Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

This was my 9th pair of Kayanos. The 13 series was great. All the other Kayanos were wonderful too. These 14's were awful. The sizing was 1/2 size smaller than they were before, and the cushioning was bad. I am 6'2" and 215 lbs. and run 25 miles/wk. These 14's gave me injuries right out of the box.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

My first impression was that the shoe was so comfortable and stable; however, after just 4 or 5 runs I noticed that the heels were wearing excessively compared to the other Kayano's I have. I only have about 250 miles on these shoes and they are worn out! I am very disappointed in this model. I will go back to the Kayano XI's. I even got out the old 'shoe goo' to try and make them last longer.

im 5'11" and 152 lbs. and run 15-25 mi/wk. I switched to the 14's after i wore out my mizunos, what a mistake that was. My hips an legs were fine until i bought the 14's when i started having hip pain and knee issues. Its a heavy shoe and it loses all cushioning in the first handful of runs, then anything past 5 miles inflicts pain.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

Terrible. I wear EEEE, and even getting the EEEE all Asics sheoes are not compatible with my feet. I have worn the 21XX series in the past and thought maybe the problems were exclusive to that series, but this was not the case. The seam on outside of the shoe between the heel and the mid-foot digs in to the right side of my foot. I wore these on several runs - about 35 miles , and my feet hurt very badly at the end of this time period. Started wearing my GTS 9s again and my feet feel great again.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

I'm a Clydesdale at 6'3" and around 200 lbs. I've run in Asics for over 25 years. Like other reviewers, I liked the 12's, didn't care much for the 13 but the 14 might possibly be my favorite in a very long time. At least so far...I just broke out the 14's last night for the first time and ran 7 miles straight out of the box. A great run with no problems whatsover from the shoe. I'll definitely be ordering more (although I still have one pair of 12's, one pair of 13's and some DS Trainers that are still in their original boxes. I'm a little surprised at the folks that had bad luck with these, but I'd say that's one more reason why we're glad that there' more than one choice.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

I am 6'4, 200 lbs, heavy heel-striker, mild pronator. The Asics Kayano 12's were good, I skipped the 13's, and these 14's are the best yet. The stock insert doesn't hold up terribly well, so I replace it with an aftermarket insert (superfeet). Great fit, good non-spongy cushion, good durability. Excellent shoe!

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

I'm 6'2", 182 lbs, size 11.5, moderate overpronator, heel striker. So this shoe should be perfect for me right? Though it was pure soft joy to walk in and even to run in for like 1/4 mile, it simply did not work for me as a distance runner. I could not feel the heel / arch support like in my Mizuno's, and I felt significant lower leg muscle soreness - including some shin splint warning signs. These being some popular shoes, I tried wearing one Kayano and one Mizuno Nirvana, and the result was always the same. These are probably great shoes for other people, but for someone of my weight I couldn't help but feel I was crashing through the cushioning and injuring myself. Back to Mizuno I go.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

Have probably gone through 8 or 10 pairs of these over the last few years. First shoes I have found that provide good stability as well as the cushioning necessary to keep my temperamental knees happy. My one complaint is that these shoes seem to break down rather quickly. Don't think I've ever gotten 500 miles out of a pair...maybe once, but I was hurting pretty bad toward the end. Anyway, just picked up a pair of the 15's, I hope they are as good.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

Like Aaron, I'm 6'3", 185, 11.5 and mild overpronater. I've been running 15 years, approx 5 - 7 mi. day when not training for marathon. These shoes are great for about 1/4 or 1/2 mile, but after that, they're like bricks. Not flexible, very, very hard. These have given me my first shin splints/leg pain ever. Sadly disappointed in such a high rated shoe.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

So far this has been a great shoe for me. There's more cushioning than the 13, but it still has that firmer, quicker road feel that I like; not like the 2100 series which is overly cushioned and consequently has that sinking feel in the heel, and slow toeoff. I buy these after the newer versions come out, so I'm always one behind, but at least I can afford them. I just hope these 14's last longer than the 13's did.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

On my 2nd pair. Overall, the 14s have done well for me, and I have not had any blisters, but the fabric in toe area on 1st pair wore through at 100 miles, and the 2nd pair is wearing through at about 120. The holes are big enough for small stones. Never had this problem with other shoes.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

Love these shoes. Extremely comfortable and cushioning is amazing. Have put 150 miles on these running 35 miles a week and they have held up very well. Feel as good as they did out of the box. I am 140 lbs and plan to run 500 miles on these. After running exclusively with Nike's the past 10 years, I am very impressed with these Asics and would definately recommend and buy them again myself. They fit true to size for me and I wear the same size in these as in Nike.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

Wrote a review previously when just starting to wear the new 14s. 5ft8, 155 lbs and run about 15-30 miles per week. Have worn several pairs of the 12s and loved them. Did not like or keep a pair of the 13s I purchased. 14s are not as good as the 12s. I am sending one pair back and will use the other pair of 14s for short runs. Long runs left my toes hurting and felt like they were rubbing even when trying different sizes. Shoe laces caused the toe area to collapse. Having to go look for a new brand as the 12s are hard to find anymore. I would not recommend these shoes.

Inconsistent production. I have bought two pairs of these shoes. First pair I ran and completed a marathon in with no major injuries, pain, or blisters through the race or training. Second pair caused major joint and back aches. Gave plenty of time to break them in, but they are just not the same shoe. I had the exact same problem with Kayano XI. Asics needs to get its production line in order.

Yea, I'm an old Asics guy - they used to be Tigers - I had the Epirus. Remember those? Needless to say, these are better. I'm 5'10" 160 lbs. and I alternate every other day between these and the Nike Air Equalon 3. Fore me the Kayano 14s work much better. The Nikes tend to sink down in the heel. Its not just cushioning, they kind of slump. The Nikes feel like they take more energy to run in. The 14s are more solid and firm, with just the perfect sweet spot underneath the heel and sole. Excellent balance, fit, support and yes, even cushioning.

Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 Running Shoe:

I just want to thank all the runners here for taking the time to post their reviews. Thank you for letting me know the Kayano 14 is NO IMPROVEMENT. I used to LOVE the Kayano back in the days when it went by a season/year model (i.e. the Fall 1999 or Spring 2000 model). Ever since they moved to the numbered models, the quality has gone from bad to WORSE. I am brand loyal (and hope springs eternal), so each time a new model came out I crossed my fingers and bought them. Alas, I suffered blisters, a swollen Achilles tendon, metatarsal pain, and cushioning that went dead after only 2-3 months. I am sticking with the GT-2130's for now.

Best shoes I've ever ran in, period! Cushioning is outstanding. Was able to go five miles first run (shoes right out of the box. No blisters anywhere. And after 3 weeks of daily running still no complaints. Definitely improved my training.

I'm a heavy runner at just about 200lb. I've been running in Kayanos for well over 10 years. After 25 plus runs in the 14s so far I've had no problems. It feels like the 14s have more cushioning yet the stability is still there. I've always been pleased with Kayanos, and the 14s have been at least as good as any prior version, probably better.

I am very surprised at the negative reviews, because I've personally had no problems (and no blisters yet). I am actually on my 3rd pair of the 14's. In 30 years of running, these rank near the top of my all-time favorite shoes. I liked the Kayano-"12," and I liked my 1st pair of the "13" (but my 2nd pair was a dud). My 3 pairs of the "14" have been consistently satisfying.

Nothing can beat the Kayano 12's. I'll say that right away. The 13's seem gutless, however I do see a slight improvement in the 14's. I do tend to get a blister on my right heel though, whereas with the 12's I had no problem. With that said, if I wear duct tape on my heel then these shoes are amazing.

Sad to say that this will be my last pair of Asics Kayanos until some changes are made. The 12s were great, but 13 and now 14 have gone the wrong direction. 14 is not as stiff at 13, but the forefoot cushioning has died after only 200 miles, and the toebox is wreaking havoc with my feet. Fit is great for me, works well with low arches/orthotics, but the rapid decline of the cushioning is a big disappointment.

Switched from the 12s to the 14s. Have bought numerous pairs of the 12s. Did not like the 13s and stayed with the 12s. Found I had to go up 1/2 size even from the 12s. Comfortable shoe. No blisters yet with just 13 miles in the shoes. Will give a better review of once I have more miles in the shoes.

Everything I read on this shoe led me to believe that I had finally found my replacement for my 2120's but boy was I mistaken! Even just after a 5 to 8 mile run, my left foot in particular felt like I had not even been wearing a shoe to run in. The cushioning is non-existent as far as I'm concerned. Bring back the 2120's...PLEASE!!!

I was surprised to read the numerous comments about blisters. I have been purchasing between 6 and 8 Kayanos per year for the past eight years. I am 58 years old 6' 2" 195# and run about 6o miles per week. I live in Seattle so more than half my run involves steep hills. great shoe and now problems with the 14s.

Even after breaking in, I, too, have two huge, blisters on the inside of my heel. I've been brand loyal and Kayano loyal but the blisters forced me to another brand of shoe. I even tried them one more time tonight and got the same results- blisters. Perhaps, I could ship them to the company for their inspection?

6"2", 200 lbs, run 30-35 miles per week. I've been running Asics for 20 years and Kayano's for the last 4-5 models. I have two pairs of 14s which I rotate with 2 pairs of 13's. Both of the 14's gave me serious blisters on the inside of my heel after 4 miles. I've tried butterfly lacing and lots of different socks but I can't run in these things. I'm tossing them out and will run in the 13's until something better comes out.

Kayano 14's vs. Brooks Trance 7 - I bought both at discounts...Kayano is nice for walking all day in an air-conditioned building (hot, thick on sole), but when you get home, put on the Trance 7's (thinner, lighter, cooler) and they make you feel like running ("curled" feeling out of the box, and feels the road more) after break in, I just want to wear the Brooks Trace 7's all the time, as they are a far superior shoe....maybe the next "chariot"?? I'm recovering from knee injury; (patellar tendon pain with the Kayanos), but now can run again, thanks to the Brooks Trance 7's with a high arch insole (I use OdorEater plus gel insoles, as they have a high arch).

I have been running in the 14s for about six weeks. 5'10, 175lbs, 20 miles per week, long runs approx. 8-10 miles, long time Kayano user. Replaced the insoles w/Superfeet due to my excessive prontation, esp. in the right foot. The combo is terrific for me. The 14s are better than the 13s, mainly because the heal is a snugger, better fit. I have suffered from achilles and ITB injuries in the past which have always hampered increased mileage, but (knock on wood) no injuries so far. Gave 4 stars because the shoes are a little heavy, but you get use to it. Also, the shoes are initially a little stiff and need to be broken in for about 1-2 weeks. It goes without saying that these shoes are very expensive, but proportionate to other comparable stability + shoes. The shoes work for me, but then again, everybody's feet and needs are different. Happy trails!

6ft, 175lbs, 30 mi/wk. I've come back to Asics. The 14's are a fantastic update for my body type/gait. Ran in the 11's a few years ago and left them for Saucony's more cushy feel. Just went thru a pair of Hurricanes and found them mushy, cheap and unstable - causing my knees to feel achy, sinking to far into the shoe. The sole wore very quickly as well. I put a 30 mile week on the 14's and feel great. More of a shock absortion feel than a cushy feel, which I've only now discovered that my knees prefer. I'm back with you Asics. Say no to mushiness!

Bigger runner 200+ lbs, used the Kayano 11,12,13,& 14. The 13's heel was too loose, the 14 is better with an overall comfortable fit but it feels unresponsive, perhaps it's the solyte. For some reason the front creases in on my big toes as well causing irritation. Finally giving up on the Kayano after 4 pairs, maybe try Nirvana or Hurricane.

This was my second attempt with Kayano. I have run in many ASICS models but this model has very stiff heels. I could not feel any energy return and they really felt like bricks on the bottom of my feet. I tried several insoles to no avail. I tried Kayano again because of the gel expansion in this model but it bruised the bottom of my heels. I have switched to the Nike Equalon 2 and the difference is amazing. I am 210LBS and 25+ miles per week. Thanks RRS for the guarantee...loyalty is yours!

I've been running in Asics for the better part of 15 years, but returned this particular model twice (tried 2 different sizes to be sure) after major heel blisters! I wanted to rotate these with a pair of New Balance 767s purchased earlier this year. I finally purchased the 767 replacement model, the 787. No comparison for instant comfort and great cushioning support!

43 yr old. Neutral runner. No injuries. Eight-minute pace three days per week for about 5 miles. 180lbs. I have never had any problems with Asics, but this shoe is killing me after about one month. Shins hurt. Shoe feels like I'm running with boards on my feet, no give at all. Impact is worse than other Asics I've run in. Also, no take-off help either. I'm very disappointed in this shoe given its price. I've previously run in the GT's and the Nimbus. Nimbus was GREAT shoe and they're discontinuing it!

I have run in Kayano's for the last four years and this is my favorite so far. I was throughly unimpressed with the fit of the 13's, and 12's were great in my opinion but this shoe is leaps and bounds better than the 13. I love the fit of the heal and stability of the sole. After being a dedicated Kayano user, I've finally found a pair I can't wear. The 14's are a great looking shoe, but the heel is WAY too high up, which caused blisters on both my heels (never had blisters before). I don't feel as much cushioning in the forefoot, which caused some plantar pain. Good try Asics, but you need to go back to the drawing board with these.

Good Kayano, but not my favorite (liked the 12 best). The heel rides too high and during my first 3 weeks of running in these, had to tape my ankle. I'm 6'1" 225lbs with wide feet, and I find they have plenty of cushion, support, and they're not "bricks." My biggest complaint is the high heel.

Not a 13. The heel rides high, toe box is wider, which may be good for some. It does not have the snug fit like the 13's do. I managed a couple of shorter runs in them and a 17 miler. Went and bought my 3rd pair of 13's.

Long time Kayano user here. Worst iteration for me was the X and XIII. Best iteration I found was the XII due to the excellent snug fit and overall comfort. The XIII was sloppy loose fit similar to the X which I also did not like. The 14 has a much better fit over the 13, but is just as heavy and slow feeling. By the way, I have no probs with Solyte. Yes, Solyte is not a pillow soft cushiony ride, but it works well to disperse impact. e.g. The XII is my fave shoe with 400+ injury free miles (keep in mind that I only weigh 136 lb), still not retired. Have a pair of 14's in the rotation with no complaints so far after 70 miles. But opinions may change after 200 miles or so? Will let you know. Note that this is training shoe, people. Don't expect to race in this shoe.

I'm going out on a limb here and having worn a pair of these for about all of 10 minutes, I will say that the committee that designs these shoes is getting close to getting it right again(after some recent misfires) with the Kayano 14. It certainly is a better fitting, and better feeling show than the Kayano 12 (which had a much too low heel and last), and it is a better looking shoe than its immediate predecesor. The open mesh fabric is a nice touch, and it is a bit firmer in the midsole than the previous 2 years, but maybe this iodel will find some friends? Try them on and get your size right, too!
