I agree with KJ. My first pair of Asics were the Landreth II's, and they had a great blend of foot support, cushioning, and comfort. They also felt very quick and the cushioning lasted a long time. The Pulse are very close to these, and maybe the Cumulus 11, but the Speva midsole of the Pulse just feels better, absorbing the impact of a neutral runner in a more efficient fashion (a quality the Solyte versions of the Landreth do not possess). I hope furture versions of the Pulse stay close to the original and the Landreth II's

When I started running distance races I was using Landreth II's and loved them. When the Landreth III's came out they fit me totally different and I started searching for a replacement. Those included: Landreth III, IV and V, Cumulus, Speedstar (which are pretty good), and Saucony Echelon. I believe the pulse is the closest shoe to the original Landreth with the Speva sole. I experienced virtually no blistering or foot discomfort during training for and completing my latest marathon. This seems to be a pure neutral shoe with a good balance between cushion and light weight. I hope Asics makes no changes to this shoe for a very long time. 5'11", 160lbs.

lack of arch support, need more arch support for long distance trainning.
cushion is not bad, toebox is wide.
but heel to toe transition is not soft.
speva midsole is good cushion,..
nike zoom skylon is more better than gel pulse . more lighter , more arch support , more cushion, more stable.

Amazing shoes! Especially for the price. The rear foot gel cushioning is just right, and the forefoot cushioning is impressive - better than other Asics with forefoot gel! I also really like the Speva midsole, as it retains very good cushioning on 15+mile runs, better than Solyte midsoles. This is my new marathon shoe too!

My 5 Star rating remains right on the mark! This is a neutral oriented shoe so do Not look for stability in the arch, heel or forefoot. Strictly nicely cushioned with excellent heel to toe transition. Excellent value!

Having logged some more miles, my old PF is flairing up. Could use some more archsupport after all.

185 lbs, high arches, 35 miles/week.
I had given up on ASICS years ago when their neutral trainers all became rigid stability shoes. The Pulse has won me back. The ride is soft, without being mushy. Their is some flex in the mid-foot which makes for a great transition, but the wide forefoot and deep heel keep the shoe feeling stable. A great bonus for me is that I don't need seem to need orthotics with the Pulse, lightening the shoe considerably. I found my new marathon shoe.

This, for me, is a top notch neutral trainer without all the expensive bella
& whistles of the Cumulus-11 or Nimbus-11. Solid cushioning (heel & forefoot)and a solid value as well!
