Love these shoes. Seven months ago I started doing triathlons. As my mileage increased I started feeling the hip and knee joints ache. I thought I just needed conditioning but learned that the proper shoes would help solve my joint issues. I am 41 years old, 5' 10", weigh 180lbs, and have low arches with some over pronation when I run. These shoes relieved the pain that onset as I ran over 7 miles. They are comfortable, smooth, and seem to provide control for my pronation.

Switched out from the Kayano a couple of years ago and went with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS and the Asics Gel Evolution as I was trying to cut down on cost. Have been training for a half marathon and was becoming discouraged with my ability to go for long training runs. Both other shoes were heavier shoes, which probably aided to the lack of extended endurance. Went back to the Kayano two weeks ago and am amazed at the change! These shoes are light, full of cushion in the heel, and extremely comfortable. I am easily running 6-10 mile runs now and am encouraged for the half! I literally cannot wait to put these shoes on every day and go for a great run. I am sold on the Kayano 18-great shoe!!

Have been using the Asics Kayano since the 10th edition....and currently have 2 pairs of the 17's...with the new 18's (White and blue color)...I did 8 miles right out of the box....no slippage or blisters....felt pretty good....nice stable stance with them....was noticeably lighter than last years model...they should feel even better as the miles break them in....will gave an update later.

Just got the Kayano 18 to replace my Kayano 16. So far I like the 18's. the best thing for me is Asics got rid of the asymmetrical lacing system, I like the straight system better. I find the 18's be very easy on the feet and joints. Nice "ride", very well cushioned. If you like the Kayano's, give these a try...but man, they're spendy. I don't know how much more people will pay for their running shoes. At [$] list, this has to be where it ends. If I ran more, I'd have to look for a cheaper option.

I run about 17 miles a week and love Gel Kanyo shoes the 17,s and 18 are great i love the 18 being the same just lighter.keep up the good job do not change to much more this shoe is GREAT!

Lighter than previous models, feels comfortable on the feet, good cush ( let's see how long this lasts!), but I am not crazy abouit the cosmetics of the upper--which are simplified from earlier models ( that's good!) but now seem a bit odd ( that's bad) Not crazy about the external heel cup--howe 80's!-- seems pointless, no one else does this, do they? Are we reaching a price point where shoes like this may be pricing themselves out of the market? Buy on sale or where discounts are available, such as VIP club.

I run the roads and the trails and know from experience that this is the shoe for the roads. The Kayano 18 is cushy. My first run with them on the track felt amazing. They are lighter. No more clunky heaviness like the 17's had. These also have more cushion in the midsole that you will notice and appreciate right away. This is going to be a repeat buy for me when it comes time to buy a new pair. I could not be happier with these. If you are looking for an upgrade to your 17's you won't be sorry.

This shoe just came out most vendors don't even have it in inventory yet. This shoe has to be compared to it's predecessor the Kayano 17. The 17 was my go to shoe and it stayed in good condition until the inner liner along the heel cup wore out and that started to irritate my heel. The liner in this shoe is similar but I bought this one in D instead of EE. That should limit any heel slip and put less wear on the liner. This incarnation (18) is much better and lighter. It has a lower profile and the heel has an external heel cup which I really like. The Duomax insole is more responsive and the whole shoe transitions nicely from heel to toe. Material on the outside are top notch as in the 17's. Cushioning is also a notch upwards. It now rivals my favorite cushioning shoe the Nike air max 2011. It a better looking shoe all around. In short this will be my go to shoe as long as it lasts.

I love the new 18's I have put roughly 65 miles on them so far and they feel more cushioned than the 17's. I am a heavy runner, 200lbs, so I need the support and love the cushion of the Kayaono's. I have been wearing the Kayano's since the 15's and these are my favorite by far. They feel great!

I use the Asics Kayanos a few times a week. Really good, comfortable shoes. Lightweight considering the really good cushioning.

Great shoe. Good padding (a must for me) and comfortable for workouts.

In "wide" sizes, these seem to run larger than most: normally, I'm 8-1/2 4E, but in this shoe, 2E would have been just right.

I hate how the Kayano can change so much between models because some were really bad. After about 75 miles I can safely say the 18 is pretty good. I went through 11 pairs of the XI because it got classic status and was available. When it finally went away I tried the successor (don't remember which version that was) and hated it. I ran in mizunos for awhile as a result. This is probably the best since the XI and I'd be happy if this model could hang around for awhile. If it proves to be durable, it's a 5 star but its just too soon to tell.

I have always bought the Asics Nimbus and thought buying the next grade up would be a nice change. The left front side of the shoe digs into my toes from the shoe design. I had them on after a round of golf and they made my feet hurt. The $50. golf shoes were more comfortable. Yesterday I ordered the Nimbus. Guess I should have stuck with what worked.

Second pair of the Kayanos: first pair were the Kayano 16's. Love both the cushioning and support these shoes provide, BUT the "anatomical lacing system" means the laces rub against the metatarsal condyle near the phalange of the great toe. It rubs you big toe's knuckle and is very irritating over time. Hardly wear the Kayano 16's and thought they had changed the design for the 18's, but sent them back upon finding Asics kept the same design and it was still uncomfortable. I will say though, my big toe knuckle is larger than average due to breaking it multiple times.

I run about 20 miles over 5-6 days per week. I have run in Brooks Adrenalines for the last 10 years and was happy. I decided to try these because I match the guideline that says to use a Stability+ shoe. The shoe feels heavy when I run. The cushioning is effective. I'm using this for an everyday shoe, but not a running shoe. I'm now running in the Brooks Trance. In summary, for running, I prefer the Brooks Trance best, then the Brooks Adrenaline, and the Asics Kayano for everday wearing.

The Asics Kayano 18's are by far the best shoe i've run in so far. I run up to an excess of 60 miles per week for cross country training and up to 40-50 per week for track training. These shoes are very durable, i ran my first pair to 750 miles and i'm currently at 650-ish miles with the pair i currently own. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone. Let it be known that i have rather low arches but my teammate, who runs just as much as i do, has much higher arches and felt no pain with the 18's.
