I'm 6'1" and 165 lbs. I run around 60-70 miles a week. I have high arches and I underpronate a lot. These shoes are great if you weigh a lot or run a lot. Make sure you use the Shoe-Dog feature on this site to make sure you are actually in the neutral category or you will be hurting after about 100 miles. If you are serious about running you should get Superfeet or some other athletic insole because the ones that come with the shoe are horrible.

Absolutely the best shoe ever!! I have always been an Asics person and used to run in the Kayano's since 1996. I was told by a running buddy that the Nimbus was a better shoe, so , I finally bought the Nimbus 11 about seven months ago and I just purchased my second pair today. Great shoe . . . I am 6' and 196lbs under pronator. Really a good shoe. Can't say enough good things about this shoe. REALLY!!!!

I was 193 lbs (dropped 10 lbs since buying the shoes and running more), have high arches and roll outward (underpronate)severely. I have always had shin splints and tightness/soreness in my lower calf area. I have traditionally been a New Balance user and then decided to try something different because various insoles or orthotics weren't helping the pain go away. I bought the Nimbus 11's, coupled with SofSol insoles and love them. Had some hot spots and some foot numbness at first (not sure if that wasn't because of my body mechanics). I found new adidas socks that work great and all is well in my runs. I don't do long runs but, I try to run as often as possible. I have become a convert to Asics shoes. I am a freight train when I run (not graceful at all) and would highly recommend for heavier runners that need a lot of cushion.

I've always been an Asics wearer dating back to the early 90's. However, I've never been a serious runner until this year. This shoe is great for a neutral runner with a heavy heal strike. Cushioning is excellent. I switched out of this shoe to a Nike Zoom Triax 12 and, after three road races (2 5k's and one half marathon), came "running" back to the Nimbus 11. Only complaint is that they are worn out after 300+ miles. Having said that, I would gladly pay road runner $105.00 this week for another pair. If you need a wide toe box, good cushioning, and light on your feet, this is a great shoe, no doubt. Seriously, I am a salesperson worse nightmare. This shoe is solid.

I'm changing my July 3rd review (#38) from five stars to 4. Asics, you have the cushioning right, Finally. However, the tow box is too wide and the lacing system is a little weird; just go back to a standard lace. These broke down for me after about 250 miles. If given those minor tweaks, it would be a perfect shoe!

I bought the shoes trying to find a pair that helped with a lower leg injury that I was struggling with for about a year during which stability shoes were used. The shoes felt great and were cushioned quite nicely and even helped with one of my ailments, however, the outer heel sole wore thin very quickly with less than 140 miles on them. I'm going back to stability, but this time a stability plus shoe.

170, 5' 11 running 50 miles a week, I got these after putting 450 miles into a pair of 2140's and running a 3:25 marathon in them as well. I was excited to have kayano level gel in a lighter shoe... Instead I got a big blister on my back right heel, one under my left foot big toe, experienced subtle knee pain and more discomfort in my calves than ever before. I hate these shoes. HOWEVER, i do mildy overpronate and these are meant for neutral runners so maybe that was the bane of my problem more than the shoes. Either way I crawled back to my 2140's and have had no more issues at all. Back to BQ training.

I used to use the GT models for years then switched to when a sales person told i should be using them.. for my high arches..

Every new release since the 7 I have prayed that asics will fix the nimbus, and I am once again disappointed. dont get me wrong, the cushioning is the best there is. however. ventilation and weight continue to be a massive problem. the addition of more memory foam feels nice in the store and for the first few miles, but you feel the weight and heat during high intensity workouts in a big way. the nimbus needs to go on a diet and learn how to breathe to make it worth the price tag.

Great shoe. I switched to this shoe after trying the NB 1063 and it is perfect for this midfoot striker. The fit is much better for me than the 10 as I have a wide forefoot and narrow heel. The cushioning is softer than the 10 but still firm enough to provide some good stability in a neutral plus shoe. I had knee surgery a few months ago and I am slowly getting back into running and my legs felt great after the first run in these shoes.

I have been running for about 31 years, 25 of those as a Marine. I weight about 187 pounds, and I had a heck of a time finding a running shoe that was neutral/cushioned and didn't wear out in 60 days. I tried shoes from Nike, Brooks, New Balance, Reebok, Adidas, and other Asics shoes. I finally tried the Gel Nimbus in its first generation. I was sold. It is a great running shoe. I am pretty hard on running shoes, even after giving up triathlons, but the Gel Nimbus has never let me down. Since the first generation, it is the only shoe I run. If you are a heavy runner (180+ pounds) that doesn't pronate or supinate extremely, you would be hard pressed to find a better running shoe. If you have a neutral gate, this is definitely a great running shoe for you.

The Nimbus 11 is much better than the Nimbus 10. It is wider in the toe box and the offset lacing is not as drastic. As usual the Nimbus 11's cushioning is excellent! Unfortunately, the Nimbus 11 has issues with fit. This is not a shoe for orthotic wearers. The depth of the shoe is very shallow and the overlays are irritatingly restrictive. While the toebox is wide, the midfoot is slightly narrow. Also, the heel could be a tad more snug. With a few refinements the Nimbus could be the ultimate neutral shoe. Until then it gets a rating of 4.

Love, love, love this shoe! I had been a die-hard Nike fan, but I've converted! Fav details: laces along the contour of your foot (vs straight up the middle), solid support yet wonderful cushioning, great fit with roomy toe-box. Pricey, but worth it!

I am a big runner over 260+ and these do a great job of taking the stress off of my knees and feet. The sizing is tricky. My usual 10.5 resulted in mushrooming of my foot over the edge and heel pain. An 11 was a bit long yet fit nicely in the toe box and width. Have been using Asics since the Excaliber-GT days (1982)

i cant give a review yet because i ordered a 13 which is a half size up and it was too big i think this shoe is true to size so im returning it or my usual size 12 1/2. just trying the nimbus 11 on its got good toe room and alot of sturdy cushioning as well as alot of ventilation

This shoe is awesome! I am a service member serving in Iraq and love RRS because they ship here. I always wear Asics and the Gel Nimbus 11 doesn't dissapoint! I have bought the 10's and the 9's in the previous years and also own the Gel Kayano's but the Nimbus 11 is my favorite. The cusion and support are spot on and the shoe has a comfortable fit and feal to it. In addition, you can't beat the weight. Looking foward to returning home and running in the Wichita Marathon! Cheers all!!!!

A more "normal" look this year. The cush is a less mushy and more springy; the weight is less and the heel feels a bit more snug. The forefoot is perhap a wee bit wider. A very nice ride with no more "hey spiderman" calls.

After buying the 10 last year I felt that the Nimbus run of wearing the line whcih started with the Nimbus 7 was over, This shoe should have been the 10. The best running shoe I have even worn and the black/ grey has amazing looks. Takes the great styling of the Nimbus 8 and 9 with a better ride.

Why don't you make all colors the shoes in wide? Since I need 2E widths, all I can select are the very basic red or blue and white. I want other choices of colors.

the best nimbus ever!!! The cushioning is incredible and the shoe feels much lighter and less bloated then the 10. A great shoe for every neutral runner big or small.

Just checked out a pair. Asics really blinged out the design with action striping on the uppers and faux suede on the tongue. Super cushy ride, asymetrial lacing while not entirely gone, has become a lesser technological emphasis... Very stable base/platform felt a bit cloggy as I have become used to lightweight Triumph 6 from Saucony. But definitely on my short list as my next long run shoe.
