Im a long distance runner. I use these shoes for my distance training. Im disappointed with the way they have held up. I have had 5 pairs of the kinsei (1,2,3,3,4). The previous versions are great, I would get apx. 1500 miles (yep) before they would wearout, but with the kinsei 4 I only got 650 miles. I know its time to get new shoes when my calves start to hurt (thats the way its always been). I love to run in the kinsei (except for speedwork) but I am disappointed in how the kinsei held up to the mileage. I will buy another pair because they are so comfortable but they are not as durable as I the kinsei 1,2,or 3.

not a bad product

I bought the Kinsei 4 because the following reasons: I had the Kinsei 2 (not a bad product, I prefer the Kayano) and I love the wild and cool looking colors on them. I would say they are a bit better than average when it comes to cushioning and stability. I tip the scales at 160 lbs, so I am not that heavy of a runner. I run about 6 miles 5 to 6 times a week. They felt average, but again the Mosaic model (wild and cool colors) sold be on first look. I have been wearing Asics for the last 10 years or so, I used to be a Nike person, not no more. For Asics I prefer the Kayano's and the Nimbus. Currently I also have the Nimbus 14 and they, to me, feel better than the Kinsei 4.

Worth every penny

Let me start by saying I am a Brooks and Mizuno fan. I also want to say I am an average guy who likes to run and work out whenever I can. This is my first pair of Asics and came to me as a suggestion from a friend at the Vegas Half.
I was running in a pair of Brooks Glycerine 10's, also a great shoe. To be honest, these smoke those in every way. They are lighter, breathe better and just feel faster. I have been a long time fan of the Mizuno wave creation, but these are right on par with those. If you are looking to try a new shoe, this one will not upset you in any way!

Very comfortable

I have been a loyal Nike Vomero series user since the Vomero +4. The Vomero +7 however, were a major disappointment mainly because of a very uncomfortable insole. I decided to try the Asics Kinsei. The insole of this shoe is extremely comfortable, out of this world. The midsole provides good cushioning. A major disappointment is the lack of heel cushioning, it does not come even close to the Vomero. The Kinsei is a great shoe but highly overpriced. If Asics could manufacture the Kinsei with the Vomero heel cushioning and at a lower price, it would be an instant success.

Finally Worth The Money

The Gel Nimbus is my shoe, but occasionally I want to try something else out. Previous versions of the Kinsei and Kinetic showed promise particularly with wear, but still didn't deliver as plush a ride as the Nimbus. This shoe is lighter than the last versions, and provides a very comfortable, stable feel with a roomy toe box. I'm working it into the daily rotation and have run everything from tempo (sixes) to easy (eights) and looking forward to the next 600 miles or so.

Not as expected

Longtime wearer of Nimbus so I decided to try the top of the line Kinsei. 25+ miles per week. These are just plain uncomfortable. Calves hurt terrible after runs of 3,8 and a grueling 16 miler. Very disappointed in the cushioning of this shoe, more money doesn't mean more cushioning. Really wanted to like these, but I'll just return to my nimbus. Biggest plus was the color scheme!

I use this for running once or twice in a week and the first run itself was great. I ran 8 miles for the first time and I believe these shoes was a big reason behind it. I usually feel pain in my lower leg but these shoes provides a lot of support an cushion. Completely in love with these.

Second Pair Fit Tight

Have bought 2 pairs of these Kinsei....the first I loved and continue to wear. The second pair, same model, fits tight in the width for some reason. I tried to break them in and see if they would loosen up and they have not....returning for refund.

Kinsei is SO much better than Nimbus 14

Nice toe box, excellent cushioning and great fit.
Had to try Kinsei after marathon training with Nimbus 14. Very comfortable, like the older Nimbus. Well worth the price for longer distance running on pavement.
