I'm pleased with the improvements ASICS has made to the GT-2000 over its previous model. The added Gel cushioning system keeps my foot in place during my long runs. The look and general feel are the same, but the added technology improves the overall feel and support of the ride. Great shoe.

I love these shoes. I have higher arches and need a stability shoe due to my instep. I wear down the middle padding in the sole, so I needed something with great arch support, lightweight, and good for running regularly.

These are perfect. I am used to minimus shoes so these were slightly heavier than I am used to. Very comfortable and does the trick for anyone trying to take their run to 5 miles and up.

This shoe is not comfortable at all. With the Gt2170 I could put them on right out of the box and feel really comfortable. I wear size 8 4E, I walk and run daily.
The tongue seems to be thicker on the inside right above the toes, causing me pain after about 30 minutes.

I have had these shoes for a few weeks. Prior to buying the shoes, I couldn't even run a mile before my knee would hurt and I would have to stop running. Now, I am up to over 3 miles each run and building up to higher mileage. I stopped in to Road Runner and was fitted to this shoe type because, as it turns out, I have a high arch and a running style that put pressure on my knee that caused the IT Band Syndrome. I have combined these shoes with the custom orthotic and an IT Band Compression Wrap and have been pain free and looking forward to building my mileage up again (I have barely run in the past 15 months because of the discomfort in my knee.)

Outstanding shoe. I switched from the Nimbus series as I started training for my first marathon. I wore the Nimbus series for years through multiple races and a half marathon. Then I did a gait analysis and found out that I pronated to much and I should switch shoes. I didn't have the knee pain or shin splints anymore even when I got into the 15 mile plus runs.

I have bought 3 more pairs because of great sales on RRS. So I know that I am good to go for the next year plus.

I have been wearing the ASIC GT 2150s, 2160s and 2170s. I've also used the Saucony Pro Grid Guide which is very similar to the 2170s. ASICS says that these are a replacement for the 2170s, but I think they missed the boat on it. The 2170s had considerable dense foam around the medial post that provided firm support in the arch area. The 2000s do not have that dense foam so the arch support isn't what it was in the 2170s.

This isn't a terrible shoe, but it definitely is not the 2170. This feels closer to a neutral cushioned shoe than it does a stability shoe. Would I recommend it to a friend? It would depend if it fit their running style.

I bought the shoes because of knee pain and I am very greatful I did. I am training for the Zombie Run in June and was pretty sure I would be dropping out because of the knee pain. Now that I have the new shoes with the inserts I am running several times a week and all I can say is bring on the Zombies.

I got these to replace a long string of great GT-2160s (6 pairs). I tried a pair of GT-2170s, but they never fit right around my ankle so I jumped to the GT-2000.

Seemed OK at first - albeit very little cushioning under-foot, and the toe-box is WAY too big. But less than 200 miles in, I have worn through the heel. I change shoes religiously at 400 miles, and I have never even come close to this with any shoes before. Worse, I've developed runner's knee (first in one knee, then in both) over a month and a half of running on these. In 10 years of running I've never had this problem before, but my doc, online research, and the "Runner's Repair Manual" all say that it's likely from poor support from the shoe. Which is also what I'm feeling - flat, hard, poor support, poor cusioning. So these are going in the trash, and I'm looking for a new shoe. With the resulting injury, it's even worse than just a waste of money.

This is a great running shoe, I am an experienced runner and I know you shouldn't do this but I pulled these shoes out of the box and ran a PR in the half marathon in them with no issues at all. Great shoe!

Ordered a 2E in size 10.5. Measured it against the 2E I had from its predecessor GT2170. GT2000 IS ALMOST 3/4" NARROWER at the widest point. DO NOT TRUST the sizing..

I have been running in ASICS for about 10 years now, and this is the worst shoe I have used from them. The shoe has no support or cushion, and your foot feels very loose. The mesh they use on the top and sides of the shoe seems to stretch, allowing your foot to move. Cant wait for the next model.

Have been wearing the asics gt-21xx line for 5 years now. The 2000s are noticeably lighter, but at the expense of my poor feet! I hated them on my first run...the impact on the forefoot area was jarring. I have been a fan of this line, so I continued to work out in them. In the end, they were not bad. But, I had become accustomed to the softer ride of the prior models, so, I moved on to a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS13s.

BUY A HALF SIZE UP. I have worn size 12 in the 21XX (and the 16XX and 17XX) for years. I had to return it for a 12.5.

The 2170 in my opinion went the wrong direction...a more prominent heel right when other shoes were trending towards minimal or natural running. It was so much so that I almost disliked the shoe compared to the 2160. If you are a mid or forefoot runner, this is a great shoe. It has less cushioning overall than the 2170. If you are heavier or a heel striker who needs more cushion you might want to look elsewhere.
