I have wider feet so the narrower toe box is bothersome (I bought the 2e) and the heel does not feel as stable as the IV. Mainly though I don't like the feel of the shoe. The iv was very responsive. Hard to explain but it was such a nimble shoe and this one is just another shoe. It's all subjective but it made me switch to Brooks Dyad 4, which are far from responsive but the feet problems I have with 90% of the shoes, incl the 5 (not the 4) are not present in the Dyad. I should have stocked up on the 4's when I had a chance. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: i was sold these and am flat footed; i wont ever go to that store again; anyway, as i was saying , im bigger runner who is flat footed and a mild over pronator; my brother-inlaws wife is a podiatrist and has examined my gait while walking barefoot; she says i dont have motion control issues as my feet seem pretty stable when i walk (running could be diff story); any suggestions on a gppd running shoe? Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Great for long distance training - have worn through several 1/2 and full marathons.
Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: I've tried these on and they are too similar to the 4's for me, too much 'shoe'. I am a huge fan of the Landreth 3's, I bought many pairs and am able to get around 700 miles out of a pair. I don't understand what Asics is doing, the early Landreths were more of a light minimalist cushion shoe, now they have added more and more 'shoe' (and weight) ending up with a heavier model similar to other lines they already produce. They no longer offer a shoe that suits my needs. I have been a long time (and injury free) fan of Asics, but it looks like I will have to switch to another manufacturer. I'm still hoping they will go solyte with one of their mid-range neutral shoes and end up with something near a Landreth 3. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: I haven't actually run in these. I love the 4's and am considering these. I need a firm cushioned shoe. If any of the previous reviewers see this please let me know your opinion of the "cushioned firmness" of this shoe. Thanks. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Patrick...yes...the center of the sole is also wearing off on mine. Strange because it didn't happen to my IVs and I put 450 miles on them. Only have about 150 on this pair of V. Better fit than the IV though overall. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Not sure where all the negativity comes from. I've run in the original Landreth, the III, and now this. It's a very good shoe: nicely cushioned, well ventilated, pretty responsive (and I've been running in the Nike Frees of late). If you've liked previous incarnations of the Landreth, you should like this, too. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Tried this shoe vice my old Mizuno Wave Precision 8. 5'10", 185 lbs, 25+ miles a week. First run 7.5 miles was very good. Support and cushioning was adequate. I have a wide forefoot and a neutral gait. I bought the 10 EE and they fit perfect. The next day after the run though, I noticed a rub spot on the outside of my right foot just below the ankle. The heel cup comes up too high and rubs on my foot there. I'll give it another run to break in...but I'm not confident that it will go away. Other than the heel cup being too high...this is a good shoe for me. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Seems the fit, though wide is snugged up slightly from last year. A very smooth and stable ride but not as reponsive as the first two versions. The heel being lower than the other asics neutral shoes feels quite nice. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: I've run in the Landreths since the I. This shoe is not as good a shoe as the I or II, but it is better than any other shoe I've tried. It's a good cushioned trainer, but low-profile and flexible. I run about 50-70 mpw (depending on proximity to marathon season) and I weigh about 165. I run predominantly on sidewalks and asphault. Biggest drawback: I can only get 300 miles out of them, max. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: I really wanted to like this shoe. The fit is very comfortable, especially because of the fewer material overlays on the inside. I do like the L5 more than the other Solyte models, but it just doesn't cushion as well as the L2 Speva version. For more cushioning, the Cumulus 11 or Pulse are a better choice. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Does anybody have any problems with the middle of the sole being warn off? I am not sure if it is my running technique but it never happened before. Also, I had to add up my miles thinking I was close to 300 because the cushioning was getting bad ... I only have 143. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Wow, I have a wide forefoot and I thought the Landreth 5 was the widest shoe Asics ever made. It was so wide my foot slid around. Maybe I got an extra-wide size that was mislabeled. I hope the Landreth 5 isn't as grossly wide as the Landreth 4. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: The landreth 5 still wide enough but it is not the soft responsive landreth 1&2 or even 4 that were so comfy yet responsive and stable. The shoe has changed to a very firm neutral shoe for wide feet which I do not like as much as the 4. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Asics runner for 20 years...the Landreth 5 is totally disappointing compared to my 2 old pairs of orig Landreths. They feel flat, dead, and not like any shoe I've ever had from Asics. My 5 year old packed out pair felt better than these shoes ! Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Welcome back Landreth! If you liked the Landreth III, but was not impressed by the IV, you need to rethink the Landreth. I am 5'11'', 180 and bought 4 pair of the III. This model is back to a narrow toe box and a perfect fit for me. I didn't give it a 5 because the cushioning is not was it was. I am not sure if it is because the weather is so darn cold or that I am not running as smoothly as I use to (I didn't run for 4 months due to knee injury), but the IV feels a little stiffer then the III. Still a great shoe and will be a perfect one when I run under 3:00 in Boston 2010 (even if it takes me longer, It will still be a good shoe) Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: The landreth 5 is not as wide as the 4 but is still quite wide, similar to the 3. The midsole is very stable but also very firm. This is not the soft responsive landreth 1&2 that were so comfy yet responsive and stable. The shoe has changed to a very firm neutral shoe for wide feet. I thought solyte 45 lasting was supposed to be softer than the 55 and 65, yet asics motion control shoes are more cushioned. A disappointed x asics fan. Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: Dan Nichols SWEET RACING! Comments about Mens ASICS GEL-Landreth 5 Running Shoe: In my opinion this is the worst Landreth of the 5 versions I've run in. Heel stability is less, toe box feels like a boat and the medial heel reinforcement has given me blisters on both feet. I really don't like it ... quite a change from L4.
