first time kayano user - last time

1

Use to be a loyal Asics GT series runner, and always wanted to try the Kayano's. Finally did with the 21s and after 25 miles they have been returned. Felt plush and decent in the store but didn't turn out that way on the road, maybe I was on one of those cushioned mats. Hard feeling while running, with some forefoot cushioning. This shoe runs small, very cramped in the shoe I and Use very thin socks and have a normal foot. I changed the lacing to parallel laces to alleviate the pressure and provide more room, and it worked. Running in them felt bad, felt hard, brick-like and didn't offer any positive qualities in my opinion, the Kayano's just didn't do any one thing well, and didn't stand out. There are too many new shoes with new technology on the horizon, HOKA, adidas boost, Saucony Everun to use these old timers.

Nice upgrade from GT series{

5

I have had many Gt series shoes. Lately I have found myself adding various insoles or pads to lessen metatarsalgia. Just finished first 5 mile run in Kayano 21 and felt effortless by comparison. The insole is nearly identical in shape and thickness to gt 2000-2, has same Asics part number, but the Kayano insole is easier to compress and weighs a few grams more. I have been stuck just over 185 pounds for a bit and finally got a big boy shoe. So far it seems like a better choice.

Not lighter than K-20's

4

I have run the K series going back to the 17's. People complained about the 19's but for me as a lighter runner I thought they were OK. I was glad they put more cushion back in the K20's. However, when comparing weights on my mail scale the K21's are 4 ounces heavier than the K20's & 6 ounces heavier than the K19's. Even if my scale isn't calibrated perfectly it clearly shows that the K21's are heavier. I like the way they feel but not the added weight. I am not sure how they can claim they are lighter. I might buy more K20's based on cost. I have run 12 miles in them with no problems so still a great shoe.

Wow!

5

I have moved away from Asics because they were not as durable. I have been using Brooks Trance and NB 1260 v2, but found both started to lose their support after 6 -7 miles. I did an 8 mile tempo run right out of the box and they were the true battle axe of a shoe I was hoping for. I had previously tried the Kawano 19 and was disappointed, but this has been a great shoe.

best yet

4

first day wearing them on a long day walking on cement floors, feet don't hurt...ordered 3 more (while still available in my size) Highly recommend using the foot chart provided by Road-Runner for size -- found out I needed 1/2 size wider & longer -- big difference, along with the extra cushioning. I'd give it 5 stars but haven't worn them long enough to say for sure, and don't know what "perfect" is, but so far so good -- as said, the best yet.

Nice Update!

5

Did 5 miles right outta the box. No brake in period needed. Had a great fit and feel to them. Was lighter than the Kayano 20's but more cushionee than the 19's. Almost felt like I was wearing the Nimbus. Hopefully they feel this good after i start putting the miles on them. Nice update Asics 10/10

Cushioning shoe

4

Asics keeps getting better and better with the new Asics gel- kayano 21. Its excellent for running with amazing cushioning and support to energize my hard workouts and long runs. Although i would like to see a weight change since the shoe is kinda heavy but overall i am very pleased!

I have bought asics kayano's for many years .

4

I wear a 4E with and the kayano 21 is tight even I have it stretched. I had the same problem with the kayano 20 but it was ok after I had it stretched. Perhaps the 21 was no able to be stretched. The best solution would be asics to increase the with on their 4E. I don't know if there also problems with the other E widths.

Better fit than the K-20

5

I've put about 300 miles each on two pairs of Kayano 20s, and loved them. I like the 21s even better. I have about 30 miles on the 21s now. So far, so good! They fit me better, especially in the heel, and seem to have better cushioning in the mid and forefoot. Overall, a more comfortable ride than the 20s.

Like the shoe, but....

4

Sturdy, comfortable, no heel problems that others mentioned (has to do with how I lace the shoes). I am 5'9", 150, and wear prescription orthotics. Shoes have gotten lighter, and less stiff - ie., more gel and the like. I'm lucky to get 200 miles on a pair of shoes these days. Used to get 250 miles or more on a pair five years ago.

Kayano is back!

5

Kayano is back! I'm talking pre-nineteen back. Back to what Kayano is known for: the best cushioning, the best stability, the best fit, the best ride, the best value. Picks up where 17 and 18 left off. So dialed in. Welcome back Kayano! Nice Asics, real nice.

5 mile run on the 21's

4

I love these shoes! I ran on the GT-200 V2 and I decided to upgrade for more cushioning and the 21's deliver! The only thing I have to report is the some small wiggle room in the heel, but I'm guessing I need more miles in them to break them in!

color bleeds

4

shoes look good and feel good I like the lime and blue color. What I don't like is that the padded color around the heel bleeds the lime color on my socks. Washing does not take the lime color out the socks. Maybe wear black socks so it doesn't show

Asics Kayano 21

5

Just got them today and I am really impressed. Vast difference from 20 to 21. Although I only ran 1/2 miles in them after taking out of box, I like the bounce they give as it stated. Lets hope they hold up to the miles I will be running in the coming months. I may even purchase another pair for my work.

Great shoe!!

5

Asics does it again!! This is my second pair and I really like it. The shoe really hugs your feet and supports your run each step. I used to wear under armor shoes and after running in them, I would get knee pains. My fiancÚ recommended these shoes and it really fixed that problem. I would continue to get these as my go to running shoe.

Amazing shoes!

5

These shoes make the last model feel tired. More support in the heel area and definitely a lighter more responsive shoe that is a pleasure to run in. Worth every cent of the investment!!

All good but work remains in the heel

5

Probably the most cushioned as if there was a spring yet supportive running shoe I've ever worn. But like every ASICS shoe I've ever worn, after about 100 miles on them, a hole starts to develop inside the cushion in the heel of the shoe.

Very comfortable shoe

5

Excellent shoe. Very comfortable. I like the shoe cushioning. Not quite as good as the Kayano 17, but still excellent. Myself: Runner for over 50 years, no missed running days for over 9,400 consecutive days. Six foot, 150#'s.

Great update

5

first run today in my 21s. Great update; good fit and cushioning. Seems to have just a little more room in the toebox than the 20s and got rid of the pinching that I was having. Overall very pleased
