I've worn every version of the Kayano. The 16 may be the best fit for me; snug, narrow heel, stability (Conversely, the 17 was too large and too wide).My only complaint, and this has been true of most of the Kayanos, is that my toe wears a hole in the upper mesh of the toe box just before the reinforced area. A simple fix would be to extend the reinforcement a little.

Very glad I ordered a 4E. I generally wear an 11 2E in my shoes.
When I ordered these they were out of the 2E so I figured I'd try the 4E.
Well the 4E in the Kayano 16 is the same as a 2E in Brooks, NB, and Saucony as far as fit and feel go. I heard rumors that the Asics ran narrow.
Rest assured they are NOT RUMORS.

While the odd lacing/tongue pattern took a little getting used, I have to say I realy and truly Love these shoes.
I am an RN and on my feet 12 hours a night putting on up to 9 miles a night.
These shoes make it easily do-able.

I have worn every iteration of the Kayano starting back in the single digits. I have not had a foot, ankle or knee problem in 30+ marathons. I am a tall heavy plodding runner so I am very hard on shoes and my body.

I won't change shoes unless they price me out of them. I go through about 6 pairs a year, but have been able to mitigate the high price by buying classic's several pairs at a time when I find them.

I would recommend these shoes to people whose size or running style demands the ultimate shoe.

I'm 6'2" and about 240 lbs. This shoe is solid and comfortable which keeps me going. I just wish the sole lasted longer; the cushion out lives the sole.

The assemetrical lacing on the 16s is all that was needed to make this perfect.The 15s were OK as the lacing was not comfortable. Unbelieveable diffrerence.

I had recently been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis and the podiatrist recommended these shoes. I had taken a week off and then got back to my marathon training, these shoes have felt great, I haven't missed a step. The asymetrical laces at first take some getting used to, just turning your foot when you lace them is all the adjustment needed.

I use the Kayano shoes for training. They will last me an entire summer of pound and ground. I've run more than 30,000 miles in my lifetime.... and Asics are my # 1 choice.

I'm not a runner, I mainly use these as day-to-day comfortable shoes. The styling is nice, they are very comfortable. It's challenging to get used to the offset shoelaces - they feel a little weird and look stylish yet weird. Overall an extremely comfortable shoe.

This shoe's reputation is well-deserved. There is nothing finer for distance work on pavement or for clydesdales who have slight stability issues.

Shock absorption is superb. Comfort level is high from the moment of purchase to the moment when you have to take them out of your rotation. Response is outstanding. Flexibility isn't bad, either - for a stability shoe.

Durability is a little mixed, with the soles getting a little too flat a little too soon, and with the heel fabric being prone to premature tears. And it is, of course, heavy.

But it is also worth the money for those that wish to avoid the orthopedist

I have been running in Asics Kayano shoes for over 10 years. They are by far the best running shoe I have ever come across in 30 years of running. They are a quality, comfortable, supportive shoe. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants an outstanding running shoe.

I run 3 to 5 times a week anywhere from 2 to 5 miles at a time. I have worn this model of shoe for almost 10 years. I was a paratrooper in the Army, so I take my running shoe seriously and these shoes have treated my feet and knees wonderfully! I will never run in anything else. I add cushioning insoles as well for an excellent run every time!

The Asics GEL Kayano has continued to provide the comfort and support I seek year after year. I wear the shoes for running, basketball, and casually when I'm out and about. Being a bigger guy, 6'2" and 220 pounds, it's been hard to find a shoe that will provide comfort and take a beating. This shoe can and does. Although style isn't that important to me, the shoe is pleasing to the eye.

Great line of shoes for large men. They change them though every year and not all the changes are good. This model does not ventilate well with too little mesh and too much solid plastic on the upper. Bad blisters in hot even warm, humid, conditions.

I've worn ASICS exlusively since the early 80s.

I usually have 3 different models on the ready, depending on what kind of run I'm about to do. Long run, track work, recovery etc. I use my shoes only for running. For everyday walking around, I wear heavier, more supporive crosstrainers.

My current stable is the Nimbus, GT, DS Trainers, and the Kayano.

The 16 has the same narrow toe box and sock like fit that is the trademark of Asics. If you don't like a tight toe box, this shoe is not for you. Different widths give some options, but even the widest ascis is gonna be narrow to a guy coming from another brand.

I'm a asics guy, and Roadrunner is greatest source of Asics I know off. Local stores are just not gonna carry the high end ASICS I demand.

I've done business with RR since the days of Mike's garage. A great company.

Good, ugly shoe that has good stability and cushioning, but the heal padding broke down quickly. Had same problem with differnt Asics or recent. Must be a new design. It's not chafing yet so I am still putting on the miles, but the day is coming, which is unfortunate as, except for the dull gray color scheme, I like the shoe

I was able to put 350 good miles on a pair of these shoes, but that was only because I bought 2 pairs and rotated them daily.

The only bad thing was they were one of the worst shoes i'm ever had for running in the winter. While nothing is great on icy roads these were way worse than just about anything else i've ever worn!
