        Comments about Mens ASICS GT-2170 Trail Trail Running Shoe:

        I've only used them for 2 hill runs so far and am very stoked. My previous Brooks had so much toe-box room that I risked twisting an ankle due to all the sloshing around of my foot. The GT feels so much better and safer. Can't wait to put them to a real test in the Grand Canyon this weekend. (16 miles. S. Kaibab down, Bright Angel back up)
        p.s. My everyday gym and street runners for the last several years have been the Kayano's which I love. (I think the GT is modeled after them). The one con about the Kayano's is that my big toe wears a hole in the upper mesh way before the shoe needs to be replaced. I'm hoping that this doesn't happen with my new favorite trail shoes

            These are my everyday shoes. I don't wear them to the gym, but I could. I use them mostly for hiking around town or on the trails. I'm all about comfort and support and these provide both. I love these shoes so much, I've even thought about buying another pair to store in my closet for when I need a replacement pair, because I'm afraid they'll discontinue this model or not make them exactly the same. I'm only writing this review to encourage people to buy them so they become a best seller and continue to make them. I was hesitant to do so, because I don't want people to jock my style, but I gotta show love for these Asics.

              Here is what you need to know about these shoes if you are a trail runner. The shoe performs nicely up hills and really helps you dig in deep when you need to. The cornering with these shoes is nice, and you will feel them lock down on narrow straights when you need to be extra careful on the trail. The shoe does take some time to break in because they are beefy. They really do have grit and feel firm when you are out there pounding the dirt. The support and cushioning is really nice. Asics did a wonderful job making a shoe that feels as soft and airy as the Kayano 18, but in trail ready form. The only other shoe I could compare to this is the Asics Trail Sensor 4 which more of an aggressive trail rider. This is not as aggressive of a shoe as the Trail Sensor Series, but I like the 2170 better because of the road running that I do to and from the trail head is a lot more comfortable in these shoes. If you are a VIP just try them out and see. They are good looking and seem to be getting better with every trail run.
