Love this shoe! Buy 1/2 size up. Nice and snug (not sloppy) as well as lightweight. I like the heal cup and arch support. Best shoe ever!

I love this shoe. Although similar to other reviewers, I have had to add an insert to the shoe, I am heading into my third pair and have been able to wear each pair out without suffering shin splints..FINALLY!!!!! :)

I have been running this model shoe for several years-this version is by far the worst! I tried two sizes--the toebox still was not right.. Returned them and bought the 11!

I agree with the other posts - loved the older versions, but have found the XII fabric stiff and not as comfortable. The only plus is the sole and mid-sole seem to last longer, but If I had to choose, I'd rather the shoe fit better and need to be replaced more often.

I have run in DS Trainers for 5 years UNTIL the 12s. I was so unhappy with the fit, I ended up switching to Saucony.

Loved, loved, loved the DS Trainer XI.
Hate, hate, hate the 12 in comparison. After a marathon in these shoes, had a black toenail and some blisters, and sore legs during the race... which I didn't run as fast as in the XI, despite good training times (in a 2110-- can't use the DS Trainer everyday, heavy mileage wears it out too quickly).
Really wish I could go back to my XI's, but all FOUR pair that I had loved, loved, loved, have no tread remaining. Please bring back the XI!!!

I Love DS trainers! I must have gone through at least 10 pairs before I bought these. I heard the XII changed, but I had no idea how much. I ordered two different sizes, and both were stiff and horribly uncomfortable. I bought two closesouts of the XI and have since switched to Mizunos! No wonder this show is nearing extinction. Why did they have to mess with a good thing?

I love this shoe. I was running in evolution, until they changed. The only problem is the heel cup isnt as comfortable, or I could be running harder. Nice fast shoe. Plan on running a 1/2 marathon in them.

I was a huge fan of the XI but not the XII. Tight fit, crapped toes, heel slips. Just not the same. No wonder they are endangered!

I am a 5'8"/130 lbs orthotic wearer. Depending on what I am training for, I run between 30 - 50 miles/week. I LOVED the DS Trainer X, owned several pair and ran two marathons in them. Skipped the XI and now tried the XII. Although I agree with previous reviews that the upper no longer has the stretch-like material and the shoe is a bit stiffer, I still think it beats the current alternatives. I also run in the Saucony Grid Tangents III and the Nike Air Zoom Elites and although I like both of them in some ways, Asics shoes just seem to hug my foot more. I would give this shoe 4 stars down from 5 stars for the X (can't say anything about the XI as I never ran in them, although it sound like I should have given them a try...).

I've been running on DS Trainer X for years, skipped XI, and tried the 12. About 3 miles into my first run, I got a cramp on my foot and had to walk home, this NEVER, EVER happened to me and I limped for the next 2 days. Upper mesh not flexible at all and it caused my foot injury. Returned immediately.

This is a great shoe! Extremely lightweight, but at the same time, very supportive. I trained for and did an Ironman Triathlon in these shoes without injury, so that alone should be a testament to its durability and comfort.

Used to wear Asics, switch to Mizuno's wave creation, 6 was good, 7 was horrible. Went back to Asics with this shoe and can't beleive how great it is. I did need to use an insert for better arch support, but I feel like this is the best shoe I've ever worn.

I have always worn DS Trainers and loved the X and XI. I'm not a fan of these and had to return them. They were stiff and left me with blisters!

It has been six weeks since my purchase. The upper support is good, but without the stretch material the fit is not as glove like and the toe box is crampy. The cushioning is not as soft as the previous version.

Love these sneakers! They are light but at the same time have great arch support. I was getting cramps in my calf wearing saucony fastwitch, so I decided to try these! It was a good choice. LOVE ASICS!

I trained for and ran a marathon in the Gel-DS Trainer 11. The shoe fit so well, I was very concerned the DS 12 would not perform as well. While I like the new version, I miss the stretch material on the upper providing a great fit. Cushioning and stability appear to similar. I will write a follow up after longer runs in the shoes.

Wore them for a 20 miler and felt good but was a little nervous because the fit was SO perfect; wore them for Marathon this past weekend and they were fantastic; recovered quickly, ran two days later
