Good shoe; great cushioning and comfortable for long runs. One major criticism is the fabric surrounding the heel inside the shoe wears down to the plastic heel surround after ~250 miles. I agree with an earlier review that this shoe should last longer.

I like this shoe a lot. Cushion is good but not too bouncy. It was less sloppy for me than the Nimbus VII was and I like a more firm shoe anyway. So I thought it was a good change from the model before. Don't know if I like it more or less than the 9. I am looking forward to the X coming out th...

Not nearly the shoes the Nimbus VII is. The VIII caused arch pain pretty much out of the box.
As others have said, why can't they leave a good design alone??

These are absolutely awful!! I bought a pair on closeout Nov '07 via the web after having run my last pair Nimbus VII's into the ground. The VIII's appear to suffer from the same problems the Brooks Glycerin line had transitioning from the Glycerin II to Glycerin III a couple of years ago - the VIII...

The Nimbus VIII is a definite downgrade from the VII in my opinion. The VII hugged my foot just right, constantly coaxing me to keeping going. With the VIII, I just want to quit. The toebox is smaller, the cushioning is less and the overall comfort has diminished. Missing my VII's...

Light, breathes well and comfortable early on but brok down after about 300 mile. A shoe that expensive should last longer.

I am 6'4" and 210 lbs. The shoe was great for the first 300 miles and then breaks down quickly. I do like the shoe and purchased two more pair that were on clearance so the price was right. Would not have paid retail again.

6'3", lean, 165lbs; been alternating between 2 pairs since Summer of '06 and love them... first orange pair hugged my feet a little better than than navy pair I got back in January... no biggie though- great for light trail as well as road!

I was doing 40-50 miles a week in these for 3 months with no injuries. Doesn't feel as cushy as the VII, but does the job. Recommended shoe.

different to the 7, lower, more stable, firmer cushioning, not as soft and bouncy. great heel to toe transition. these seem to fit shorter and narrower than the 7. smaller toebox, better upper, rubs less than the 7. a very nice shoe overall.

I'm a novice and my first 10km went very good in it. Though it feels less cushioning when I tried it at the shop (compared with Nike 180), but after the 10km, I have no problems with my feet. Highly recommended.... can't go wrong with an Asics.

These shoes are pretty decent except for the fact that they have no cushioning. It's a good thing I have orthotics because my feet would die in these.

I have run in the last 3 pair of nimbus and the viii is aweful. This is Asics cushioning shoe but there is no cushioning. I ran 5 miles in these shoes and began having foot problems to the point where I went back to my nimbus 7's to fix the problem. Asics should be embarassed to sell these shoes.

Light and comfortable, but not that durable. I'm a big runner; 6'4/220 who under-pronates and experienced significant weardown on the heel at about 300 miles. I just bought the Nimbus 9 and hope they're more durable b/c I prefer Asics.

Best shoe ever worn. Period. Have tried every neutral and stability shoe in the last year, including the Nimbus 9's. All, I mean all, gave me problems. Plantar Faciitis, Peroneal tendonitis, shin splints, you name it. No problems with the 8's. Cushion is really unmatched, and the ride is great. I mu...

I've been running in Asic Cumulus shoes for 6+ years and they are great, but because I weigh 220 lbs, I was talked into trying out the Nimbus for its so-called extra support and cushioning. As far as I can tell, these shoes offered far less cushioning than the the Cumuluis, to the point where I can...

I guess I'm in the minority here, but this shoe has served me very well through the back half of marathon training, the 2006 Chicago race itself, and then winter training, followed by two more half-Ms. I agree with others that break-in wasn't as fast and easy as it was with the VII, but I'm somewher...
