Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

I have been running in Asics for 20+ years and loved the GT21xx series. I'm sorry to say that I cannot say the same for the GT2120. Since I've started running in them I have had nothing but pain in my legs which is a first for me. No cushioning and very stiff. I'll try some inserts to add some comfort but if that doesn't work it's the trashcan and time to switch.

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

I'm 6'2", 235lbs (at the moment) and bought these after trying them on at a local running store. They fit extremely well from the moment I tried them on (this is extremely important...if someone tells you a shoe needs time to break in because you've told them it doesn't feel right, don't buy there!) I'm currently training for my first marathon after being "injured" from running on old shoes (my fault). After getting the new shoes, the "injuries" that I had started to disappear. 6 weeks in and the shoes still feel great!

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

I don't understand what all the negative reviews are about. I had two previous pairs of 2110's, and the 2120's are SO similar. If you liked the 2110's, then you will enjoy the 2120's. They feel the same (and fit the same), only they are lighter. The 2130's feel quite different. They are wider, and for me the fit was totally sloppy. But the 2120's are quite possibly the best shoes I've ever run in. Bottom line; if you liked the 2110's, then get some 2120's and be done with it. And start looking for some new shoes, because the 2130's are WAY different.

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

anyone who says a Nike or Reebok shoe is better than a pair of Asics hasn't run enough miles to be considered a real runner. Asics are without a doubt 1 of the 2 brands that are the most trusted. More specifically, the 2100 series is time-tested and approved to be THE shoe which holds all the miles without sacrificing stability or responsiveness. Besides "worsest" is not even a word.

I have been running with GT 2xx for as long as I can remember (have been running for 20+ years. GT 2110 was awesom but the The last pair of GT2120 were so bad that I was so frustrated that I made a 180 switch to Izumi Pearl running shoes and love it. I almost wrote a letter to the product manager but didn't know how to get in contact with them to complain. They have lost a very faithful Asics follower. The shoes felt dead on cushioning and feels. They will have to do something drastic to get me back to Asics again!

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

I've run with Asics DS-trainers and Asics 21xx shoes for the last 18 years and this new shoe (2120) is a disappointment. I had no problems with the 2100 and 2110, but this shoe provides TOO much arch support causing problems with my arches. I also believe there is too much of a medial post so I now have problems with my knees that I have not had for 17 years. I ran with the shoes for several weeks and then switched to my older 2110 and no longer had problems. I wear custom made orthotics that I have worn for 17 years and have not had problems with any other pair of shoes. Now the search goes on to find a replacement.

I've worn the 20xx series for many years and been satisfied; the 2120, however, is a major disappointment. No problems with cushioning or flexibility like other reviewer here; my problem is fit. Too loose: my socks bunch up under my toes and I've had calluses and blisters. They must have changed something besides the midsoles. Any ideas? Does Asics have a site where one can give feedback?

I decided to give the 2120 a try. I have been using the Brooks Adrenaline. I loved the cushioning of the 2120 and was sold on it until around 130 miles. The top part of the shoe started to tighten up and became very painful to wear. Very strange! I am now in the Mizuno Inspire 3 and love the cushioning!!!

Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2120 Running Shoe:

Just used this shoe to hike the entire Continental Divide Trail (from Canada to Mexico). Light, comfortable and lasts about 500 miles then the uppers start to dissolve in all the fords. Would use it again...requires no break-in and dries wicked fast. Starts breaking down at 300 miles or so....pretty flat at 500 miles. Does not lack cushion until the breaking point. I used 6 pairs on this hike which took less than 4 months and over 2600 miles. Good shoe for me anyway!

I loved the 2110. They were the best shoes I have ever worn. Naturally I thought the 2120 would be as good but I was wrong. They are cut so narrow that I had to get a wide size. They are okay now but there is a lot of differences in the new model. Unless your foot is very narrow in the midfoot you will need a wide or 4E. I was dissappointed with these.

Since I've started running in them I have had nothing but pain in my legs which is a first for me. No cushioning and very stiff. I'll try some inserts to add some comfort but if that doesn't work it's the trashcan and time to switch.

I have approximately 300 miles on these shoes and, aside from a tear in the side mesh and the expected wear on the sole, they have held up fairly well. The 2120s provide good heel and arch support. Both of these aspects have diminished very little since I first wore them, though I do tend to be on the lighter side. The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the firmness of the upper material. Initially, the tops of my feet would hurt after I ran if I tied the shoes tightly. Soreness, however, is no longer an issue. Either the shoes have become more flexible with age or I have become accustom to it.

This shoe works very well for me. Lighter than 2110. I was somekind suspicious before ordering but now I am happy with the new features. I don't know why so many people don't like it. I suppose the fact that the shoe is stiffer can perturb non-efficient runners. In that case, I would suggest them to replace the insole. For the toe box, I have not seen any difference with 2110. Again, for some people it little adjustments can be a source of problems.

The 2120 is actually a decent shoe. The fit is similar to the 2110 with a wide toebox, medium width midfoot, and an average width heel. I've just retired my pair of 2120's after 618 miles but will not be buying another pair. The Solyte cushioning definately provides good cushioning but is a very hard type of cushioning similar to that of New Balance. The Solyte still provides protection after 20+ mile training runs with no problems but takes some getting used to. I'm not sure what others are talking about by saying that there's no cushioning. If you want the cushy, pillowy kind of soft of the speva, look at the 1120 which is great shoe and cheaper to boot. The 1120's have been fine even after 22 mile training runs.

Very disappointing. Have been a long time user of the series but this one rearranges the toe box oddly and it does not have the cushioned feel I have come to expect. The transition is too stiff. It has become mediocre at best. Why ruin a good shoe?

I too have been running in the GT-2XXX shoes for many years. I have always immediately replaced the Asics insoles with higher quality ones and have never had any problems with cushioning or stability from this line of shoes. The 2120 is no different. I have done three runs since purchasing...two on the treadmill and one on asphalt, 15 miles total. So far so good. No blisters, joint problems or soreness in my feet or legs. After reading the reviews below, I was hesitant to get the 2120's, but I for one, cannot feel any difference between the SPEVA and the SOLYTE so far.

I recently purchased this shoe to replace my old gt-2110's. The first day I wore this shoe I developed a very sore (almost blistering) spot on the arch of my right foot. I ran almost 7 miles in these shoes the next day with no problems. These shoes are lighter than the 2110's and they do have a firmer feel to them. The cusioning so far seems to be adequate. I would recommend you give these shoes a chance, and not just wear them once and swear they are horrible.

I've run in Asics since the 1980s and this is the worst Asics shoe I've ever put on my feet. There is no cushioning, it is stiff, and my feet hurt when wearing them, even when using an elliptical machine. I hope Asics will return to a design more like the GT-2110s. If not, I'll be looking for a different brand for the first time in 20 years.

Too much hype! I returned my 2120s after a couple of days. Cushioning? Forget it...I also found the midsole to be very firm and uncomfortable. I swithed to the Nike AST 10+ and found it to have more heel cushioning, more reponsiveness, and a better overall shoe.

The 2120's are not a great shoe, but not a bad shoe either. I hear a lot of people complaining about the Solyte being too firm, but it's actually not too bad, even after long training runs over 20 miles. The 2120 ride height seems slightly lower than previous models and there's more of a 'fast feel the road' kind of sensation. The fit seems wide in the toe box but no more so than Mizuno or Adidas. I'd give 3 stars for fit, 3.5 stars for performance. I prefer the Cadillac ride of the Kayano XI or XII (not the XIII which I do not like) over the 2120.

Worst gt-21xx..... Solyte midsole is curse.. Very very stiff , no Cushionning. I can't run anymore. This shoes is more lighter and more durable. but no Cushioning, very very stiff shoes. Solyte midsole is Asics's incredible mistake. Come back to speva midsole.. This shoes is not feeling both gt2110 and gt-2100.. Brand new shoes.. I felt to run on wood board...

These are the BEST of the GT series yet. My first run ever in these shoes was the ING Georgia Marathon (yes, ill advised I know...) after training in 2110's and Kayanos. The fit was perfect. They felt light and had the ideal balance of support and cushioning.

Have been running since 2001 and think I have found my shoe. Could use a little more padding, but that should be fixed when I replace the insole. Light as a feather, and felt that it wasn't tight enough. I had to go a 1/2 size smaller and still have about 1/2" wiggle room. Wore a Saucony Trigon Guide but the shoe felt stiff in all the wrong spots--I recommend the Asics, period.

I can't rate these highly because I feel the 2120's, with there Solyte, have firmed up the ride. I enjoyed the 2090, 2100(my favourites) and 2110, to a lesser extent, because of their great cushioning/stability qualities. Asics seem to be concentrating on new materials that make the runners firmer, like the crappy nimbus VIII (worst ever version). Till Asics brings back some shoes with great cushioning, like they used to, I may return but till then I off with some one else.

I've run in Asics Kayanos and Brooks Adrenalines and have liked both, favoring the Kayano; however, these 2120's are far too tight and narrow in the midsole. Didn't even attempt to run in them, I'm returning them asap.

This shoe is just OK. I liked the 2090 and 2100 better. Now wearing a Brooks GTS-7 which is my new favorite. I wear a "narrow" -B width shoe and this model seems wider thru the forefoot. Heal is fine but they seem just a little loose. Good road feel but I'm wondering if they have enough cushioning for those really long (16+ miles) on pavement. We'll see. Definitely check out the Brooks as an alternative.

Lifelong GT-xxxx runner. I alternate between the 2120 and the 2110 daily. The look and feel of the shoes are very similar (indeed - I've accidentally strapped on one of each on dark early morning runs), with the 2110 getting the nod for superior cushioning and the 2120 slightly quicker, lighter. The impact on training run time is negligible though, so my question is, how do they hold up? The 2110's have proven to be the most durable GT's I've ever owned.

I've trained for two marathons on the 2110s and Kayanos and have never had the problems I've had with these 2120s. As with one of the earlier reviews, these shoes are tighter and have hot spots leading to bruising on the top of my feet and blistering which I've never experienced before. I've logged in over 2000 miles last year and this was a first. I've tried loosening the laces but it does not make a difference. The shoes also feels much harder than previous models.

I chose to run my first Marathon in the Asics GT-2120's. I was not disappointed! These shoes have one of the smoothest transitions from heel to toe that I have ever felt in the 2000 series. Secondly, the flexibility in the forefoot is very responsive for the forefoot-striker. I air mesh on the outsides of the shoe are a pleasant addition to the comfortable upper and heel cradle. I am normally an avid fan of the New Balance Brand and have been wearing New Balance running shoes for over all of my longer runs. However, after running in the Asics GT-2120, I am convinced that the 2000 series will not disappoint those looking for a reliable running shoe that offers comfort, mid-sole support, and a generous toe-box. The best aspect about this shoe is that the sole conforms to your foot and heel almost immediately, while other stability shoes need a little running before conforming. The GT-2120 is for the SERIOUS runner!

I have been an ASICS wearer for many, many years, including many marathons. Most recently, the GT-2100's were OK with me. However, something happened when they switched to the GT-2110's, and these GT-2120s have same problem. I need a fairly flexible shoe, but they changed something where now the middle of my foot feels pinched and my foot feels restricted when it flexes, even causing pain in the arch at times. I start noticing this after I run about 2 miles or so and then it gets worse as the run progresses. I have tried every possible lacing combination and nothing helps. I also tried the Gel 1120's and they have the same problem. Really bummed about this because I have always loved ASICS.

I've run in this line of ASICS for a long while and really liked the 2100. I thought the 2110 had too stiff a heel counter, but adapted to it by lacing more loosely. The 2120 corrects that problem and is noticeably lighter than its predecessors. The ride is, as always, great; but I like the comfort of the upper (less structured and cooler and laces and tongue work better together) and the entire heel cup (snugger without being tight, no friction). Everything about this shoe is terrific. It runs light, almost like the DS Trainer, but with a bit more cushion and (probably) much better durability for longer runs and older knees. ASICS just keeps working on a good idea to make it better without moving away from the things that always worked right in the first place.

I have been using the Kayano's for about a year and decided to try the 2120's. My first impressions is that the plastic plate on the bottom is a little too long. But after a 4 mile run my foot felt supported. Only one draw back i can find is the asics design on the side of the shoe. If you lace the shoe too tight you will feel added pressure on the sides of your foot. There are a few advanatages with this shoe over the kayano. First, the padding is great. I always seems to get flat kayanos. Second, the heel fits just right with just enough slip that the shoe is comfortable.
