I've had them for about 2 weeks now. They feel quicker in transition than the 5's. I didn't care for the toe box/top of the lacing area in the 5's as the eyelets didn't go down far enough towards the front of the shoe. These are perfect.

Great update to the 5. Snugger fit in the forefoot area. I just got them yesterday and did my first run today in them today--really impressed. I mostly do short distance, 5Ks and do sprint work at the track. 6'3", 180lbs and neutral gait.

I usually use this shoe for shorter, faster runs. However, I have also run numerous marathons in the various Speedstar incarnations. The Speedstar 6 seems very similar to the previous versions which is welcome to me. I use other shoes for longer training runs because the Speedstar can be a bit hard on the forefoot. It is a great shoe.

Among other things that have been noted in reviews, they changed the lacing system to a much shorter, much flatter lace. Honestly, I can't wear them in races because I can't keep the laced tied securely. I predict that they will change back for the next model.

I am a competitive racer and consistent age group winner (70+), training about 45-50 miles a week, and this is an excellent shoe for me, light enough to feel swift but still a tad of cushioning to avoid injury. I have been running in Asics for decades, but I love the Speedstars.

I've been in Speedstars for several years now and have been mostly happy. The previous version of the Speedstars cut into my toes, but beyond that, it's been a great lightweight trainer. I'm not terribly big (5'6", 148) but I'm not lithe like the typical fast runner.

I purchased these shoes back in the fall. I tested them out in some workouts and found them to fit very well. They are surprisingly cushioning for a shoe this light. In addition, they've held up much longer than I expected.

I ended up racing my fall marathon in them, a risky move on my part since I typically race in trainers. I was please with their overall performance as they led me to a big PR without issue.

The unfortunate thing is that I think ASICS is discontinuing this shoe. I hope it's not true, or that they reconsider.

I'm a high school cc/t&f athlete and used the previous models for my trainers. I did a lot of speed work and a lot of 5-7 mile runs in them, and I loved the previous models, especially the 5's. I have been wearing them since the 3's, which I used as a freshman and was excited for the 6th model. I have been training in them since the middle of my cross country season and they are terrible. Asics made too many changes and they just don't feel the same. I will not buy another model of Speedstars unless they are changed back to the way they made the first 5.

I have used the Speedstar since the bright yellow ones (version 2, I think) and I am loyal to this shoe. The speedstar 6 promised to be a great shoe because the fit was perfect (I buy a size larger than my street shoe). Everything is perfect about these shoes except that I just finished a 20 miler on them (maybe the 6th time I've worn them and have fewer than 80 miles on them) and the heel is worn all the way down. Stick with the v5 or wait until the next version comes out. For me, these shoes come out at too much per mile.

Wanted to use this shoe as a trainer for tempo runs but after a 1 mile test ride I can feel that the mid foot strike has little cushion and believe they built this shoe for a heel strike to mid foot take off. Returning before I end up getting hurt.

I've worn Speedstars since the wild black & gold ones (2s or3s)--and loved them. The older models were primarily track & short race & triathlon shoes for me. As ASICS added a little cushioning and structure I was able to use them to race from 5k to Marathon-as well as on the track for intervals. It's been my "go to" shoe" for years!

I ordered the "6s" as soon as they was available-hoping to use them for my first race this year in early February. They were delayed-so I used my old standby 5s instead.

When I finally received the 6s I thought I had received the wrong shoe! Nothing about it resembled the earlier models. It felt cheap, stiff, and at a least for me, not suited for anything--much less continuing to be my go to shoe.

I tried it for three runs of varying distances and paces (5 miles @ 7:45-8; 8 miles @ 7:30; 10 miles mixed easy & intervals); I couldn't wait to get them off of my feet! Poor response. Clumsy feeling. Way too stiff.

I was--and remain so disappointed. Luckily I stocked up on the 5s and have one pair left to use while I experiment with replacement "go to" shoes. Right now the Adidas Boston is the No.1 contender since I just ran Boston in them.. but I am still looking for something that works as well as my Speedstar 5s. Sure was nice not to have to worry about shoes on race day!

I sincerely hope ASICS goes back to the old drawing board for the Speedstar 7. Until then.. if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations for a good, all-purpose training/racing shoe..please let me know!
(I am 6'2, 160 lbs. Normal to slightly flat arches, running now in The Adidas Boston, Brooks Ghosts, Brooks Pure Flow and NB 890s)
