The GT-1000 is a good, less expensive alternative to the GT-2000. I run 30-40 miles a week, so I go through shoes quickly. I find I get almost the same cushioning and support in these shoes as I did in the GT-2170s (now the GT-2000s) for a cheaper price tag. The look of the shoe has changed a little from the previous version, but I like the new colors and style.

I use to only run in Pumas but now I'm on my second pair of Ascics I can't go back. I'm a avid runner/ marathoner and these truly are the best shoes for running.

Very good front cushion helps on downhill run a lot.
In general musch better cushioning than other products in similar price range.
Bit ugly design and color... says my wife!

I bought these because I had worn out my other pair and needed some for marathon training. These shoes fit the bill as you couldn't beat the price. They are not my ideal show but they worked well in a money pinch.

This Asics is my current favorite shoe. I started with the Asics 1150 and the 2150. Like the way this shoe fits compared to the 2000 series. I am on the light side so these shoes work for me.

I am 6'2" 190 lbs and the cushion was sub standard for my size IMO. These shoes felt quite light and fast, but cheap.If you are a 150 pounder or so with normal arched this may be your shoe. I am disapointed is not mine.

I always buy running shoes 1/2 size up and these worked just the same. I bought the Pink version in support of Breast Cancer awareness. It felt good to know part of proceeds went to support Breast Cancer and did not cost extra. I used these in a Half Marathon this past weekend and they were great on my feet and I set a PR in them. They felt lighter than I expected, I was able to consistently increase my pace during the event and I had no problems with pain or blisters.

I will also say, that regardless of my own better judgement, I received this pair 2 days before my event. I know not to run in untried equipment for a race, but I had no choice and wanted to show my support. That being said, I did try them on a treadmill for about 2 miles before the event. After 2 miles into the event, they already felt like a part of my foot and I didn't notice them at all the rest of the event.

I use Orthotics and my main issue is Metatarsalgia. I look for extra good support and cushioning therefore in the forefoot. I can honestly say that after 13.1 miles, I had no problem with pain. In recent weeks I have had to return several other pairs of shoes I tried that caused pain after 3-5 miles.

These provided great cushion, support and my stride was incredible. It also helped with my knees and hips that have started to give me some pain after running. After running in these I feel confident to say that they provide the appropriate level of control as well.

Overall, I was very impressed with this shoe and will use if for daily training. I think I have found a new shoe after years of running in another brand. Not ready to give up on my other brand yet, but these may convince me.

This update is Not of the Asics 2170 but it is the update of the Asics 1170. A bit heavier (11.2 0z.) and they have made the forefoot Gel unit smaller. Good heel cushioning, but I did Not like the firmer feel to the forefoot and sent tnem back to the Online retailer! Will consider the new GT-2000 later.. Also, I did Not think the $10 increase was justified with few real changes!
