Anyone remember the gold one back in 2002? Anyway, I have a huge bunion and despite that, the toe box is not too small. This is an awesome training shoe, hence the name-but not for more than say a half marathon. Best shoe for me, neutral foot, bunions and someone who likes stability but not heavy shoes.

Not as good as the 11, but they are the next best thing. The 11's were perfect! Like wearing a slipper. The tonge on the 13 tends to roll in, so you have to be sure they are good and flat when you put them on. Still wishing for the 11, until then, these will have to do.

I became a devoted DS Trainer 11 fan (best shoes ever!) after a struggle to find just the right shoe because I have a tendency to blister at the ends of my toes. They were soon replaced with the DS 13, which was awful, but I stuck with it. I have thrilled when they kinda of brought a bit of the DS 11 back in the 13, but they are still not quite the DS 11. However, these are still the best running shoes out there. I did have to go up two sizes to avoid the blisters at the toes. The DS Trainers are light, and provide just enough support for my gait. I set a PR at Boston in April in these shoes, and I adhere to the philosophy that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. There is NO perfect shoe. I have tried them all...Brooks, New Balance, Mizuno, Nike...and always end up right back to my trusty Asics!

these were the worst shoes i have ever purchased. I ran boston marathon in the nimbus 9, with a wider toe box and recently ran nyc marathon in these and had to slow down b/c of pain and when i took them off i had 8 blisters. not a good long distance shoe. Stick to 4-5M in these MAX.

I am disappointed in both the 12 and 13. Despite ordering a half size larger than I normally wear, these shoes hurt the edges of my toes. I ran a marathon in them and ended up with toes hurting. I wish I could get my hands on a 11.

Worst DS Trainer since it came out. I used to love these shoes and don't run in anything else. I bought the 13 and got blisters the first time I ran. It hurt my toes and the heal. It was not a great experience. I expect much more from this shoe that I used to love. I have to find a new pair to replace my old DS Trainers.

I stumbled across a pair of 11's and they were the best shoes I have ever owned. I ran my best marathon in them. The 12's were miserable, and I was eagerly waiting for the 13's. The 13's are everything you expect from Asics; I have never had problems with my toes feeling cramped, or the laces being weird. I stocked up and bought 4 pairs of these, just in case the 14s turn out to be duds.

I have run in DS Trainers since they came out in '97 and never had a problem with them until this update. Although the 13s look great, the offset seam on the outside of the toe chafes between my third and fourth toes causing blisters. Other than that, I like the shoe. The seam needs to be dealt with as many of the complaints here highlight the same problem.

i was hoping this shoe would bring back
the great features of the 11, but no such luck. i sized up and it still hurts my toes. the 11 was the greatest shoe ever, and these last two versions have been so disappointing by comparison.

I too am a fan of the 11s. I was bummed to find that the 12s had so many changes made to them and waited on the 13s to come out. They were still shorter than the 11s and I had to go up 1/2 size. Now the shoe felt too wide and loose in the heel. And my toes still took a beating from the changes made to the uppers. I returned the shoes and went back to Saucony after years with Asics. So long Asics!

Mon, March 03,2008:
I used the DS trainer 11 for interval training and racing. It was just the right level of cushion, stability, and fit. The 12 was not good at all for me. I was excited to see the 13 come out with some solutions to the problems of the 12. The biomorphic stretch on the toe box does not give as much as the 11 and the shoe is shorter than the other versions. So now I am in between a 7.5 and 8. The lacing system did not bother to much. I don't see why they can just bring back the 11.

Light and comfortable! I did have to go a 1/2 size up from my normal Asics size othwerwise my toes would have been squished. I love the colors and the new lacing design.

I can't stand this new update. The offset lacing system causes the upper to chafe the tops of my small toes. And something on the inside heel of the shoe presses in so tight it started causing pain. Definitely returning these.

Wow! what a wonderful update. It's light, fast and I like the new lacing system because it provides the fit that a performance trainer should have. Best shoe of '08 hands donw.
