Going up a half size doesn't work because the width is off. C'mon asics- bring back the great fit. I did not notice lack of stability on single track like the other runner stated.

Best Uses
I hike the Grand Canyon an average of once a month and hike other trails with steep elevations. This shoe is the closest to the 2140's, which in my opinion was the best Asics trail shoe. This shoe provides excellent stability although would like to see just a tad more arch. The stability bar keeps my feet from overpronating, and the cushioning feels wonderful. The toe box is slightly narrower than the old 2140's (which are about 4 generations old- I bought up all the pairs I could find at the time). I couldn't wear any of the models in between so I'm very pleased about these shoes. I would suggest a color change as a dark gray shoe can get very hot. Teal, pink, purple, orAnge, anything would be better than grey. And lastly, the reverse lugs are great for trails with steep elevation and/or rough terrain. I would have given 5 stars but for having to send the first pair back due to a manufacturing defect, and the uneven shoelace eyelets. The quality of manufacturing seems to be decreasing.

Cons
Best Uses After signing up for a 25K trail race, I opted to purchase my first pair of trail running shoes. As a lifelong runner and recent user of the Asics GT 2000-3 shoes I purchased the trail running version of this shoe. Don't be fooled! A darker color DO NOT equal a quality trail running shoe. Break in was easy as this shoe feels the exact same as the Asics GT 2000-3 road running shoe. Unfortunately, the similarity leads to blisters and lack of support while running through single track trails and double fall-line conditions. There is a tremendous lack of lateral support in the Asics GT 2000-3 Trail, which is essential for a quality trail running shoe.
