered left heel; right shoe ok. Something is wrong, ASICS please take feedback and do research. Correct issues because other than blistering, these shoes are good.

It sounds like a love-hate relationship with these. I love them, for lots of reasons. I tried the 5 and hated them, wore the 6 and really liked them, but thought they were still a little chunky. These have a very smooth ride, with excellent heel-to-toe transition. An unexpected bonus is that I've even been able to run a little faster, maybe because that huge hunk of foam (dynamic cradle) has been replaced by a more efficient system. I don't notice any loss of midfoot support with the redesigned midfoot support system. The upper is more open, and the mesh more ventilated. I didn't size down from the size I wore in the 6, but it is a slightly looser fit, and I just pulled the laces a little tighter. I'm very happy with the cushioning, and have not even experienced a hot spot, much less a blister, so can't identify with those who did. I've always worn Wave Creations, and last year rotated with the Nimbus 6, but I will stay with the 7s exclusively.

Tried VIIs after having great successes with several pairs of VIs. Prefer the VIs; like other posts, I blistered in VIIs. Been running for 35 years and rarely blistered before. ASICS needs to see if there is a defect in early production of VIIs. To those posts saying VIIs are great, happy trails and running.

Strange goings on here with the Nimbus VII. I too blistered on left heel with first run in the shoes. They're on their way back to RRS.

I give these shoes just 1 star. I loved the Blue Nimbus VI. The VII is bigger in size, suggest sizing down 1/2 size vs. the VI. Also, the soles are much redesigned vs. the VI; i.e. not as thick and not as cushioned. Finally, on my first run in the VII I blistered in heel of left foot. Never did blister in any previous Nimbus models. Sure wish ASICS would stop tinkering with the Nimbus, leave it alone.

awesome shoe i love what asics did with this new model- great cushioning in the forefoot and heel. very breathable for those hot summer days-- it's worth the extra 10 dollars that asics priced up-looking forward to my next pair.
