However, Kayano 21 was a very different experience. I trusted the brand so much, that I bought two pairs online. I bought them in the same size as always, but they have hurt the tip of all my toes really badly. I compared them to the old ones, and they are just slightly smaller. I guess the extra cushioning in the heels somehow is pushing my feet forward against the hard tip. The fitting is just not right. Besides, they added this plastic thing where they wrote "fluid fit", which is right on top of my 4th toe, and hurt it a lot, too.

Best Uses Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Were not that great, but I kept and wore them thinking they'd eventually break in and be comfortable. Didn't really happen Gonna go back to Brooks sneakers.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Love the color. Very supportive. Pros

Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Walk& run. Great fit and cushion.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I use the Kayano for running. I have had four pairs starting with 17 or 18 and always use the green super feet inserts. I don't recall any issues with the earlier models. I have recently begun to run half marathons (Kayano 21). When I increased my distance, I began to experience blisters on my second toes and lost the nails several times. I went a half size up and had to switch to narrow. I still get blisters on my second toes and lose the nails. I am not sure if I should blame the shoes for the blisters. My toes do not hurt as I am running...I love these shoes but I think I need to look for something else.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I really like the stability of the Kayanos - This is my third pair since switching from Nike. I like almost everything about the shoe EXCEPT, the fabric on the inside of the heel has ripped on every pair i've purchased, long before I would normally replace my shoes.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I have run in Kayanos since #17 and have had no problem with any of them. Great shoe for me. So I thought of the 21 but it did not perform well. Scrunched toes, and a bit narrower, too, it seemed because after an hour on the road my left foot would go numb and even cramp. I wore them for a month thinking they would break in but it never happened. Ran a half marathon in December and by mile 9 I was hobbeling the rest of the race and almost crawled to the finish line. It was awful. I'll take them back to RRS and see what I can find to get me thru the next half of this year. Sad, sad, sad!

Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Great for running/walking. Comfortable and supportive for plantar faciitisis
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I have worn Asics Kayanos for many years and have been very happy with them. These shoes were so very different from the previous pairs I have purchased. The fit was completely off and as another reviewer posted my toes were being forced forward. The toe issue aside, the shoe just seemed uncomfortable in general. And the colors were a bit over the top.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Training for my first marathon and bought these to rotate with my Saucony Hurricanes. Turns out these are much better shoes for me - no pain or blistering at all. I'll be returning the Sauconys for giving me bad blisters and replacing them with another Kayano! Ran 17 miles in these today and my feet feel great!
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: About six months ago I injured my knee and it has been a painfully slow recovery period. I generally wear work boots to work, but haven't been able to consistently so I needed something I could wear that gave me the support and cushioning I need. unfortunately I have not been able to evaluate them for running, but the Kayano 21 and GT 2150 have been the only shoes I can tolerate to wear all day. I have always been an 8.5 in Asics and this pair was consistent with that. They work very well with orthotics and the combination of orthotics and Kayano 21 have kept me walking with a severe case of chondromalacia and possible torn meniscus.

Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: Running 3-5 miles 4-6 times per week. I like the shoes. The fit is shorter but I think it's OK for me. No toe pain or discomfort. However the colors are across the board hideous.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I have been wearing the Kayunos since at least the 15, maybe earlier. Each time the next model is available, I order without hesitation in the size that I always wear...9.5. Well, when these shoes arrived, I went out for a five mile run. By mile three, I couldn't feel my toes. I cut my run short because I knew it wasn't going well. After four miles, I limped back to my house and was in so much pain. Of course, Roadrunner was awesome and took them right back. They helped me by sending me the next 1/2 size bigger...but the 10s were too loose. They also recommended trying Brooks Transcend 2. I ended up keeping the Brooks, but I really miss wearing Asics. I am looking forward to the Asics 22. I hope they're better.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I've been running in the Kayanos for 18+ years. I've tranined for and completed multiple marathons in them. I'm a large frame (150lbs+) distance runner - mostly pavement, a tiny bit of trail/dirt. And I don't really like this model--. I've run in them 5 times now, all around 3-4 mile runs to break them in -but they ride different than any of my past Kayanos. Hard, flat ride. Fit ok-no rubbing or any issues that others posted. It's just not the usual Kayano ride. I wasnt' thrilled with the 20's either, now the 21 is worse. I hope ASICs doesn't continue the trend. I'm going to get the 18 or 19 while they are still available.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I absolutely loved the Kayano-20s, however the 21s have been awful for me. I wear a women's 9D, and while the width was fine, the length was a problem. I never had blisters in the 20s but in the 21s, I find that I get blisters on my second toe (because it's longer than my big toe) on every run. I am definitely not a fan of this upgrade.

Best Uses Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I have used Asic's Kayano shoes for many years. Each time a new model is released, I buy those. I have stayed faithful to this specific model but for the first time, I am disappointed. The Kayano 21 is nothing like the previous models. My feet hurt with each workout. After one month and certainly now after 3 months, I am desperate to buy new shoes and will go back to either Gel Kayano 19 or 20, whichever I find! This is a totally different experience with the 21 as if it were a new shoe altogether. Please note I buy Gel Kayano shoes every 6 months. The 21 is the only model that I have found uncomfortable to wear. I hope the next model is like the previous ones. Pros

Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: This shoe is awesome! I have tried every shoe out there, and nothing compares. I have horrible wide feet and have always gotten blisters when running races. I ran my first marathon in these and was shocked at the finish line, my feet were the only thing that didn't hurt! Not 1 blister! Love these shoes! Also very light weight for a stability shoe!
Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I've been buying 1 or 2 pair of Kayano's per year since at least the Kayano 17. They have always given my feet excellent support and cushioning. However with these Kayano 21's I found that they are lacking cushioning in the areas I need it. I wore them to the gym and within in 30 minutes on a stationary bike my toes were going numb. I decided to add some inserts which only helped a bit. I went on a power walk and made it through the first 50 minutes with only a little numbness but the last 40 minutes went from difficult to agony. I had to stop and sit for a bit to get some circulation back in my feet. I also had a spot rubbing on the base of my big toe that I was unaware of until I took off my sock and found it rubbed raw. I never had any issue with the earlier Kayano 17-20's. Unfortunately, whatever they changed in this model is really bad for my feet and there is a pressure point created that cuts off circulation.
Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I've been wearing ASICS for some time, and switched to Kayano on #19 to get more padding. Also had #20. This update seems to head back to the #19 fit (which I preferred) and is better! Updates are tricky and often make something that works stop working. Glad this one is just better. Pros

Comments about Womens ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Running Shoe: I've been wearing the Kayano since the 14 came out. When I heard they were releasing the 21, I had to get them! While I was not impressed with the Kayano 20 (a bit too snug for my foot), the 21 is great! The fit is a lot better, and works with my custom orthodics. I normally wear a size 8 in running shoes, and for me, these seem to fit true to size. They are great for short and long runs; I don't feel fatigue in my feet and knees. Although they are a bit pricy, they are totally worth it! I just bought the Kayano 21 Lite Show, too!!
