    Good trail shoe

    This is a great trail running shoe. ASICS never dissapoints, and the GT-2000 Trail is no different. These shoes are sturdy enough to trek through rocky terrain but light enough to keep me moving at top speed. I even wear these shoes out on normal days. Great purchase.

        Great trail shoe! I put over 24 miles on them the first 3 days I had them and walked 3 rounds of golf in them. I run in the Mojave desert and they did fantastic going up or down the rocky sandy trails. I needed to tighten the toe box a bit and use a heal lock lace up so my foot wouldn't push forward during some of the severe downhills, but that's not unique to this shoe. I'm an avid trail runner including ultra distances. I've been running in Asics since about 1977, they just fit me well. I wore Injini socks layered with Inov8 gaiters to keep rocks out.

            I've been in Asics for more than 20 years now. And the fit is as good now as it has ever been. I have never had to break in Asics shoes and this pair is no different. I run/walk/hike about six miles or more each day and have never had a foot problem with Asics shoes. My aging right knee, however, is another story, but that isn't the fault of the shoes.

            These are a great shoe on rugged terrain that is either climbing or descending. I do not recommend them on flat, packed trails. I say this because of my last 100 mile ultra that was on flat, packed trails. I trained with these in agressive hills and they exceeded my expectations so I assumed they would be fine on the flats. I ended up with 13 blisters, some on top of others, and 3 lost toe nails. But if you take these on a 30 mile rugged and unforgiving run, your feet will thank you at the end. I did note they wear quickly, but that's only on paved surfaced. For the record, I am and avid ultrarunner of 50 and 100 mile races. Their next test is the Zion 100 in Utah!

              Great fit and nice trail performance. I wear Kayanos for my regular running shoe. I prefer stability plus for the cushioning (200 lbs) but these work well for runs and hikes of an hour or two. Very comfortable over rocks and roots. Have a light feel. Maybe just a bit more snug than Kayanos. Will buy again.

              Sending these back. They are much different from the GT-2170s. The toebox and lacing doesn't provide enough room. I finally gave in on a long run when my feet so bad I had to stop.
