I have had problem to find a pair of trail running shoes. Since I am using orthodics, I prefer lightweight shoes but most of trail shoes are very heavy (at least 10 OZ)so when I found this Asics gel Fuji racer, I already felt in love with its description, wow...only 7.0 oz/size 8! I even ordered them before they was born on 2/6/2012 with the hope that I could be able to go on the trail and run 22 miles without killing my calf muscles the next day. Fortunately, my dream comes true, the moment I open the box, I am so impressed with the purple color, at least they won't bore me to death like other trail shoes just only black and gray.

The next day I went on trail and ran 22 miles without breaking them in and I have been run on them 3X of a 22 miles and 2X of a 14 miles. Here are what I experience with this Fuji racer shoes:

1. very lightweight, very comfortable
2. feel very strong and very supportive
3. Very stable on every strike and tend to support more on front feet
4. Narrow on the arch that hold your feet avoiding over pronation.
5. Breathable and soft as you still feel the cushion support when landing on trail.
6. toe box is wider that helps preventing blister.
7. you will feel it if you step on big rocks (about 2 inches)
8. after 22 mile run, I recover the next day by wearing these shoes.
9. I am not sure how long they last but very confident that they last at least 365 miles.
10. I am 5'3 and 110 lbs so these shoes fit great for me. You just have to go up 1/2 size of your regular size.

Perfect for running on mixed terrain - particularly a mix between sidewalk/road and unpaved trails (Washington, DC). Lightweight, low heel-to-toe strike, roomy toe box.

This is definitely my all-time favorite trail shoe ever! It's light while being protective - the perfect balance. I feel nimble on trails, with just right flexibility and cushioning, but not so much that it's uncomfortable if I step on a rock or sticks. I like the drainage holes through the bottom - really great during warmer weather. Lots of little deatils that make the difference - rock plate, lace pocket, firmer toe bumper - really make this something special. Sweet colors too!

Just got these and tried them on. Jogged a bit on the treadmill. Will use these shoes to trail run over loose granite pebbles, large rocks, and roots (Colo Spgs, CO has a plethera of different trail types). My first impression is that they are somewhat narrow, as they fit my very skinny, high arched feet perfectly. The heel cup fits like a glove - I've never had a pair of shoes that fit this well in the heel. You DO have to size up 1/2 size. I usually wear an 8.5 (9 in Reebok Realflex), and I ordered a 9, which fits perfectly. They are stiffer than my Realflex, but it should be good for trail running since my Realflex are not for the weak-ankled on trails! These shoes are somewhat minimalist in that the heel does not sit up as high as a normal shoe. They are fine for those who land mid-foot, but they might not be great for heel strikers. The cushioning is great for semi-minimalists (may be too much for those who like the Vibram 5 Fingers), but probably not cushiony enough for those who are looking for a traditional running shoe or again, those who are heel strikers. These shoes are VERY lightweight. The little bit that I jogged, I had the feeling that my feet had wings!

Conclusion:
I'm a mid-foot striker who was looking for a somewhat minimalist shoe for trail running. I have narrow feet and high arches. I think I've found myself the perfect shoe!

May update this review if I find something bad about them after trail running over the next week or so, but I don't anticipate it.

Use for obstacle racing. Worked great didn't hold water and mud in.Traction was great. Great with my road dog inserts.

Very impressed with this shoe in the first mile of my run. They are very light weight, yet have great cushioning for rough terrain. These shoes are too cool looking to run through mud with, but I quessi can always buy another pair!
