Tried these shoes out this morning for a 10 mile run. I bought these to replace the Gel-Evolution, which was discontinued. I found the shoes to be rigid, unresponsive, having very little cushion, and even to slip a little on my heels (never had an Asics do that!). They were kinda like strapping boards to my feet! I wear motion-control shoes for long runs because my feet will fatigue causing my arches to fall. I'm hoping that cushion insoles will make these shoes wearable. I will not buy the Forte again. I don't know what I'll get to replace them.

Asics needs to go back to the Gel design product, what were they thinking. This shoe is terrible after having worn Asics shoes for 15 years. Gotta go to another company.

Very good looking motion control shoe. A bit bulky but understandably so. Slightly noisy when running though.

I walk approximately 3 miles per day and was looking for an alternative to the Brooks Beast 12. These shoes look great and feel significantly lighter than the Beast BUT...they don't have near the cushioning in the heal. I am heavy and need all this I can get. I'll go back to the Beast.

No cushioning...no arch support...and very stiff. I've tried to give the shoe the benefit of the doubt, but it is a pathetic replacement. It is like running with planks of wood! This new "attempt" at updating the solid Foundation series has prompted me to write my first customer review. If ASICS remains with the decision to keep the Foundation out...then I'm out.

This shoe is Asics absolute worst attempt at a motion control shoe. The shoe is extremely stiff with no give. Imagine tying a couple of 2 by 4s to your feet. These shoes are going back. And I am returning to the Brooks Beast.

I am shocked that Asics would sell such a horrible shoe. The shoe was incredibly uncomfortable and lacked sufficient cushioning. The material is incredibly cheap --- very thin compared to prior Foundation. This purchase has severely tarnished my view of Asics, which I have been using for 20 years.

I was excited to try the lighter weight replacement to the Evolution 6. While there are aspects of the shoe I liked, the stiffness of these shoes on the base is pretty extreme, noticeable even after I'd put 250+ miles in them. I started having a lot of high achilles lower calf soreness after running in these shoes.

For background, I run > 2000 miles a year, weight 170 lbs, have very flat arches. I have avoided injuries the last several years and probably did about 80% of my training in the Evolution 6 model. It's a pity because I have been rolling in the Evolution line a long time but now feel compelled to switch to another brand.

This is by far the most uncomfortable and hardest of all Asics Motion Control shoes that I have ever used. The material is essentially non-breathable, the cushioning and sole are basically rock hard, and it doesn't flex that well.

I will have to return these and just purchase a pair of the Kayano's and wait it out until Asics realizes that the Evolutions & Foundations did work very well with their buyers.

I'm really pretty pleased with these shoes. I've worn both ASICS motion control and motion control plus varieties in the past, and this shoe is definitely lighter than the previous "plus" version, while still providing more support than the regular motion control. Admittedly, I run for exercise and the mental benefits these days rather than for speed or distance, so I can't say how these shoes would feel doing more than a 5k in them. And as others have said, their soles are weirdly stiff! But they also seem quite durable, which is good, as I've found previous ASICS soles so soft that they wear quite quickly.

I am very disappointed that ASICS has ended the Gel-Foundation for the new Gel-Forte. I have been running in the Foundations for many years and they were a great shoe. The jury is still out on the replacement Forte.

I am an Asics boy for more than 20 years. I love the Gel Kayano and the Evolution. However, this new shoe is really bad. Although light, it is super stiff and I feel almost no cushioning at all. It is like running with a brick.

If you are a heavy pronator go with the Evolution. If you are a moderate pronator go with the Gel Kayano.
The Gel Forte is simply a very bad running shoe.

The guy who had to take his shoes off during a 10k is obviously looking for something to blame his runner's rut on. I picked up a pair of these (always Asics Gel Evolution or Brooks Addicition guy) becuase of their lighter weight characteristics.I have new PRs in 26.2, 13.1 and weekly mileage on these bad boys, and most importantly, injury free (knock on wood). I'm pushing 50-60 miles per week in these and can't wait for Asics' next edition. PLEASE ASICS don't stop making lightweight motion control plus shoes. Guys like me need em. And as for the "clopping" noise - yeah that's weird but who really cares??

I was looking forward to this new asics running shoe. I weigh 205 and have flat archs, but want a light running shoe. I have ran in the Evolution for several years, but this shoe does not compare. Light weight, but lacks cushioning. Very disappointed.

Well, where do I start!!
I have been using brooks the beast for the past years, but decided to give ASIC a try on this new motion control shoes. But it was a total disaster. I am totally disappointed with these shoes. My first run with them I did it on a thread machine for half an hour, and it was OK. But today I went on my first 10K with them and I was about to take them off and run my way back home without them. They are so stiff that It seemed I was running with a piece of wood attached to my feet. The sound of the shoes hitting the groung I could hear over my earphones. I am definitively ask for a refund. These shoes should not be in the market. Do not let the look guide you to them. Sorry ASICs but this is a complete failure. I am taking the time to write this review because I think you should know about this.

I was excited when I heard Asics was releasing a new Motion Control shoe after two years. I have been running in this shoe for three weeks on paved surfaces. The upper is comfortable and holds the foot in place on the sole. The sole is very hard and the coushioning is very stiff. I noticed while running you can actually hear the sole hit the pavement with a clap on every stride. The stiffness of the soles has not gotten better after three weeks. I like the looks and initial feel of the shoe but wish the coushioning was a little softer.Keep the upper and go back to the Evolution sole.
